  • After watching several other Studio One TH-camrs, I noticed I am doing vocal comping quite differently! So I've come up with a hybrid workflow :)

    thanks, I have watched a few vids on vocal recording and takes in S1 and none of them mention the feature on the lower left hand
    corner " record to takes " by pressing the cog wheel to the left of the tempo selector... this is a great feature in S1 that even the guys giving tutorials don't mention.... thanks.. ed

    Unlike the rest of your videos, this video in particular was very hard to follow and learn from. You kept jumping from one topic to another and coming back to the main topic. Also you left me confused between 3 different methods. You could introduce the best way at first and the alternatives to the socound and third, not the other way around. Anyway to show you my support for my fav TH-cam channel, I liked the video. 💖😍

    i like studio for its handy quickly tools with custom shortcuts. i started with cubase then moved to reaper for years and i though there was the only one daw which is flexible for anything, but I feel a little bit confused with the old school graphic that Reaper provided, so i tried to figure out something new, and then i just tried studio one4 haha... who know, i've been using it up till now 6.2 version. enjoy the software so much ❤🎉

    I don’t use layers very often anymore, but I will revisit after watching this useful video. I recall a checkbox related to something like “layers follow edits” that caused me some misery. It determines whether an edit made to a clip that had been promoted onto the track also affects the layer from which it came. When enabled, a change made to the main track also edits the underlying layer. That may or may not be what the user wants. I generally prefer the feature to be disabled so that audio in my original layer isn’t affected by edits to the main track.

    Mike, can you (like in Cakewalk since you teach both) move to the next selected clip with a keyboard shortcut so you don’t have to click on the next clip? That way you can “flow” from one clip to the next to hear how they transition into each other when auditioning. I like the way in Cakewalk I can use the arrow keys up and down to select the best take and then the right arrow to move to the next selection.

    Great Video Mike - Did my 1st Comping last night on a verse of an old song I wrote years ago ..
    When done comping the lead vocal - Would you ever consider copying the track and use the remaining unused phrase clips to create a your ' Double Track ' or your hard panned L / R track ??
    Thanks for the great videos ..

  • @airspeedaudio

    Thanks, another great video - all of your videos are stellar!! Question: I like to use each previous take (assuming they are each getting better) as a guide. So I can hear the guide vocal in my left ear headphone and my voice in my right ear headphone. Is there a way to setup Studio one to allow me to do take after take but NOT muting the previous take?

    What a great and uncomplicated way to explain it. But isn't it an issue, that every layer has different volumes? Will it be fixed by automation after bounced in one track?

      Oh hey, I just found how to show record panel. Go to view, show record panel, click 'takes to layers". If anyone else has this version, that's how to do it.

  • @badmacbassandbass8118
    @badmacbassandbass8118 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why did they make it so complicated? This is a deal breaker for me. Can't imagine tracking vocals or guitars and having to do something for every take. Cakewalk is so easy. Each take goes to a lane and then trim what you don't want to hear and you can blend with sound on sound. Gotta say presonus, this just does not seem efficient.
