You need a lesson in Disney :) The Little Mermaid was the beginning of a new generation of Disney Classics. This movie and Encanto are two great newer releases that heavily benefitted from the musical stylings of Lin-Manuel Miranda, the person that created the Musical Hamilton.
I've lived in Hawai'i my entire life, and while Hawai'i has stories of Maui's escapades, all of Polynesia can also claim ownership of the mythology... This movie is a combination of Tahiti, Samoa, New Zealand, and Hawai'i.... I am proud that Auli'i Carvalho (voice of Moana) was born and raised in Hawai'i - she was only 15 when she got the part...
9:33 - What you're thinking of are stingrays, which can inflict a lethal sting! The animals grandma is interacting with are manta-rays, which do not posses stingers and are completely harmless to humans.
If you love the grandmother character from this film, I suggest you check out the great grandmother character in Pixar's 2017 animated film "Coco". Coco is a film I used to show to my students (I'm a retired Spanish teacher) around Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead), November 1 & 2. It still has lots of music so the effort you put into editing and meeting copyright requirements, as always, is appreciated.
This is such a criminally underrated movie. I like it far better than Frozen, and the soundtrack composed by Lin-Manuel Miranda, **chef's kiss** The "rayas" word you were looking for are stingrays ;)
Underrated? It's one of the most acclaimed Disney movies of all times, loved by critics and public alike. Could it get any higher rated than it already is? I'm very confused. :P
I hear that... March here in Vermont state (US) and its 20s then 50s+ then 20s again, haha! The good old North East... Voice of Moana's dad is the actor for Boba Fett in Star Wars.
At 11:05. The hand method the chief used is a combination of navigational techniques to sail the open ocean called 'Wayfinding'. A once thought lost knowledge that was taught to Hawai'i from the Master Navigator Mau Piailug of the Caroline Islands.
Some songs in the movie are actually by Te Vaka 1:35 Tulou Tagaloa 5:01 Loimata e matagi song at 10:54 co-written ad composed by Te Vaka’s leader Opetaia Foa’i and Lin Manuel also sung by Te Vaka. Song at 22:57 Logo Te Pate by Te Vaka
Great reaction, ladies! This is my favorite Disney animated film after The Lion King was released (I’m an old school Disney watcher, born in 1966, so my favorites other than Moana were the ones from The Little Mermaid through The Lion King). My favorite thing about Moana is the theme is self-knowledge. “I am MOANA!” “Fish hook, no fish hook, I’m Maui.” “Do you know who you are? Who you truly are.” Even “Looks like I chose the right tattoo.” The two true antagonists here are Moana’s father and the crab, and they are the ones who deny their true selves. The crab would rather be shiny, all surface, without exploring his inner self, and the father rejects his true adventurous self for safety at home. The other antagonist, Te Ka, has lost her true self of Te Fiti after her heart was stolen, so has no way of knowing herself correctly. BTWm the coconuts were a late addition to the film, inspired by the movie Mad Max Fury Road and its use of drums to rev up the troops.
Really like you girls reactions. This is one of the Best Animated Movies i seen in Decades ! it has amazing Animation great story full of heart and emotions, great characters voices and music
Manta Rays are actually harmless - it is the Stingray that is far more dangerous. You can even do night dives to see Manta Rays swim all around you off of the Big Island in Hawai'i...
Dwayn Johnson's maternal grandfather was a wrestler who's character was a Polynesian Chieftan. Photos of his grandfather were used as inspiration for Maui.
11:31 The thing with the stars is you know your latitude on the earth based on which constellations cross over head during the night. The longitude is a bit more tricky as you need to know the exact time and/or the day of the year. Actually if your know the day of the year you can tell the time by the stars (modified slightly by your longitude). The main one to pay attention to in the north are the big dipper and Casepea (a W looking constellation).
Those creatures are Manta Rays they are completely harmless. I've fed and even held one. The Sting Rays are only one that can sting. And even then they're usually very docile. They only get agitated if there are predators around. They are very unlikely to sting. I've held them as well.
