Hi! Thank you for very helpful video. I bought irig HD2 last month (I watched your videos) and it changed my life totally. The guitar sound quality is way better to my normal iphone camera. I should have bought it long ago.
I wanted to start recording tests with the Ipad, and can't believe how much difference the Irig 2 HD made compared to the cheap junk I was using to make the recording tests (a COPY of the Irig 1). High Latency, high noise floor.....also with that copy junk I was getting some really nasty feedback. Plugged the Irig HD 2 , the noise was gone, the hiss and the feedback too, even with high gain amps the noise is super low. And the interface came with a killer collection of software: Amplitube All In One for the Ipad (as luck would have it, a special promotion lasting only for a while) Amplitube 4 complete for the desktop, Amplitube 5 LE, and more. And Amplitube is far superior to the amp sim in Garageband, although of course there's nothing wrong with the latter. In conclusion, the Irig HD 2 is pretty impressive, I think it's well worth it. Thank you for your video 👍
another glaring difference I noticed is that with the Irig 1 copy used in the standalone amp sim, the low end was much more pronounced than when using the same interface in Garageband with the same amp sim as inter-app. But with the Irig HD 2 the tone was exactly the same as in the standalone amp sim. This is pretty common with distorted tones and some guitars with noisier pickups. The solution is generally to upgrade to an interface that uses a digital connection like the iRig HD. studiolivetoday.com/gear

Hi Pete! I know this video is kinda old, but I´m from Argentina and the I Rig HD is pretty expensive for our current ecnomic situation... and i have my doubts... Mi question is: My budget is around fifty dollar, so, is the Tascam iXZ good for my iPad (8th generation) or do I really need to use something digital like the HD version of the IRig?
So, you will definitely get better quality audio with a digital interface, but there aren’t really many digital interfaces i that price range. The iXZ will definitely give you decent quality and probably the best in the price range. studiolivetoday.com/gear
@@PeteJohnsMusic Thanks Pete for your quick answer! So... just a question, is it possible to plug your guitar to your laptop with the irig pro i/o and use toning softwares to do the pedal’s job with the same quality as actual pedals? (featuring speakers connected to the laptop)
Hey man, so I have a question. I was thinking of buying the Irig 2 but I don’t want to use Phone amp presets is there anyway I can Record my actual amp with this and use the audio in GarageBand? Thanks 😅
Hey there. We talked about this on the podcast which you can check out here - th-cam.com/video/bKAs5EmZNwA/w-d-xo.html. In short, yes you can but you'd need an audio interface that supports a microphone input, as opposed to a guitar. You can use the line out from an amp but in my experience it doesn't do a great job.
Hey Jeff. If you are using the iRig 2 that uses your headphone jack, it should let you record in pretty much any app? Ask over at the Create Record Release Facebook group if you need help. createrecordreleaae.com
Just bought the TASCAM IXZ from your recommendation for my iPhone and it’s complete trash. Barley picks up the guitar and I can hear everything in the room for some reason. Am I doing something wrong
That’s odd? Where did you get it from? Analog interfaces will always pick up more noise (depending on your guitar) but definitely usable in my experience? Make sure you keep the gain low.

Hello Pete and thanks for your amazing videos. Is there a way to impose mono out ou the irig pro duo when plugin only one microphone ? It is in use in a school and it would be nice for some user to have direct good sound on dictaphone and not only left or only right.
Hi Pete, Bothering you once again; can I use Tascam iXZ for live streaming by inserting the headphones-monitor out (carrying finally mixed GarageBand sounds of karaoke track and vocal only) from my iPhone/iPad? I know it’s an analogue sound output but, I have another backup iPad Mini2 to use for going live. Also, with Tascam iXZ is it possible to use the microphone input and instrument input simultaneously? If so, how to do it?
Hey there. So you’d need a second audio interface, preferably stereo, to input the audio in to the other device. The standard TRRS jack technically has an input but it’s a mono microphone input so the quality wouldn’t be great even if you used a TRRS to TRS adapter. This video shows how this works with a digital keyboard and the principle is the same. th-cam.com/video/Dbz8sxuy5X0/w-d-xo.html

