"The sequel was cancelled after, during an argument with his wife, he was shot to death before shooting herself in a murder-suicide." Well, that got dark really quick, didn't it?
She had serious drug issues, and Andy Dick was apparently the one who gave her the drugs that lead to her relapse during which she killed Phil. Some seriously fucked up stuff. A legendarily talented man was lost, and less importantly, a video game series with a ton of potential, all for nothing. It's truly sad.

He was meant to be the voice of Zapp Brannigan and the character was pitched around how he'd portray him. You can definitely tell what they were going for (he's got serious shades of Troy McClure).
The Japanese word for "hedgehog" (ハリネズミ) directly translates as "Needle mouse" so, from the picture shown, it's more likely that they requested Sonic's name to be "Mr Hedgehog" but someone translated the Japanese too literally.

I miss blind too I wanted to play the game that had him in it but of course any cool n awesome they cancel it they should bring him back big time or give the character to someone who would do amazing things with the character so many great mascots being lost to time needs to come back even havoc the seal from high seas havoc needs a big comeback aero and zero too.

I was at E3 in the Los Angeles Convention Center when the news about Phil Hartman broke. You could tell something was up as a noticeable change in the noise level of the main hall descended as the story went across the room, so even before you knew exactly what had happened you just knew you weren't about to hear good news. At some point an announcement was made on the PA.
Fun Fact: Andy Dick is partly responsible for Phil Hartman's death. Phil's wife was recovering from drug addiction when Andy Dick got her hooked on pills. And well you all already know what happened

Can you imagine being stuck hallucinating that people are out to get you, that there's barely anything you can do about it, and being in a constant state of high alert waiting for some tragedy that will most likely never happen? Your perception of reality is so skewed, you believe holding up a Domino's is the best course of action for your survival. It doesn't sound like he got properly medicated before he died. It's a true shame.

Remember we can all blame Hollywood's very own troll/gremlin and overall bad shit magnet Andy Dick for Phil's death. No, I'm serious. Andy got Brynn back on cocaine at a Christmas Party in 1997. Brynn was a recovering addict who's behaviour quickly spiraled out of control, leading to many arguments with poor Phil, which ended in the murder suicide. Andy has had a long lasting feud with Jon Lovitz, a Co-worker of Phil's for this exact reason. Jon has called Andy out about it publicly and in interviews numerous times saying that if Andy hadn't have gotten Brynn back on cocaine, Phil would still be alive. He's even gone so far as to chant a curse at Andy saying he should be next to die.
The comfort I get is that in the last few months of his life, Phil got to work with people who enjoyed his company and the effort he put into Blasto, forever cementing his legacy as a funny and fun person to be around. Rip Phil Hartman, we will never forget you.
The Andy Dick thing is more of a rumor than anything. There isn't evidence of this happening nor that Brynn was on drugs when she murdered Phil.

Phil was supposed to be the original Zapp Brannigan of Futurama. I wonder if he has any undiscovered recorded lines as the character like how they found out Chris Farley was the original Shrek.

In addition to Blasto, Phil Hartman had dubbed the voice of Jiji in Disney's release of the Ghibli film Kiki's Delivery Service. That was released after his death and was dedicated to him.
Crash was SONY's unofficial mascot, they never fully accepted him but he was.

My sister was terrified of the Noid when we were kids. Mind you she was only about 3 years old. She's long outgrown her fear but still hates him.
Also, it's astonishing how many people still believe in the 30 minutes or less rule. I worked as a delivery guy for my local Domino's about 10 years ago to make some extra money and people would always bring that up if I got there after 30 minutes. This was always on a Friday or Saturday night when we were slammed with orders and had to take multiple deliveries in one trip just to keep up with all the orders.
Phil Hartman was so hilarious. So tragic what happened to him :(

Apparently, Dominos has thought it is safe to bring back the Noid. I saw it in an ad on TH-cam and freaked out.
I was dying from laughing so hard at the commercial, as I couldn't believe the noid was back. The plate on the car sealed my death
I saw the ad on tv only a few days after watching this video.

As soon as I heard Blasto's voice I was like "oh. Crap. That's Phil Hartman." He was so awesome. I felt awful that day.

Yeah, Blinx seems like a more potentially interesting character, at least compared to how consistently dreadful Bubsy has been.
The reason Bubsy came back was because of all the people ironically buying the remastered version of the first two "Bubsy" games.

Noid seems to have finally returned. He's even appearing in video games again! (Granted it's just a Crash Bandicoot endless runner for mobile devices, but still)
Pause at 9:30, the characters you see in the 2004 Athens Olympics are Athena (female character in orange) and Phebos (male character in blue) and they're were inspired from ancient Greek clay figures. I actually owned a Phebos plush myself, though worn out from use when I was just a little over three and a half years old... Plus my family collected all of the Athena and Phebos collectible small figures in those small Greek ice cream containers which there is a compartment on the other side of the container which keeps a toy/figure inside the said container. I can't remember which Greek company had like the double compartment ice cream and surprise toy containers, but the last time I remembered of this said brand was back in July 2008 (seven and a half at the time) when I visited Greece for three weeks for my Greek father and my brother and I, with my father, would go on an occasional nightly walk to the ice cream shop on the corner a few blocks near Chlois St (presumably the street name where my dad's apartment was), in Metamorfosi. And one of the visits, as I can recall, getting the said small strawberry ice cream container, which had a secondary compartment that contained a toy in it. I can't really recall much, but this said company may have existed to this very day. That's all I can tell about the story to be honest.

