For cheruiyot to have ran a 53s opener and still go under 3:30 shows he definitely has potential to break the world record with better pacing. A 25s first 200 is under the pace of the 800m world record so unless that was asked for a slower first lap could take at least a second off his time. Great run by jakob to pace it perfectly and it very nearly payed off with the win. A brilliant European record and a great run from Wightman and filip too.
25 for the first 200 is not under the pace for the 800 record. The first lap in all world records for the 800 in modern times has been run significantly faster than the second lap. Usually in the range 49.0 to 49.5 for the first lap. Even ca. 48.3 for Kipketer in Zurich in 1997.
Not 100% sure about that, chief. El Guerrouj started his world record race under 54 sec and then closed in 53.1! There is also a race where he opened in 52 seconds! Not saying is not possible, but Cheriot must be at his very best in that day.
The question is how long and how much he can still improve . And how far he is from his peak . Maybe he has reached his peak verY early unlike other athletes
The pacesetter was pathetic -- 52.2, 58.8 -- for the first two laps. Jakob was smart not to go with them on the first lap. Had the pacing been better (55, 56), Cheruiyot may have gone a second faster and perhaps Jakob too.

@RunFor OurLives Jakob is running very good times from very early age 12 years old or so I don't think Gjert will be this inhumane to inject drugs into his child's body at that age.
@RunFor OurLives You are right, had it been any other white boy other than Jakob Ingebritsen it would be suspecsious. But Jakob is in a unique situation, his situation with his father and brothers is one of kind in the western world. Jakob is raised like an East African runner physically, as he started training for running from he was four or something. Jakob are therefor allowed his body to adapt to running from an early age, almost never seen in this part of the world(but very common in Africa). Combine that with a training regime testet on his older brothers, that are runners on an olympic level, you have a unique situation. It is this combination that makes me NOT question Jakob. I hope that Cherout is clean and so far it is looking good because he has a good reputation among the other runners including the Ingebritsen familiy(I think they are some kind of friends of the Cheouyt camp).
It might be because Cheriyot ran just shy of his own personal best, while Jacob improved his a lot amd came much closer to beating him than he has previously. If Cheriyot had ran a more even pace the whole race I`m sure his time would be better. Very exciting race!

Jakob looks like he’s jogging, how fast will this guy run one day? Engles needs to shave that porn stache before he gets arrested.
Finally the nigga won
World record is still 3:26
I hope Jakob was also paid for being a Rabbit. Way to fast of the first two Rabbits. But smart running of Jakob considering this situation.
The old European Récord is by Fermín Cacho ???
No, it by Mo Farah
@@jerrytv9889 , farah hahahaha he is not european
@@hanksherman8078 technically yes, but anyway fermin cacho lost the fastest white man at the 1500 title
@@jerrytv9889 yes, Cacho legend and Jakob is The King of 1500
Poor Filip Ingebritsen...imagine being so fast and you're not even the fastest one in the family!
Olympics gold ! :)
Big up Uganda east Africa
Congrats on Cheptegei from Norway! That was insane too!
Where is the caption? It’s in Swedish and pretty good narrated.
Cheriyout at 4:40: "Who is this kid...?"
El título del vídeo en un idioma, el audio en otro y los comentarios en otro. Esto es un sindios.
Cheruiyot 25yo - PB: 3:28.41 / Ingebrigtsen 20yo - PB: 3:28.68
Hicham elgrouj...3.26
Wow! World record 3:26 flat
Thanks captain obvious. How clever you are
How long has Jakob had the earring?
How is that relevant to anything in this video?
@@slahudeenhussain5297 This video is the first time I've seen the earring.
Since the summer of 2019
The thumbnail kinda looks like young Anthony Padilla
Jakob actually came second in this race. Let’s not let anything eclipse the fact that Cheruiyot actually won the race.
So what Cheruiyot didn't run his PB. Jakob broke ER
Yo creo que el será el que supere a Hicham el guerrouj. 😁
Yeee! Go team Cheruiyot

Where is Samuel Tefera??
Probably resting for the olympics...
You may be right, but I thought these guys do tune up races leading up to the Olympics. It’s still pretty far off too. It’s like Tefera has disappeared after breaking the indoor world records.
Jacob had a man to chase him lucky he never lead he playing catch up
Cherouyt seems too good to be true. It is not natural to be this good and superior.
He barely won the race what are you talking about
Saurabh Singh I’m talking about Cherouyt running 1 lap like a maniac and in a fashion that has never been seen before and STILL playing with Jakob and the rest of the compeditors. It is also roumers that he has not trained very vel, during the Covid-19 close down. It should not be possible. He is running like an alion.
@@rinnan84 well you can be right east Africans don't have very good past with drug and PEDs use.
What a shame to show the swedish SVT1 and not the norwegian NRK1
he ran 3:28,68
If Ingebrigston runs 200miles/week and eats nothing but spinach he will easily run under 3minutes for the 1500m
Its impossible
🏃♂️💣👌👌👌
It should say 3:28.68
No one can beat H.E wordrecod
Because he used illegal substances?
Manangoi should be back...hez way faster than cheruiyot n Jakob..its gonna be fire in Tokyo
Manangoi's over man

2:40 loll
Los blancos van tras los 1500 y los 5000mts.
I don't understand why Jacob makes the headline when Cheriyot is the winner 🤨😑
Because of his age and new european record.
Moca BeenTrill probably because of his age and how amazing this achievement is for such a young athlete.
It might be because Cheriyot ran just shy of his own personal best, while Jacob improved his a lot amd came much closer to beating him than he has previously. If Cheriyot had ran a more even pace the whole race I`m sure his time would be better.
Very exciting race!
Cause he’s 19
RunFor OurLives while I’m sure there’s a lot of truth in what you’re saying, at the same time I believe he broke the u20 wr and dropped his time by almost two seconds, whereas Cheruiyot didn’t run a pb.
Once again, that’s not to say theres not truth to what you’re saying.
Jacob will break all the records
Black runners: I fear no white man, but that Thing... (Jakob Ingebrigtsen) he scares me!
Kto z polski
WTF
Jakob Ingebrigtsen lost this race
It´s like running 100 meter in 11 seconds 15 times in a row. It doesn´t even look that fast. Just insane.
That Title you'd think that Jakob guy Won...smh..!!! Wazi Cheruyot sisi tutakucongratulate..!!
No reread the title.
Sorry for feeling happy for a young supertalent from my home country where winter sports is our thing with six months of snow, darkness and cold a year that trained his ass off since he was a young kid to get so close to beating one of THE BEST Kenyan middle distance runners ever. A sport East Africans have dominated forever. Inspiring new runners that might not think it is not possible. If a Kenyan got second place in cross country skiing, a sport where Norwegians dominate, I would feel happy for him, not petty that our champion did not get enough glory
2,18 al km neanche in bicicletta
Cheruiyot propably doped because coming from Kenia. Norwegian guy much slower and definitely not using dope! 🤣
Where’s centro?💉💉💉
Timothy ran the European record too
But he is from Africa right?
his finishing is poor
This kid will get caught someday . Matter of time .
