Excellent start to the project Mark. I think it was a good idea to machine these parts from a single piece of metal. Much stronger than joining parts together. That huge lump of steel was a great gift. Cheers Nobby

Good call on using solid piece of steel instead of the screw on parts, all that would definitely be flexing under a load, your way is way more sturdy!

Nice work. I agree with your one piece alterations, it will make a lot more sturdy tool. Looking forward to you cutting the dove tails, my first attempt was a disaster😁

Thanks, I do like to figure it out and do it my way 😂 😂 I do find a lot of their instructions are very old methods. I spend most of my time converting fractions to decimal and mm 😂

Good start! Interesting move making the dovetails in one piece. A lot more rigid, but you’ll have to be spot on with machining the second dovetail. I’ve nearly finished their quick change tool post and the notes for cutting the dovetails to size described a very weird method. I used the two dowels method which worked great.

I won’t rely on measurements, I will be able to trial fit the slide into the head as I machine it 🤞 if I goof it up! I will make a small gib 😂thanks Mark
