    Nice list overall with one critique, the atgeir should be attained way before the plains, as soon as you enter the Bronze Age really. It’s capable of stunlocking most everything including trolls. It can out dps most other weapons as well. Bronze, iron, black iron, all relevant.

    • @t0ssacoin408
      @t0ssacoin408  ปีที่แล้ว +54

      It is definitely viable before the plains, I just would prefer the other weapons I listed. No other weapon nukes trolls like the abyssal razor, and mace is literally a requirement for the swamp.
      Bronze age is a good time to test out all of the weapons. Its usually better to find out what you like earlier rather than later.

    • @Oncewerethrough
      @Oncewerethrough ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@t0ssacoin408 I see what you’re saying, it is a nice knife I just either disagree that it nukes trolls best or I disagree with its placement on your list. Abyssal razor damage stats are as follows: 20 slash / 20 pierce, 8 stam drain, parry 4x, 10 knock back, 6x back stab. The bronze atgeir damage stats are as follows: pierce 45, 12 stam drain, 2x parry, knock back 30, 3x backstab. Trolls are weak to pierce by 1.5x dmg.
      Also to make the knife you need chitin which you can get with a raft but it’s more likely players will find it after they have made a boat which puts you in the Bronze Age. Just offering helpful info.

      @t0ssacoin408  ปีที่แล้ว +19

      @@Oncewerethrough The nuke is all in its special attack plus backstab damage.
      You are right though. The Abyssal razor requires the extra step of making a Karve if you want a decent chance. It is nice though using 4 less stamina per each attack, and having no move speed debuff.
      Atgeir is probably better if sneak attacks arent happening often.

    • @Oncewerethrough
      @Oncewerethrough ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@t0ssacoin408 Oh I agree the sneak attack is great when you can pull it off. It’s much easier to achieve in full troll armor too. Unfortunately a lot of mobs move so much they see you and once you have aggro you’re not getting a backstab unless someone or something else pulls it off you to access their back. Backstab opportunities are only really viable in ideal situations, or in a group which I’d highly recommend someone run a dagger in the group to get those backstabs. We all have our preferences though which is understandable.

    • @t0ssacoin408

    Interesting video, pretty solid choices, though I would have also stressed having a second weapon as a backup. I never go anywhere without a bow, because even if its damage isn't great, it's provides range utility to deal with dicey scenarios and avoiding crowd aggro. Most biomes have monsters that have different weaknesses, so sometimes carrying a second weapon that addresses the less common weakness, especially if it is a significant risk, can be very hepful. You can achieve better results in mistlands with Krom, although it's a bit tricky...
    If your sword lvl is high (90-100) then the cost of 1 swing for Krom becomes 13 while mistwalker has 11, for 2 additional stamina points you get a stronger attack that staggers the enemy very often (but it lacks frost damage tho).
    By using the special attack you can deal even more damage than mistwalker, since Krom has around 500 dmg with high sword skill, this actually makes it possible to kill queen in less than 3 minutes.
    Parrying an enemy and then using a special attack is one of the best methods to kill seekers in 1 hit, also if you encounter a 2 star with Krom and you have no bonemass you can simply create a small distance between you and the seeker, use special attack that has a big reach in front of you, dealing massive damage and keeping the 2 star away from you.
    For now Krom remains as my favourite weapon in the game.

    The Flesh Rippers are also pretty under rated. If you can raise your fisting level high enough (either throughout the game or by punching your friend in duel mode) it will absolutely shred through plains mobs. I love kicking a berserker and seeing him get stunnned for easy follow up punches. Sadly mistlands is a lil too mountainy and fighting dwarves can be a bit tricky. Still fun weapon.

    hello, I completely agree! In mistlands, the freezing sword is really the best weapon in melee combat, but the best option according to me is to have Arbalest ready with Carapace arrows which are cheap to make and strong enough. It's very effective to shoot with the arbalest even if it comes to melee combat. After your shot you should switch to the ice sword and this combination seemed the most effective for me :)

      The ice sword really falls behind once you get to near max proficiency (80-100)in the sword because krom begins to stagger normal to single star seekers on first hit, making frost slowing effect obsolete.