Omg! I never knew there was an after credits scene, and as my favorite Disney movie (and that’s saying a lot) I’m so glad TH-cam recommended this to me! I’m glad you both loved it, and I totally subbed to both of you after this. Thank you for the video 😊
I live on the island of Maui, and we are no where near as eccentric as the Maui presented in this film. We're suburbia with a nice helping of tourism and beautiful parks, farms and ranches.
Te Vaka the group who were in charge of the songs in it is a group that us Polynesians and even every nation in the Pacific knows and loves❤❤ they are from Tokelau a region attached to New Zealand🏝️🏝️ What they called "Lalotai"(literal trad is under the sea)the monsters' realm is a reference to what we called in the Polynesian myths the "Pō" the underworld realm of all supernatural creatures, spirits and gods and the sea rivers and watersources were considered as portals or paths to it For Maui's story he wasn't really abandonned he was born prematurely and his mom thought he was dead and made a baskets of algues and her own hair and left him to the sea and the gods found and raised him
Polynesians are considered some of the world's best navigators. Being able to navigate the largest ocean on earth is a skill. Moana also means ocean in a lot of Polynesian languages, and in a lot of our cultures, destruction and creation are on in the same. Our islands were most created by volcanoes (destruction), but volcanic soil is some of the most furtile soil (creation). I feel like Disney has just added another story to our myths and legend's
Grandma held onto the stone all of those years (and she was old then), the stone kept her alive until Moana was ready, and she willingly gave it up to her knowing she would soon pass away without it. Also this was a powerful movie for a lot of women I know, Tefiti had her true self scarred by a man, that loss of heart turned her afraid and angry at the world. It took another woman to see who she really was and help her see it too as she returns her heart.
I love this movie ❤. Where I work my boss and I would sing the songs all the time. I think your friend should watch The Little Mermaid first if she has not yet. That is the film that set off the second renaissance of Disney animation.
The movie is just a culmination of all parts of Polynesia so no one nation can claim this as their movie. When you grow up around these cultures it is easier to identify what likely came from where, like some of the patterns on the clothes look like they’re from Tonga or Hawai’i but some of the greenery looks like it’s the native ferns of NZ. Anyways! Pretty easy mistake to make if you’re not an animal nut like me but the animal grandma is playing with and eventually turns into is actually a manta ray. A very large and highly intelligent fish that looks similar to a stingray from a distance but grows to be much larger and doesn’t have a venomous spur on its tail. The ones grandma was playing with in the beginning were small because they were pups
The music of this movie was done by a Polynesian band called Te Vaka. It was while listening to their music that the Disney creators got the idea to make this movie. I might recommend watching their music video Lakalaka And you may wish also to watch them play Loimata e maligi, and learn of the sad story that was responsible for the melody played while baby Moanna receives the heart of Tafiti.
No way! I discovered both of you the same day while watching through The Last of Us reactions and yall were my favorite reactors of the bunch. I thought my youtube had a bug and mixed up videos or something lol. Glad to see this collab!
Polynesian has the most beautiful beaches in the world you have Tonga, Cook Islands, Samoa, Niue, New Zealand, Tuvalu, Tahiti,Hawaii , Fiji … And micronesia and melanesia too have beautiful places and beaches too
Fantastic reaction from Liala and her friend. This is one of my favorite animated movies ever, the music is beautiful. Moana, Maui and Chicken make a great team.
Here are links to the songs I was talking about Lakalaka th-cam.com/video/ausm7Agez7Q/w-d-xo.html Loumata e maligi With Lyrics and English subtitles th-cam.com/video/lX3YX1ffzDI/w-d-xo.html
Of course we want to see you to cry your eyes out, so... Pilar, you should go for Pixar's "Coco". Be aware of grandma's storyline in that movie (it's going to touch your heart so deeply). It's about a mexican young boy and an amazing tribute to mexican heritage and specialy to 'Día de Muertos' (Day of the Dead).
Had so much fun filming this reaction with you girly! Can’t wait to do more in the future ✨ The chicken I will never forget 😅