Show them Blinx, and they'll scratch their heads and be like "Huh?" Who the hell is that?" It's the most unrecognizable character that I've ever seen honestly.

4:52, Sonic wasn’t named Mr Needlemouse. His original name was Mr Hedgehog. Needlemouse is a poor translation of his name. Because harinezumi translates to hedgehog.
The Blasto section of this, even knowing beforehand how it would end, is legitimately the only part of Fact Hunt that makes me cry.

Man, I knew Phil Hartman's death shook everyone's world when it happened, but I didn't know it also sent shockwaves through the game industry. We really lost something special with him.
WOW, I played Blasto on the PS1, even knew his voice actor was someone huge and was already dead, but I didn't know the story. That's really sad, the character had a lot of charisma, and the game was cool, apart from being harder than hard. Really wished to see the franchise going forward, it had a lot of spirit.
I'm still pissed about Blasto. While the game itself wasn't perfect, the character was hilarious and had a lot of potential. I know it's not the most tragic part of Phil dying, but it still really sucks. I watched my dad play the game as a kid and it's a really great nostalgic memory for me.
I mean, I suppose I could see Billy West filling the shoes, but there's no way now. Billy West, of course taking over the voice of Futurama's Zap Branagan for Phil Hartman after he died. I miss Phil.

I absolutely loved the design of Blinx. The game was pretty fun and had some really unique mechanics at the time.
Clicked for Blasto, just wanted to say I LOVED Blasto as a kid, nobody even remembers him, the game was crazy hard but the atmosphere was so cool! RIP Phil Hartman
That's sad that Kevin never got proper mental health support.... but it doesn't suprise me... here in the US having mintal illness or drug problems is treated like the plauge. The gov. rather put you in prison or the streets.
I think the Horace mystery has been solved. I might have a few details wrong, but a couple weeks ago Octav1us Kitten was sent multiple copyright strikes, and temporarily demonetized, over her edited image of Horace. Maybe the creator or a corporate owner of the IP? Her use was legal fair-use, but she apparently came to terms with the complainant. It was a pretty stressful ordeal for her, but the fans had her back. Pretty ironic situation, seeing as Horace came to prominence on the back of copyright infringement.
Unfortunate... Blinx was actually quite unique, and i remember enjoying both of them very much

And the incident didn't take place in Atlanta. It took place in nearby city Chamblee, GA.
That Phil Hartman story is an incredibly messed up reason. What is also messed up is Dominos had eight deaths on their hands due to making their driver's drive too fast and they were like. "Meh."
Oh yeah and Horace can still be found on Primal Scream album covers for some reason.
Everything about Horace's existence (with the exception of his creator vanishing) just makes me laugh my ass off. I mean what kind of character design is that even supposed to be?
He looks like a cross between a butt and that red thing from Looney Tunes.
The answer to me seems to be that he is easily to animate. He is the cheapest looking mascot I sure as hell have seen, his eyes aren't even colored.

Man, the saddest part about Blasto is that I remember him already becoming a household name when I was a kid. Back when my parents were still interested in video games they'd always get a kick out of that Blasto demo, and I wonder if that appeal would've carried the franchise further.

Wow that Blasto one was so depressing wtf. I only knew of Phil and his death from his characters on The Simpsons. This is very unfortunate timing for the franchise.
The moment i heard Hartman's (rip) i sadly knew what happened to Captain Blasto.
Such good justice system. Droping charges based on insanaty on people who attempted, threatens or straight up murdered others but not putting their ass in a mental hospital even when they clearly need it but lets them back into society.

# 001 I never understood the Noid's cancellation because of a random guy with schizophrenia. That's like saying some random guy with mental issues held up a McDonald's because he shares the same name as Ronald McDonald. And by Ronald being a clown the mental guy would think they were mocking him.
Or some some redhead woman named Wendy held up a Wendy's because she things the mascot is her and thinks the restaurant is exploiting her or something like that.
Perhaps one day Domino's might bring the Noid back obviously modernized.
@@bulbasaur15 The Noid was already on the way out, and it was HORRIBLE PR on their part, so really it was the only sensible option. Also, it wasn't the face of the company like the others you mentioned, it was a promotional gimmick character that had already outlived the promotion he was created to... promote.

Bad news everyone: I recently talked to a lawyer about Blinx and she told me that, even if the trademark is expired, Blinx is still protected by copyright.

It only means you can legally trademark Blinx for something else. For example, you can create a video game character named Blinx but the similarities with the original Blinx must be in name only. Copyright only expires 75 years later, after that Blinx the cat will enter the public domain.