  • @noahodum9737
    @noahodum9737 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Generally, on a solo playthrough - I'd recommend going for a club and upgrading it fully, and then switching to the iron mace in the swamp, or the bronze mace if you struggle on dodge timing
    A wooden shield + troll armor works great until you hit the swamp - with which you should build a banded shield, and an iron atgeir, along with the root chest piece, and augment with iron pieces if you can afford it. - This singular piece of armor is extremely valuable even through the Mistlands. It stops draugr archers from being a problem, reduces most of the damage from wolves and drakes, and since Moder is mostly a ranged fight, will give you bonus damage with your bow. The iron atgeir will stagger everything up to the mistlands.
    At this point I've also usually been able to acquire the abyssal harpoon. This spear is more valuable than the abyssal razor - which is an overall great weapon, but due to the variance in leviathan spawns, is unreliable to get. This will allow you to get scales and build the serpent shield. There is no parry mechanic, but it's 50% pierce damage reduction is useful later on in the plains as well as the mistlands.
    In the mountains - your bow will get a ton of use, but I don't really recommend the draugr fang. The Huntsman bow has 50% less aggro range when it hits - so it's much better for pulling a singular lox or other things once you hit, outside of this - you should build Frostner as soon as possible, as well as the wolf cape. Outside of this - skip the biome for the most part once you get onion seeds, enough silver to craft frostner, and find 3 dragon eggs - moder isn't a difficult fight, and half the times I've fought him, he's gotten stuck on terrain and couldn't do damage unless you ran up to him and face tanked his melees. Avoid the fist weapons, silver armor, and fenris armor, as the damage is lackluster, movement speed bonuses are not worth the armor tradeoff, and the silver armor will be very quickly replaced as soon as you get to the plains. (Seriously, probably 15 minutes in it'll be replaced)
    For the plains - the iron atgeir fully upgraded will stagger fuling with its special attack - same as a black metal atgeir. You should still be wearing your root chest piece, but at this point you want to upgrade your other armor to padded and fully upgrade it to level 4 - it'll have the same armor qualities as the Carapace armor. Frostner and the iron atgeir are your best friends here, smashing through fuling which are largely the biggest threat in this biome, especially as you tackle villages to acquire black metal and/or flax/barley.
    For mistlands - After trying every weapon and fighting 1 and 2 star seeker soldiers with them, the sword is useless unless you wish to swap your wisplight for meginjord, which will be rare since there is no new metal ore in the mistlands, and instead you will only be using it to transport copious amounts of black marble to create a totally original black marble wizard tower with which to craft your magic items. However, the Skol and Hati are ridiculously powerful - the attack speed alone warrants their use, but the DPS is unmatched. Their biggest problem is the inability to stagger anything, requiring you to really understand the dodge mechanics and invulnerability frames.
    For my personal use - I use the himminafl in open areas, and in the crypts I use the demolisher, with the Krom for single target fights. The Mistweaver is a slightly higher damage output than Frostner, but it's really miniscule for the amount of effort you must go through to build it. I walked into the Mistlands with a black metal atgeir, black metal sword, and a black metal shield, wearing full padded. I died significantly more than my friend who ran in with root armor and a serpent shield. I now wear full padded with the root harnesk and serpent shield, utilizing the mistweaver with it, but mostly running around with Krom and just dodging major attacks or staggering with parry.

      @@Davus Buckler is nice for small groups of fights, tower shields allow you to tank hits relentlessly. The serpent shield is viable as an alternative to the root armor, but lacks parry. I personally run it for the additional pierce reduction as that is calculated for block number, before damage penetrates your block. It is still effective, but requires different playstyle tha the parry playstyle.
      Once in the mistlands I really just recommend going magic as your build becuase you'll just have a much easier time and spend less time looking for resources for gear, and more for fun builds.

      The most optimized build is Padded helm root harnesk, fenris legs for 0% movespeed reduction and maximum armor output, but if you don't run the serpent shield and instead choose to run a buckler like the black metal shield or carapce buckler, its extremely squishy when you do get hit though, since the legs reduce armor by about 20. For weapons the Krom has the highest damage potential single target with stagger potential, but skol and hati are very similar without stagger. I personally recommend Krom + demolisher for most usecases, however an argument can be made to add a shield and sword combo. The mistwalker is an awful sword with ridiculous stamina drain for damage output.