I didn’t know that
And Solomon Islands with some broadly Micronesian aesthetic!
Also Tokelau and Tuvalu (as per Opetaia Foa'i).
9:33 - What you're thinking of are stingrays, which can inflict a lethal sting! The animals grandma is interacting with are manta-rays, which do not posses stingers and are completely harmless to humans.
Such an extra special reaction. Thank you both.
As an Atla fan your decor is everything to me. You even have an orchid that reminds me of the white jade plant.🥰
Dwayne Johnson (Maui) grew up and went to school up until the 10th grade in Hawai'i.
If you love the grandmother character from this film, I suggest you check out the great grandmother character in Pixar's 2017 animated film "Coco". Omg, yes please! Please react to CoCo, I would love to see that. Also, more Disney if you can 🥰💕

You two guys NEED to watch Tangled!!! PLEASE!
I love the song the monster crab sang "Everything Is Shiney" and he, himself was hilarious.😂
At 11:05. The hand method the chief used is a combination of navigational techniques to sail the open ocean called 'Wayfinding'. A once thought lost knowledge that was taught to Hawai'i from the Master Navigator Mau Piailug of the Caroline Islands.
"Are we going to get a back story?" Quite the pun, Pilar! 22:15
@@pilarslittlestudio I know. That's what makes it even more funny!!! 😂🤣😂
Loved watching your reacts. Such a pleasure to get Liala to join in.
My fav moment is when the waters part at the movie climax. :)
Best morning watch on a Sunday.

You beat me to it. Maururu!

Two of my favorites reacting together! 👌
Wayfinder was from our star navigators in FSM (Micronesia) and they taught it to Polynesians and Hawaiians. Our country is an archipelago
Yall have great chemistry reacting together
Aladdin would be a fantastic one to see too! So good and Robin Williams!
Dwayn Johnson's maternal grandfather was a wrestler who's character was a Polynesian Chieftan. Photos of his grandfather were used as inspiration for Maui.
the grandma's spirit is a stingray
what I love about this movie is that aside from the crab, and he's more a side char, there is no real villian here.

Collabo! What a nice surprise. You guys compliment each other. I hope this becomes a thing.
Omg! I never knew there was an after credits scene, and as my favorite Disney movie (and that’s saying a lot) I’m so glad TH-cam recommended this to me! I’m glad you both loved it, and I totally subbed to both of you after this. Thank you for the video 😊
Finally! Someone shows it!
I live on the island of Maui, and we are no where near as eccentric as the Maui presented in this film.
We're suburbia with a nice helping of tourism and beautiful parks, farms and ranches.
Maui he is the coolest and amazing guy ever he is with Moana in the boat on the ocean
Moana and Merida from Brave are my favorite Disney Heroins. Love this movie and Dwaynes contribution. Great reaction!!!

Perfect, thank you ladies, that was the best collaboration, please deliver more.
Ok, I didn't know I needed this collab
I love this duo ❤
Such a fun time two beautiful woman and one great story the editor gets so much respect for seeming so much beauty effortlessly 👍
I still got that movie
Disney heroes get an "I want" song. Villains get an "I am" song. Moana got both. And then she got a "you are" song.
Te ka means the fire, the burning one and the death and te fiti means the life, the living one, the green one and the mother one
Nice collab two cute Latinas reacting to a funny movie always cool 😊
Loved this movie, thanks
You've talked a lot about coming this far on your own a lot of the time -- it's dope to see you building bridges with other TH-camrs!
Tangled and Frozen came out back-to-back (for the most part). There is a debate as to which one is the better film, I am in the Tangled camp
The creatures surrounding grandma in the water are called "Sting rays".
I see that you two have come to the proper decision/realization: Disney cartoons are NOT for children, and never were.
Wow I did not know you guys knew each other I Watch both your channels!
Buen duo, TLOU 2 juntas👍
I watched both of you watch The Last of Us!! This is a great collab.
Yes that is where I’m from hawaii

