Its good to see old bikes like these being fixed up, I wanna personally own a motorcycle someday as my dad brought my love for them as he’s owned many Harley Davison’s in his life.
You really have an enormous problem solving power. With every new video you're creativity amazes me again and again! Keep up the good work man, and be safe on the road!
Hope you are still enjoying it. Just bought a 78 TS125. Using your videos extensively to rebuild it. Have to laugh cuz mine not only has a speedometer and odometer, but actually buttons for high and low beams, but no key so gas tank, seat, and fork are all locked.
Not many of us would have the know how or do better ..at times I feel your a goofy but more a guru! In motorcycle repair!! Keep up the good work and great 👍🏼 videos ! Gold Guy .. Ps u have lovely tolerant neighbors 😀🏍🐶☀️
awesome man, doing my own ts185 up atm and i believe the the reason these bikes are so good down low is because of the expansion chamer because it expands later down the pipe it is tuned for more torque at lower rpms but they rip either way
Great how you fixed the carb. I love unusual solutions, if they work. So much more exciting to watch too. Also good to see that you did not give up, although everything seemed to fight you.
Bud.... Your your own person, I get it... If I could send you a picture of whats left of my right knee... You do away with them shorts.... Yeah people told me the same thing... Dress for the slide, not the ride.... But I had to learn for myself. Great vid as always...
I wonder how she would perform with a whole new carb unit. If I may offer just one suggestion... after you paint your tanks (on all your bikes), put a coat of 2k clear coat on them so they're chemical resistant against fuel.
Like, comment, subscribe, hit the bell..... Dude we know how it works.. 👍 I’ve done the same thing pull the carburetor off 100 times, sometimes they are just wore out.. My advice would be to stick a new two-stroke Mikuni or something on it and don’t look back. Then you’ll hit 88 mph and travel back in time.... 😳
I have a 74 I love it. It beats me up on trails but it’s so fun either way. And I have it plated so it goes on rode. My top speed was 60 before it terrifies me
You could have used Locktite sleeve retainer on the jet holder. You only have one shot to install it so put alignment marks before you apply it. You need heat to remove if you make a misteke, but its in there for good.
Looking good, you'll get way more speed when you get the jetting dialed in. Listen to the guy that said to wear gear made to slide. Leathers saved my hide on the street once.
The problem that you are having is that there is a small brass washer that the main jet holds in the jet tube, get online and find another carb from a salvage yard
DUDE honestly. please. before you buy new plates for the yzf, take the friction plates out, blow them dry with an air compressor ,absolute dry, then oil for 24 hours in MOTOCROSS oil, synthetic and mineral oil make the friction plates slip ALOT. Oil isn't just oil , oil has alot of different components for each type of engine.
you could get the ts100er with ts125 tuning cyllinder and better exhaust then it would hit around 130 so your should probably get it atleast 150 if tunecorectly and a better exhaust or something
"And with these JIS screwdrivers, I will never strip a screw, again." HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That's rich! Hoo-boy! Yep, two-strokes: tiny-but-torquey! One day, you will become curious and buy that beastie a new carb...
Awesome. Totally awesome. Lol. You got a cool bike goldguy. Got something for you to beat on except the girlfriend. Weird joke ya I know but. Stay safe.
I skip watched a few vids in this TS 185 'resto'. What a horror show, looked more like butchery than mechanics. Everything I saw was wrong, working on the floor, smacking the magneto with a hammer, drilling out the main jet with the jet in his fingers , putting a new chain on very worn sprockets, spray painting random parts gold. Decides 'I'm just gonna use premix, forget about the oil pump', the pump will run dry and seize its drive shaft. It's a lesson on how not to restore on a bike.
the main is too big and thats why it boogs down, its supposed to rev out further
My first bike was a 74 Yamaha DT175, those old 2 strokes are a blast.
Its good to see old bikes like these being fixed up, I wanna personally own a motorcycle someday as my dad brought my love for them as he’s owned many Harley Davison’s in his life.
Ayeeee, I knew Matt was a good guy! Been loving this series man.