    • @t0ssacoin408
      @t0ssacoin408  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the knives are really good. Especially with a buckler. Sadly they arent as strong in the mistlands due to all of the resistances and you cant use a buckler with skoll and hati. I do still carry a knife as my backup weapon in the Mistlands though just because I have leveled the skill a good bit.

  • @med2904
    @med2904 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    After reading a few comments here, I have no idea what's the best weapon anymore. Aside from bypassing resistances, every weapon seems to be viable and has people who love using it. So I think I'll stick with my maces and bows. Takes some time to kill BF trolls with a bow. But it's safe and way cheaper than stronger spears and knives. And can keep training maces and bows since the start, until they become invaluable in the Swamp and Mountain, and then Frostner stays relevant even in the late game.

    I know it's a bit of a grind, but the bow is absolutely the best weapon in basically all contexts when your bow skill is level 100. I don't think the devs actually anticipated someone grinding it out, but when you do it is ridiculous. However good you think the bow is, if you aren't level 100 in bows it is at least 4x better than that. You instantly draw to full strength, so you can shoot faster while the bow is doing more damage. On top of that, because you draw so quickly you use much less stamina. It takes about 3-5 stamina to fully draw the bow at level 100. So you can rapid fire while backing away from whatever you're fighting, with plenty of stamina left over to run away to create more distance. The only drawback (pun intended) is that you need ammo. Again though, at level 100, even wood arrows will eat through seekers and the gjall. It also isn't hard to get yourself a few thousand obsidian arrows.

    • @t0ssacoin408

    I've always been one hand bias in Valhiem. Twohanded weapons often swing too slowly to deal with encounters in the wild for me. Putting bows aside for now, because you're going to use bows through you're whole play through no matter what. The biggest concern for me when choosing weapons is skill level. You gain levels so slowly in this game that you'll be lucky to be over 90 in anything even if you dedicate yourself to just one weapon. The clear winner when taking this in to account Maces.
    Few things in the game were resistant to blunt damage till Mistlands launched. Many more enemies are weak to blunt. None of the bosses are uniquely resistant to blunt damage while a few are uniquely resistant to pierce. Add on to the fact that you're going to have a Bow and an Axe on you at all times anyway. There's little reason to reach for other weapons after you round out the trifecta with a mace.
    Sadly, the Developers neglected to give us a one handed mace in Mistlands. Meaning I now have to stand beside a gray dwarf nest for two hours every play through. All just to get a quarter of the skill points in swords as I'd built up in maces. It feels more like an oversight than an intentional design choice.

I mean, of course, you can loot leviathans without killing The Elder, but you need to craft Karve at least, what making copper knife easier in obtaining, and also, stats of abyssal razer are just unfair when competing with other weapons, with this logic you can skip Eikthyr, dig copper with Troll and say, that copper spear is the best on meadows, or even you can dig iron, black marble and yggdrasil wood with soldier and craft krom without killing any boss, and you may say that is the best weapon on meadows, because it annihilates nixes