I think I'm goin to make an effort and buy the IRig HD (around 100 dollars in Ebay) because I'm not sure if an analogic signal would give me a decent quality while I'm recording (Right Now I have an old Irig clone and it does sound awful while I'm recording, eventhough the result later is decent) . I love your channel, keep it up!!
just a question, is it possible to plug your guitar to your laptop with the irig pro i/o and use toning softwares to do the pedal’s job with the same quality as actual pedals? (featuring speakers connected to the laptop)
Yes. The amp simulators and pedal plugins work really well. th-cam.com/video/sYlWGyq8dQQ/w-d-xo.html
I have the Irig 2 and I really use it a lot, very practical. Guys, do you know anyway to record the guitar playing with any iphone app?
@@PeteJohnsMusic I got it for like 35$ on Amazon. I’m just going to return it and pick up one of the digital ones I think . Btw all of your content is spot on and your great
I have a umc204hd audio interface. How does it compare to the ur22 when attached to my iPad?
The HD Behringers are not bad at all. The only main difference is that you pretty much need to have the powered usb hub for all Behringer interfaces - th-cam.com/video/Sc-_LiuqiRA/w-d-xo.html
Thanks
You’re very welcome my friend. I hope you get value from the other videos here on the channel and consider subscribing. 👍
Hi Pete my iRig Pro has the top light red, what it means?
Your input volume is too loud most likely.
Sorry, I am new to this. Do these iRigs allow you to play a backing track through your amp while playing your guitar through the amp as well? Thanks.
Hey there. Yes, if you’re using something like GarageBand on your device or any other DAW or software you can. th-cam.com/video/eRh8EC4gCas/w-d-xo.html
Thanks! Ordered one today.
Hello Pete and thanks for your amazing videos. Is there a way to impose mono out ou the irig pro duo when plugin only one microphone ? It is in use in a school and it would be nice for some user to have direct good sound on dictaphone and not only left or only right.
Unfortunately not, however what you can do is get a stereo to mono splitter cable and combine both channels down to mono. studiolivetoday.com/cables
Hi Pete,
Bothering you once again; can I use Tascam iXZ for live streaming by inserting the headphones-monitor out (carrying finally mixed GarageBand sounds of karaoke track and vocal only) from my iPhone/iPad?
Hey man,
Have you ever used Omec teleport/Orange or Hottone Jogg.....maybe a versus vídeo?
I haven’t used either to be honest sorry?
Ok Thanks. The idea still there
Hi Pete, great insight. What is more responsible for a great tone? The DAW or the interface. I use irig with GarageBand but feel I’m not anywhere close to the tone I’d like to get get across. Thanks I’m advance.
Sound source and then interface. DAW really doesn’t have much impact at all to be honest. It’s all just digital audio, so ones and zerosz
@@PeteJohnsMusic oh I gotcha. What do you mean by sound source?
@@TheLogan1186your guitar is the sound source. It’s always possible that your issue with time is coming from the instrument. I’m dealing with this right now
will the tascam ixz eliminate bleed?
Reduce yes. Probably not completely eliminate. A digital interface like the HD, Pro or Duo would be best.
@@PeteJohnsMusic thanks….I’m using the irig2…running the headphone out into my stereo, then from there using headphones. This almost completely eliminates bleed…but I want to upgrade…looking at options. I record guitar direct, no raging tones, so I like the sounds I get….hi gain doesn’t seem to sound good direct to my ears….where I live now I can’t crank up my amps….
@@PeteJohnsMusic meant to say I use only pedals….none of the amplitubes or whatever they are
Sonic port is another alternative, it’s now works after a hiccup with IOS 13
Oh cool! I was wondering that as I know Line 6 owners had all sorts of issues with iOS 13.
I'm Japanese guitarist.
Sorry, I can't translate this video.
So, which model is the best?
IRig Pro Duo I I’ll give you the best flexibility. studiolivetoday.com/gear
thank you!!!!
@@PeteJohnsMusic Can I get amplitube5 if I buy hd2?
I was using the cheap probably not IRig. Loving the Steinberg UR12, quality is massive!! Sounds better when I'm drinking from my SLT Mug!!
Hahah! Very cool. Steinberg really give you some clean inputs. And the mug definitely gives your playing a 20% boost. 😄
And now that the iPhone 15 finally has USBC, we're stuck with this lightning port 😩😩😩😩😂😂😂
Yeah. Thankfully the more recent irigs have shipped with Lightning, USB-C and USB-A.
Yo

Edit the title please 🥲
This would have been a good place to explain why and provide suggestions? 🤔
@@PeteJohnsMusic It says Gutiar?
@@PeteJohnsMusic LOL
I see he got right on that. LoL
@@PeteJohnsMusic Still hilariously dumb response god bless your heart
shame thew iRig ones are so over priced.
They're a little pricier than a standard interface but worth it if you want portability and no need for an adapter.
@@PeteJohnsMusic might as well get the Berhinger Um22