I have a 71 Hodaka Ace 100b+ 2 stroke. I love the old school enduro bikes. Hopefully this year I'll get it licensed for the street.
The Workshop is a legit channel man, Matt sent you screwdrivers?! That's badass!
@jesus jones LOL no arguments from me
Awesome video bro. Glad you figured out what was wrong with your bike.

No worries dude - good to see them put to work. And don't they make a difference!
I can`t wait for you to upload a Yamaha video and see it running. You`r the best!!!!! KEEP UP!!!

Golden job again, your persistence pays off. The wheelie thing , I'm not sure? Lol!
Love these videos! Keep them coming and if possible, upload weekend vlogs on your cb750 or the gs850 . Really missing them

ur dad is so awsome, loved the video as always!
Love ur vids man! keep up the great work! :)

I agree 2 strokes are just good
Make sure the clamps on the handlebars are tight and secure.
$600 for one near me on Craigslist, and now after watching this video, I think $600 is a good deal considering they claim it runs.
Hello, I have the same carb that needs rebuild, would you have a part number for the rebuild kit
Awesome that you got it fixed! Wanna buy another one? Hahaha
It's a 1973 ts185! Runs and rides but needs alot of work!! Mao!
Free aux cord! I found a lightning to aux dongle outside my school the other day.
DUDE honestly. please. before you buy new plates for the yzf, take the friction plates out, blow them dry with an air compressor

New friction plates fixed the clutch problem. Video will be ip.
Used to get 80 out of my '76 ts185, then burned a hole through the piston.
JUST YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey gold guy keep the vids up
I will! Thanks
Thanks for responding
Can you do a cafe racer video soon?
Drop the main jet, 3/4 to wide is the main. So main needs to be leaned
I agree
2 strokes bro 👍🏼🏍
Love ur vids ❤
The old bikes are so much fun why it's not fast reeds. Air flow leaks. Crank shaft seal s. Do a leak down test get a aftermarket carburetor

Witch exhaust is fitting on these bikes, because I search one for more power
Ok this is epic
i think you should try to use yz ignition
I gotta 1971 ts 185 runs an drives just need a tune up an help me out thanks
Front wheel is bent? Bars are shaking way too much. And your main jet it too big. Bike isnt revving out like it should.
whats your gearing on the bike?
is the front mud guard on backwards?
the macgyver among the mechanics...
lmfao that free aux cord xD
How muchdid the wholeRebuilt cost
Where can I get a carb for a 81 ts185 I’ve ordered 2 already and there not the right size lol
Hmm maybe the engine has been swapped and its not actually the 81 engine. I would probably get one on eBay.
show the smoke at 60 plz
Washerrrrrrr
What sprocket do u use
"And with these JIS screwdrivers, I will never strip a screw, again." HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That's rich! Hoo-boy!
Yep, two-strokes: tiny-but-torquey!
One day, you will become curious and buy that beastie a new carb...
Cool! Your getting there!
How’s your nifty fifty doing?
Maaan it's four-stroking - I guess it cuts a lot of high end power. Defenitely running too rich and not too lean...
Awesome. Totally awesome. Lol. You got a cool bike goldguy. Got something for you to beat on except the girlfriend. Weird joke ya I know but. Stay safe.
My xsport110 had more power then that lol keep up the vids mate 😎
Keep those old bikes running.
Check the accelerator pump
This bike has no accelerator pump
Get a China clone carb. They work great. Better than a 45 year ole one.
I have a 1981 Yamaha dt100
Where’s the cb750!!
Instead of that yz should have bought a 2T!!! Seeee;)
Where do you live in the United States, my friend, I would like to take my motorcycle with you so that you can repair it for me...
Where is the rear fender
It's in my workshop, will go on the bike soon
Ok
Im from indonesia. Im waiting vidio yz450
My ts run to 95km x h max
Seems like a LOT of missing power.
They accelerate much better than yours is.
Get the carb sorted out and maybe adjust your magneto.
Your not too mechanical...are you?
Omffffggg all you need is a fuckinnggg washed where the main jet screws in wttfffffffffff
WASHERRRRRRR

Everybody's gotta start somewhere, this is where I started.