The only thing cuter than this movie is watching you two watch this movie
"The fishhook" is Scorpio, it is a southern Constellation. Orion is the other easily identifiable constellation in the Southern Sky.
Today I learned that Sebastian has a Colombian accent in the dub of the Little Mermaid!
They're called Stingrays or Manta Rays.
You should Encanto to the Queue. Great Video!
Grandma held onto the stone all of those years (and she was old then), the stone kept her alive until Moana was ready, and she willingly gave it up to her knowing she would soon pass away without it.

The animal that the grandma turns into is called a manta ray.
10:03 "Mantis" (Man -tis)
I discovered both of you through your last of us reactions!! This collab is a pleasant surprise 😁
felicidades pilar
que bueno verte hacer colaboraciones e ir creciendo cada vez mas
todavia no me creo la que hiciste con los normies
saludos!!!
I love this movie ❤. Where I work my boss and I would sing the songs all the time. I think your friend should watch The Little Mermaid first if she has not yet. That is the film that set off the second renaissance of Disney animation.
While the story maybe seen as overrated but as far the heart, humor and songs go, MOANA is a must enjoy DISNEY classic.
@17:01 language!

All of Te Vaka's albums are worth a listen, and there are videos, too.
This is my top 5 Disney movie ever lol
I'd love to see your reaction to Encanto.
La Pili no decepciona, está más fuerte que la inflación acá en Argentina.
In my opinion Princess & The Frog still tops Disney princess movies.
No way! I discovered both of you the same day while watching through The Last of Us reactions and yall were my favorite reactors of the bunch. I thought my youtube had a bug and mixed up videos or something lol. Glad to see this collab!
Polynesian has the most beautiful beaches in the world you have Tonga, Cook Islands, Samoa, Niue, New Zealand, Tuvalu, Tahiti,Hawaii , Fiji …
And micronesia and melanesia too have beautiful places and beaches too
I may be wrong, your thinking sting rays, those are mana rays, related I believe but not as dangerous.
Yeah this movie is pretty cool although it’s not my favorite because my favorite is the hunchback of Notre Dame 1996 but yeah it’s still pretty cool
Volcanoes vs islands berth. Is the major theme
Fantastic reaction from Liala and her friend. This is one of my favorite animated movies ever, the music is beautiful. Moana, Maui and Chicken make a great team.
Lol I'm learning how to use the stars now 😅😅
8:41 thos are manta rays! Non dangerous to humans :3
There are a lot of Easter Eggs in this movie
The craters are called stingrayes
Ham & eggs!
Those are manta rays, they’re not dangerous. Stingrays are dangerous but non aggressive.
Dwayne Johnson one of my favorite character of Moana
Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote a lot of the music. I got the soundtrack album.
Have you given up on your book review?
Here are links to the songs I was talking about

React tangled please!!
I highly recommend Coco
I’m new here
Ya que estás con Disney... Por favor reacciona a Raya y El Último Dragón si no la has visto !
Please convince Niala to let me wife her up 😔😔😔
¿Cómo es que os conocéis?
Of course we want to see you to cry your eyes out, so... Pilar, you should go for Pixar's "Coco".

It's about a mexican young boy and an amazing tribute to mexican heritage and specialy to 'Día de Muertos' (Day of the Dead).
Stingray or mantarraya in Spanish
can you please stop interrupting the movie
Wtf do you think a reaction is? They cant show all of it. Disney will have their ass on copyright.
U should have listened to the song carefully smh
You should watch what we do in the shadows it's got the crab in it.
