This helped so much with my build. I got a disassembled one of these for free, and nothing was seized. My frend and I could no figure out how to get it working, because it sparks, and fuel gets to the carb, but it does not start. This helped us know where the jets were located and how to clean them.
The little lines on the side of the carburator are the two stroke oil lines, one is in, the other is return. If you shut off the oil pump you dont need them, just ADD a little line and close them off.
hey if you ever clean a carb or anything like it , soak the whole thing in scalding hot water for 10 minuets and all the screws will come out easy, also the oil in the carb isnt oil its varnish from the gas being so old, also , the carb has 1 pull cable it goes to the handle the one you took out goes to the oil pump, and guitar string or a needle will healp clean those jets out , and take the whole choke out and soak the carb in carb cleaner
We use copper wire to clean jets. Soak them in hot water mixed with carby cleaner for awhile to clean em. Seen some fucking nasty carbs in my short time as an apprentice haha.
My uncle has an old shed full of all sorts of old engine additives and oils and such, I discovered that engine flush works great for cleaning carbs, it really dissolves the laquer from dead gas, also acetone fingernail polish remover works too.
Hey man, tip for next time, kerosene is actually a recommended cleaning agent. If you’d have soaked the carb in it you’d probably have a nice easy time working on it.

Great! Thanks a lot for the funniest series on TH-cam..cracked me up, .. you should double check the oiler on the carb...of course, you'd be checking it out later, .when you're gonna fine tune the mixture of 2 stroker.. keep up the good work!! :)
thanks maison! regular uploads will be amazing I'm always so happy to see a video of yours really educates. the walkthroughs are really nice and I like your humor. Killed me with the dentist meme xD . Gonna be real gentle with the plastic... 1 moment later knocking it with a hammer haha. I really have to say that this kinda of stuff is fantastic and I wish you were as detailed with the Cafe Racer as with this project, still keep it up man I'm glad to see your content :)
worth pointing out that the intake manifold probably has an o-ring on it engine side that will be brittle, flat and hard like plastic, wont look much like an o-ring but it is one, worth changing that otherwise it'll leak, most suzukis of this era are the same
GoldGuy please check the airbox before you start it, please! Check the airbox incase the foam on the air filter is just a big pile of disintegrated foam. When you start the bike with it hooked up itll suck it all right into your engine. Also you dont need the carb if you want to see if it will start, just spray some gas right into the engine and kick it over.
I know my question is not about this bike, but where did you find shinko 805 and 804 tires in 17inch rears and 16 inch fronts. because iv got a 83 gs 750 I want to put them on, but I cant find them.
Hey Maison / anybody reading this. I am looking for a rebuild kit for my suzuki TS 185 but I cant find one. Can someone point me in the right direction?
I restored my dad's 1952 BSA over the summer... it sat under a porch for over 40 years. Guess what I found in the primary case? Scorpions... f*cking scorpions..
@@GoldGuyRides Oh? He's a youtuber that explains car mechanics and he often has a toothbrush in his hand that he claims tot be his brother's. (You had "your sisters toothbrush")
please de bunk this..... old people on the internet are so hard core about not replacing the carburetor with new ones on ebay that have the same "cc"s on them. please give it a try with these old motos for the internet... u will be the first to do it and i will thank you so much to prove these old OEM folks that u can replace those with new parts and it still works fine ... and its cheaper!
@@GoldGuyRides great job on the bike. Would you know the parts numbers for the carb kit. I have the same carb and can’t figure out what kit to buy. Thanks

Great video, don't forget to put your grandmother's brush back.
The oof noise made me laugh so hard I replayed it like twenty times crying lmao
Cheers! Thanks for showing the insides of the carb. Big help

Goldguy:anything holding the throttle left
Me:exept a fucking spider.

Comedy gold 😅😅😂😂 love your video editing 👌👌
The dentist part is actually facts!😂
Good job cleaning that carb. If the engine is alright it shouldn’t be a problem getting that thing to run. Can’t wait for Tuesday
Thanks for being a fan bro! I still think you could start your own channel *tarbox customs*

That bike has definitely sat more then 5 years

I always disassemble to the last bolt all the carburetors i have, clean it up and then assemble it again

Nice VIDEO cool video........👍👍👍👍
I'm really supporting you for this build. Cuz i'm about to do so. Cool vid fam.
You ever tried boiling a carb in lemon juice?
Jesus, grandma must have some serious plaque to have to be brushing with that!
@goldguy... how does your oil injection system work?
Those lines are for the oil injection supply
You'll have much work ahead. Good luck!

Do you know what carb that is. I have the exact one and can’t figure out what rebuild kit to get. Any help would be great. I’m doing one just like it.
Sick Intro with music!
17mm?
Edit: *GOT UM!*
it is!
i ride crf 50 and i love your vids
Good stuff 👍
Carburetor cleaner eats plastics when you soak it, so use kerosene/gas/hot water etc.
What kind of carburetor? I recently got a one but it doesn't have a carburetor..so I have no reference.
PETA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahah
Good job wearing the gloves.

Bikebandit.com
Imma try to be very gently *BANG* BANG*
2 brass fittings are air and overflow lines for carb i think
My 79 gs850 has those types of carbs that aren’t controlled by vacuum, and only the throttle cable
I love it
I got the guest it write!
I need help finding a carburetor for a TS185 1981 2 stroke Suzuki
🤣🤣 grandma's toothbrush
You really need to invest in a set if welding tip cleaners thats what I use to clean jets
Where can I buy a rebuild kit?
That’s my question too. He hasn’t responded. I don’t even know what make it is
Hi I have a Honda 250xr and my intake manifold is hard and rotten and cant even screw it on to the cylinder. Is there a way I can make my own?
You can get one on eBay for cheap. I tried making an intake manifold before and it didn't work.
Confirmed: electrical tape preserves rubber!
Hey Maison / anybody reading this. I am looking for a rebuild kit for my suzuki TS 185 but I cant find one. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Get Japanese JIS screwdrivers and you will not strip the screws anymore. The Japanese ones are at a different pitch than a us Phillips.

Oooof I gotta say I'd rather find spiders than scorpions
I think the bolt is like a 17mm or a 16

@@GoldGuyRides Oh? He's a youtuber that explains car mechanics and he often has a toothbrush in his hand that he claims tot be his brother's. (You had "your sisters toothbrush")
I would have chucked the whole carb in a bucket of diesel and left it over night
Start running seafoam in your fuel , you will never clean another carb for the rest of your life ! 😎
Lookes like a black widow 😨
✌
OMG 👍
just from the carb alone it looks like that bike has prolly sat for just shy of a decade rather than just 5 years like 7-10years minimum
What's that third bike I see sitting outside?? 2:15
That would be my dad's Suzuki dr650!
Nice! Always fun when you've got riders in the family--my dad got his license a couple years ago, and my brother got his this year
That had to been sitting for 10 years at least
yeet
17 milimeter i knew it because my yamaha had the same size
Buy the thicker mechanics gloves , and not from harbor freight lol trust me
Not gonna lie i guessed 15 mm
Socket 17
Those lines are bent but you probably know bu now
Size 16 mm?
Edit: Nope it was 17...fuck
good video mate, you should invest in a 100$ gyro mount for your camera for those intros
I am getting one for Christmas!!
Stabilizer sucks, use seafoam!!!
20 dollars for floats? Jeez