The effect is a lot of times the spear bounces in a way that I get the throw hit and then can pick it back up for a 2nd close hit. Very good vid, i do agree with you in most cases, except swamp weapon because, If you are taking in consideration as best weapon for Black Forest Abyssal Razor which is (as you said) Iron tier weapon, which is tier above Black Forest (with which i also agree) why don't we take Frostner as the best weapon for Swamps, yes it is slightly harder to get than Abyssal (mostly depends how lucky u are with leviathan if u don't play with spoiler map, cuz it can actually be quite hard to find if unlucky + fighting serpents...yea, not so cool early on), but u can use the stagbreaker to find silver, you will have enough gold to buy Imir's Flesh and You can create frost potions right after Elder (i've already done that type of run) + There is no better weapon than Frostner (imo) for Swamps, because
    1. Every mob is weak vs Spirit damage (except abomination)
    2. Every mob is Wet which makes them Very weak vs Frost Damage (except abomination, but as u said u should have axe anyway + u can abuse the surtling fire strat)
    3. Its mace...so bonus points :D
    4. also tier above weapon
    5. Bonus Fun for achieving higher tier weapon so early on
    And im not talking about the fact that frostner is good in plains especially against large group of goblins and if u combo it with the porcupine, you have weapon type for everything in Plains, Frostner second best weapon vs Yagluth (first, Silver Sword) (didnt test Yagluth after Mistlands release, it might change with addition of mistwalker, which also has spirit dmg) and also the best early mistlands (as you also said) i dont think there is another weapon that does so well (before making mist weapons) on mistlands. Last thing, Ashlands incoming = everything is gonna be on Fire = weak to frost...again...which may make Frostner (and most likely Mistwalker) insane weapon for yet another Biome. (Talking only about melee weapons here, obviously melee + range combo is must have)
    Let me know what do you think about that :)

    for a support weapon :
    for meadows , well anything works as you said crude bow or flint axe
    for BF that can help in next starting next biome can be the bronze sword or mace , bronze axe is good yes but still slow for me ....
    in mountains keeping the iron mace because wrecks everything there , speacially golems
    in plains , well i far preffer for main weapon going for silver sword or frostner or maybe the BM sword because save stamina far better than atgeir even parrying with BM shield and them are very usefull against yagluth, and BM atgeir really sucks vs yagluth ( or any pure pierce weapon ) , why you didnt mention that ? someone can get a bad surprice facing that goblin ghost rider with the atgeir ...
    for mistlands , starting with frostner is a life saver there because will take some time to find the first 5 black cores , after that i really loved the crossbow , in close range is very effective when one reach lvl 50 to fast reload , the carapace spear is very strong too

    • @t0ssacoin408

      The damage difference between the 2 is not enough to justify building it at that point. Huntsman costs alot of iron to max for not much more damage.

      If you are struggling with the first boas, i'd make sure your weapon is upgraded once or twice. Make sure you have a full set of leather armor. Make sure you have decent food, so maybe 2 cooked meats and a berry. Make a round shield. Upgrade it if you can, and finally, Make sure you are rested when you fight him.
      If you do all of those things, then the fight shouldn't be too hard.

    Since your constantly going back to old biomes you should not be excluding items that you might not have initially. Frostner is the king of the swamp and its actually not hard to get silver before fighting bonemass.

      I get there are better options as you progress, but I was tackling this from the mindset of what would help you get through your current biome.

    The best weapons for all biomes is flint spear and abyssal razor.
    Try and change my mind

    Porcupines is a viable option in the mistlands.

      Definitely solid to start you off. I would eventually move on to a Mistlands tier weapon.

    Golems are easy and a good source of crystal when your playing with multiple people.

    • @t0ssacoin408

      They usually destroy my buddies and I. The caves provide me with more than enough crystal.

      @t0ssacoin408 yea me and my friends just enjoy the fight but with 3 or 4 people attacking it they go down fast. Just move on without sprinting and then dodge roll out when they attack. Run in and attack with pickaxe once then retreat. With 3 people that's 3 hits per attack so it goes quick.

    Best weapon in every biome: *THE CLUB*
    And I kinda hate the game for this. The devs decided to give EVERYONE a resistance to pierce and ALMOST everyone a resistance to slash, and elemental damage, aside from arrows, which, big surprise, still do mostly piercing damage, is only available in the end game. I just wish they made the game difficult in the way that wouldn't discriminate against anything that is not a club. Making it so it is harder to kill things with a bow while also nerfing perfectly good melee weapons because they happen to share damage type is frankly just bad game design. And I'm not saying the game is bad, I'm just saying that those things really affect my experience with it.

    • @t0ssacoin408

      I would say that the bow is S tier due to how stamina in Valheim works. Also it is way better in hardcore.

      @@mysimsadventure7914 I don't make the chapters. I guess youtube does. All biomes up to Mistlands are covered. I have a newer one that covers up to Ashlands.

      Solid all arounder and great in multiple biomes. If you only carried one weapon, Frostner is a good pick.
