I own Melodyne Assistant. My only complaint is that Melodyne frequently causes artifacts when using it. Maybe it's user error but my rock vocals can get cracks and pops when rendering. I use it sparingly and don't render the entire phrase, but I haven't found the magic formula after watching hundreds of Melodyne videos. Melodyne will ruin the sample if it gets artifacts so it's best to work off of a copy and check your work after rendering. I usually make a muted track on my screen that says 'storage' and I store copies of vocal samples that I like on my storage tracks to access them quickly later. Love these videos Mike. Keep em coming. Cheers
I've always wondered how to use Melodyne in Studio One. What a great 15 minutes of my life this video was! Thank you! Can't wait to dive in and have fun with it! I'll start with my own voice, one of the pitchiest voices on the planet to practice with. LOL
I need to clean up a track and have studio One but never could populate Melodyne. It used to be easier to do. (I had melodyne in Cakewalk) you would just click in melodyne and the information would show up. So I was stuck with Studio One not knowing how to do it. So grateful for this video now I can go back and clean up some vocals.
Great tool that I've only scratched the surface of using myself. In my younger days I might have dismissed it as "cheating" but now, yeah not so much. Thanks for another clear, concise breakdown Mike.
Thank you for this Tutorial. I'm new to using this and you made it very easy for me to get started with this. Very easy to follow and apply to a project I have up in studio one and follow along with you !!
I LOVE Melodyne! It's the only pitch correction I've used personally (never tried auto tune and never had a real desire to try it). I use it for correction, finding tempo for tracks, and compression...very useful for me ☺ Thank you!
I know that Meloyne has online resources to support it's product but your video was super helpful in understanding how to use it. Thank you for de-mystifying Melodyne for me.
Great vid. You should do a whole series on melodyne including how to align multiple vocal tracks, using it to extract audio to use as midi information and the various other things it is capable of. I really like your video style... 15 to 20 minutes max, no bs distractions and you put things in a simple way. Keep up the good work.
I really try to re-do to get vocals right but I also use a very small amount of correction mostly on backing. I'm lucky with my daughter as she sings spot on every time. Perfect relative pitch.
Mike the S1 Guru. You’re content is awesome and priceless to say the least. My DAW of choice was Maschine but thanks to your tutorials, I’m getting more comfortable with using S1 again. I never imagined that S1 was this powerful! Thanks
I didnt even watch it yet and i know ill learn what i need. I have the version that comes with S1. I only use the the little pitch control knob. So here i go into mikes superb teachings and explainations
Another great video, thanks Mike. FYI Melodyne Essentials has the Correct Pitch button on the toolbar, but there's no such option on right clicking the blob! At least not on my version!
great vid mike . just to put this out there when melodyne has like a half price upgrade offer you can upgrade from the free version that comes with your daw. i didnt go to studio but i went to assistant and did find the xtras it has worthwhile.
Hey Mike, great video and timely as well. I need to fix a vocal track so this was very helpful. You mentioned comping and pointed to a link that wasn’t on screen lol. Can you put the link in the description box? Thanks mate. Again, great video and channel
hello, when I clicked edit with Melodyne, I wonder why my audio is still on a straight line ( flat line), not same as shown on your video, anything I could adjust?
Great video! Thanks. Wondering if I have the melodyne essentials that comes with Studio One, do I only pay the upgrade fee for Assistant? Or do I need to buy the whole Assistant Plugin separately?
Hi, great video, thanks for doing this. I was wondering if you need to save, export and import or bounce in place after you've edited with Melodyne in Studio One? How does that work?
Hi Mike, thank you for the clear explanation. My question is about using Melodyne in Studio one 5. In one of the tracks I want to erase Melodyne and start all over again. I see the small icon Event FX Melodyne at the bottom left of the track.. In the Mix track I have already turned off en remove Melodyne, but when I double click on the track I still see Melodyne audio effect in the Edit bar. How can I remove this and re-enter Melodyne clean? Can you give me a help?
Great tutorial on the basic parts of Melodyne! I consider it an invaluable tool. There are some things I would like your opinion on... When zooming and scrolling with the scroll wheel, I find it very slow. And, it doesn't follow the cursor when I am in playback. I've tried all different settings, maybe I've missed something? I have the latest version of Studio One and use Windows 10. I did notice that when you made changes, the graphics did not seem to follow, but I do see the alterations as I make them (pitch curve, amplitude, etc). I was just wondering if you have heard anything on these issues?
Amazing video as always! Tell me (I've never used melodyne but I do have it) - do you do these corrections before compression, eq etc etc? Or doesn't it matter so long as it's done after comping?
Personally, I like to do it before everything else. I view it as an editing task, which I like to tick off before I get into shaping sound and mixing. However, that's just me! I can't see any real reason that you couldn't use compression, and eq before this.
Hey Guys, my Melodyne dont open like yours do? it puts a red line across the vocal track after i pressed edit, is this cus i got. an older version (version3)??
@@sebastianxavier6008yeah I had that too. I first had Melodyne on grey and requesting for an activation and it didn’t really work but in my case it was actually because it didn’t activate it as I downloaded the pack but I had to manually type the activation key into melodynes website and then restart everything
i got in fixed somewhere last week. In my case I waited too long to put in the serial number to register it and it was just giving me problems. I kept messing with it and it wound up deciding to work randomly after i put the serial in. I really didn't do anything different other than keep trying the serial until it took it. @@cezarsantana

Love you attitude David - I was much the same.
This is definitely the best channel for StudioOne information that aren't just surface level knowledge you can attain from S1 manual.
Thanks a lot.
Glad you think so!

Hey Mike, Just wanted to say I really enjoy your instruction style and your concise explanations of individual Studio One tools. Thank You!
I learned so much in just this one video, tha k you so much!
thanks for this. the guy below, you know in the 80s they did pitch correction using hardware. theres some videos by matt espen? on yt about.

Hey Mike, I wouldn't mind a video covering the use of Melodyne to change chords and scales of instruments like keys and guitars.
Very useful, thank you
Amazing tutorial
Great video, Mike. Thank you.

My pleasure :)

Still waiting for this song to come out
beautiful song
I see you used Cmd + B to bunch that but u can use G as well to merge the whole performance together
studio one melodyne intragration is cool but one thing is that return to stop position not working like arangement section. need to fix that

@@studioonerevealed makes sense! Cool beans :)
Melodyne essential does not have the pitch drift tool, I upgraded to the assistant version and you get the complete tool set in that version!
Are your melodyne changes “saved” or do you have to render them in Studio One?
They are saved. But normally once I am happy with them, I save to a new file name, and render them to save on resources.
@@studioonerevealed So you would render like when placing an effect on an Event
