I’m starting my first year of football as a sophomore and we don’t have a JV team yet. This video helped me to learn and to tackle someone properly.Still some things I gotta figure out and work on.Just nervous about letting my team down, embarrassing myself, and the trash talk behind my back.Mainly I’m just scared and don’t wanna make a fool of myself and let my team down.I’m excited to play but this is my first time playing for a long time.Thank you for your videos!
Aussie ex-League player. We talk about hitting the hips ("above the belt") - you dominate the hips, you win in leverage and the arms follow very naturally into a wrap drive with the legs and push over the ball carrier. However in my experience we have it easier in Rugby. we can inside out or outside in on the tackle using the crossing motion to our advantage in the tackle and its easier on your body if your laying 20 hits or more over a game, We very rarely "need" to execute a tackle from directly in front (even when marking the tackled player who is playing the ball on the next player to take the ball is oblique to you and even in goal line defence it is mostly oblique contact inside out outside in). Conversely due to the nature of American Football (which I also did play - Mike in a 4-3 def mostly) you want to hit "head on" not saying head is involved (you use your head for thinking not for hitting; hit with your hard shoulders) its the direction of both players colliding straight on. In this situation playing for the "above the belt" hit is even better as you need to get low and explode up into and through the tackle on contact which is a different tackle as its non-oblique. Coming into this tackle with the right trajectory upper body targeting the hip-hinge is key, as you want to deny any forward momentum. In Rugby league we call the technique a 'spear tackle' and Im unsure why this is not taught in American football (I'm not talking the illegal pile driving neck endangering version of the tackle but the legal version AKA the dump or Axe tackle). Show your players this tackling attack and teach them how to execute it and watch as your defence punished the opposition. Certainly using the thighs for leveage in the tackle is not seen in the NFL. See th-cam.com/video/TfaO6DW5mCA/w-d-xo.html And also th-cam.com/video/ItvY-Gnr1rE/w-d-xo.html Edit: The leading leg of the tackler in American football - which is key to a good tackle - always seems to be tentative. Id like to see stronger dominance of the ball carrier by the tacklers leading leg and matching shoulder; going in at "above the belt" with the hands of the tackler used to unbalance the ball carriers frame. But that's just me.
I live in Canada so we don't get football teams. So during lunch break my friends and I play tackle football and we all love it but I didn't know how to tackle until I watched this video and it was extremely helpful.
thx for this. yesterday I hit a insane play (d tackle) I ran over the line and got a hold of the ball carrier but he ran over me cuz I messed up my Finnish. we did win tho 14 - 7
I’m thinking of starting football in my junior year in highschool. Is it too late??? I’m not tryna go pro. I just want to have fun and get fit physically
Hi guys, can you make a detailed video on how to read what play the offense will execute? And what coverages are the best for different situations? Thanks!
If the offensive lines hands are far away and they are leaning on it it's probably a run and if they have their hand close to their body and they are not really leaning on it it's probably gonna be a pass
My coach has me playing Full back and middle linebacker but I know what to do now but my question, when I read the player do I just run threw the middle or the direction they are going? Like obviously the direction they are going but do I way till they pass the linemen?
what is the difference between Obvious Onside kick and Onside kick? whether they are the same? another question is that whether "Pooch kick" and "squib" is similar, what is their difference ? thank you !!!
U can’t necessarily grab them as much as u can technically like have ur hand out and follow if u want to get away from the blocking u must chop his hands and swing ur other arm under the arm that ur other arm chopped so then his arm is above his head and u can get through
Cmon man!! You have too much potential on this channel to have videos with this quality and angles of videography! You need to get closer and use the sun to your advantage! Good info though
Head up , shoulder lead, arms wrap around! Now you just have to teach the NFL this! They have turned tackling into assault with shoulder in NFL! They don't wrap and they are leaving ground to become a missile! This is dangerous!
Good info but the video is like 50yards away and can’t see shit. You definitely need a closer shot of the kids actually tackling. Just trying to help out.
Not putting the head in the tackle is the definition of an arm tackle. Runner moving to his left. Defender hits with his left shoulder putting his body across the runner.
Struggling with not teaching my son to do this. It’s how we learned how to tackle in 90’s. If you are tackling from angle, and put your head on the inside hip 95% of your body is going away from runner, which only leaves shoulder and arms to stop his momentum. I get that it’s safer, but it doesn’t seem very effective
Don’t ever say oh my G-O-D or anything else like that because that’s using God’s name as a cuss word. Don’t cuss or use anything else to replace cussing because that’s just as bad and don’t lie and don’t call anyone names and don’t say anything to put someone down and don’t lust at all and don’t be racist or treat anyone differently because of anything. Don’t put anything on anything, don’t hate anyone besides demons forgive and love everyone besides demons, don’t gossip, don’t take revenge, don’t gamble, be grateful for what you have, don’t listen to bad music or music you shouldn’t be listening to, don’t kill yourself or anyone else, and don’t abort babies or vote for abortion. Jesus loves all of y’all, he loves everyone and died on the cross for everyone’s sins and came back to life three days later! God bless!

Pooch kick is just another word for a sky kick squib kick is a kick where you kick it on the ground as far as possible to waste time
i suck at football
hope this helps

You're going to crush it! Be sure you listen to your coaches and work hard. Good luck! 💯
I just started football and I still don't know how to play can you tell me about the basics?

Have you guys ever done a video on D-Line stunt schemes and situations for when to use them?
We have a video we did with coach nick davis on ET stunts. Anything in particular you want us to look into?
Do you think a person who has never played or watched the game of football can join High school football and succeed
Yes I did this I year just try and if you don’t like it leave after the season
Absolutely! Just make sure you ask your coach questions and we're happy to help if you have any questions!

Because you tackle head on
