Thanks so much for watching ♥️To answer a commonly occurring question: Why did you start with reds? This is an oil painting technique called "underpainting," (imprimatura) it establishes the shapes and shadows in a painting. When working with a toned canvas, you can paint with very light colors and have them actually show up on the painting, which wouldn't work if I started with a blank white background. I never start oil paintings with white backgrounds, it's a personal preference 😊 With an underpainting you can also layer paint transparently, creating really interesting color illusions while allowing some of the layer underneath to shine through. I made a video a while ago about underpaintings and why I like them: th-cam.com/video/jxSsMiYwFgg/w-d-xo.html
I've loved and practiced art for years and I am still bad when it comes to realistic art. Some artists just have these amazing brains. Absolutely incredible 😍
*this seriously deserves to be in an art museum. the fact that you started with a red underpainting and build your way up with the colors until it turns into this beautiful, somewhat magical masterpiece is just so impressive. also the red really creates these cool illusions in the water ripples, the hair and the dress, which makes you awe in amazement at this piece. you've inspired me hehe.* ✨

This process is exactly like the one demonstrated by Tom Keating and how the old masters would paint. They’d cover the canvas with a red bole so that a warmth would shine through under the skin layers. White would then be used to establish the tonal differences. Next hues of green would be applied to areas of the skin close to bone to imitate its translucence. Then you’d work back and forth with lights and darks to bring the painting to life. I think I have that right...been a while since I’ve seen his video. Great work and excellently executed!

I love watching this type of painting or art. This is real art in my personal opinion and takes skill, not like modern art where you can’t make out what your looking at and someone needs to explain it to you. Well done 👍
Why not just look at photographs; the end result looks exactly the same? It would seem that, using the term 'modern art' in a pejorative sense, you've instantly dismissed entire art movements without any research into what was driving them. Slavishly copying a photograph is hardly pushing the envelope when it comes to using one's imagination.
Wayne Jones - Why not have a look at the work of someone like Andrew Wyeth? It's purely representational, you wouldn't need anyone to explain it, yet it doesn't merely mimic a photograph.
@oddhominem all art is beautiful dumbass don’t put her down cause she can do this I do all kind of art not just one style and sometimes I do realism and I hate to work on anything just for folks like you putting it down and saying it’s not real art cause it’s from a picture or something like stfu art is art and that’s the best kind that you can get every lil detail which most artists can’t do , like I said plenty artists yall debate over and praise did realism from literally people as they muse or painted from nature outside you just a hater and not a real love of art because if you love art you would love all styles not just scribbles

Practice. Pablo Picasso once said, we all have the talent of art, the thing is how we cultivate it as we grow up. Not the whole words but the meaning.
I'm a no artist, but because I love making art, I do practice and practice because it can also make me happy, and even if there's just a little improvement, celebrate it, it's still an improvement
@@jayde8807 yes, it doesnt matter if your good at art or not. It only matters if you enjoy it. I love dancing and I know a lot of dances even though I'm jot good. I'm site your progressing in art! Thank you for loving art, it's a really good thing
Just…wow. Holy talent. Your eye for color alone is so superb I can’t stand it. Watching u work your masterpiece is a gift. Thanks for sharing w/us mortals😉

STUDY AND LEARN ,, STOP WASTING TIME IN ADMIRING OTHERS
@oddhominem all art is beautiful dumbass don’t put her down cause she can do this I do all kind of art not just one style and sometimes I do realism and I hate to work on anything just for folks like you putting it down and saying it’s not real art cause it’s from a picture or something like stfu art is art and that’s the best kind that you can get every lil detail which most artists can’t do , like I said plenty artists yall debate over and praise did realism from literally people as they muse or painted from nature outside you just a hater and not a real love of art because if you love art you would love all styles not just scribbles
