    FANTASTIC!!! It was mesmerizing to watch. I love how you began each step detailing what you're doing and the effect you want to achieve. Yet, we get to see the progress with the little 'jumps' you make in the video. I also learned how, when, and why to use a dry brush and the different effects that can be achieved. It was fascinating. I watched and was surprised at how many times I had to tell myself "Of Course"! It all made so much sense when you demonstrated it, even to this 73 year old who has the time and willingness but is only learning the basics.
    THANK YOU so very much! Incidentally, your calm voice that is so easy to listen to, also instills the patience needed to do such gorgeous and realistic art. Your English is also VERY good and easy to understand. I already have all the supplies and can't wait to get started!

      @@brennerfineart This is great, I have attempted it twice but can not get the waves to look like waves. What is the trick there?

    • @brennerfineart
      @brennerfineart  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@user-fm9gc7dh8c The trick is to practice hard - you can not expect to get the same result without the adequate amount of practice. Just like anything else in life - if you want to master something it takes dedication and practice. One thing - just really try to follow me step by step...and really try to do the exact same thing. That is something that people very often get wrong...they THINK they follow a tutorial but they somehow "wander off"...just like when you try to copy a photo onto the canvas - stay as close as possible and try to understand whats going on. And you will pick up how to paint this topic a lot faster!

    Wow, some people just have the most insane talent. Blows my mind that someone could actually paint this. To say this is exceptionally well done would be an understatement

    • @brennerfineart
      @brennerfineart  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you :-)))) But it`s actually way more training and time spent in front of the easel than talent! work ethic overtakes sheer talent! Spending years in front of the easel is what makes you become really good, talent makes it just easier to pick up the skills but without investing the time pure talent is not getting really far.

    Absolutely stunning! I'll never get tired of your water tutorials. Thanks so much for showing this technique. I'm excited (still scared though) to try it out. I'm doing my research by watching all your water videos over and over before I paint a sunset beach painting for a friend.

    • @brennerfineart
      @brennerfineart  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Rebecca :-))) Give it a try - it`s really not that difficult, just be careful and watch the consistency of the paint and try to build it up slowly not going "all in" on the first approach :-)))

    I cannot tell you how much I wish we had access to a teaching format like this when I was learning oil painting in the early 1980's. Thank you, extraordinarily helpful :) A truly flawless demonstration. How do you dispose of your Cadmium Red pigment materials when you're finished? Is there a way to make them safe?

    • @brennerfineart
      @brennerfineart  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thank you so much Frederick :-))) I clean the palette and the paper towels I use for this are kept in a shoe box to dry. Then the cadmium and the titanium is sealed in the little remaings. As long as you do not spray your colour nothing should happen while painting.

    Thank you for sharing. You did very well on the waves. The reflection was good but I feel you over did in reflection. The other thing you did not separate distance in colouring the reflection. You did perfectly well on the waves both in use of colour to separate near and far. You are very good with painting water waves

    • @brennerfineart
      @brennerfineart  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thank you :-))) The reference I used here is a close up shot of some surfers doing their "thing" in the waves - so there was no need for air perspective simply because there was not enough air between the front part of the painting and the back part. It basically is a close up shot and there is no need to put in any blue of the sky - this would give the false impression of a distance that simply is not there. And the reflections - I even reduced the amount of reflections that were on the reference material, believe it or not ;-)))) Please have a look at it and I think you will agree:

    This is a wonderful tutorial and you explain it so well. I do matte acrylic and gouache and really struggle with some of the so called tutorials that just paint and never explain what they are doing and the decisions they make. I am working on a sailboat painting with a water reflection that I have started over a few times because I don't like the reflection and this helped so much explain what I should do to improve and I will apply this information on my next attempt.
