I love that they committed to the bit and actually made everything pizza themed. They didn't have to and could've gotten away with sneaking in some other foods from Japan but they didn't. That's great The Recipes look good even if you probably shouldn't eat a pizza every day like the turtles. Btw I would love to see some of the Masked Mutations style Dishes too.
Yeah I agree. Very much in spirit with the Turtles to make it all about pizza. And yeah the Masked Mutations stuff look really interesting. I wanna do a vid on those pizza dumplings one day
@@MisoHungrieI do wish there was some more creative dishes but I love pizza and usually I cook pizza homemade so I would probably pick this up if I found it.
I was kind of surprised when i got it that the recipes are pretty legit. I was expecting sort of a very dumbed down version for kids. Its not super high end artisanal pizza or anything but it sits in a comfortable middle ground.
I have been working at a pizza place for almost 25 years. You did great for your first go. It really is much better to stretch by hand then to use a rolling pin. A good way is to dock or use your fingers to make a rim around the edge of the dough ball about 1/2 inch thick then stretch out the rim between two hands until you reach the desired size. The inside should stretch out naturally without getting those thin spots in the middle that cause inconsistent textures in the crust and it's easier to keep the shape round. Once you comfortable with that you can move on to slapping, tossing and spinning if you are feeling adventurous. Sorry. Just had to drop my 2 cents as a professional.😸
I must say, many cookbooks you have reviewed really expanded my palatable horizon to the question "How can anyone make a cookbook dedicated exclusively to a license?? How would that even work??" But between books like this TMNT pizza book and even the Jurassic World cookbook, the creativity is fun and even inspires me to give these recipes a try!
Glad to hear that! Yeah that's the main reason why I collect these cookbooks, I'm always curious to see how they would make it work. These authors do a fantastic job!
Nah, geeky recipes and cookbooks are usually pretty interesting, as long as it goes beyond make mickey mouse shaped pancakes or super hero color themed cupcakes. Fantasy and adventure books in particular sometimes go to great lengths to outline exotic and unusual sounding feasts in great detail. * cough Redwall cough* And amusement parks started picking up on it, such as with butter beer from Harry Potter at Universal.
My TMNT book came in a Pizza box which was pretty dope. And I highly suggest this book because its recipes are pretty solid. So many great dishes in it for the kiddos.
That intro was absolutely beautiful, a true work of art. All of the recipes being pizza or pizze flavored is a great way to stay on theme but I'd probably keep sliding down the shelf to see what other cookbooks are there.
I love this series- please never stop. Your input with the designs and the way this is all cleanly and easily presented makes this my favorite recipe review series. You always commit all the way and it feels very approachable and easy to understand. Makes me confident to try my hand at these recipes and books!
What a coincidence, I made pizza just last night! I love how this cookbook balances new and old flavours, it seems like a well rounded cookbook, I might have to pick it up, just for the variety. Thanks for the great video!
I love the design of this cookbook. Its like the 80s and 90s. Its amazing. Also that chunky marinara like sauce for the 1st pizza... oof that look delicious! That smore pizza does seem pretty decent. Id imagine its more like my mothers chocolate pie. Graham cracker crust, chocolate pudding, etc.
Guys...good pizza is SO easy to make and SO cheap as well. Make your own dough. Get some mozzarella, pepperoni/sausage(pre cooked). Make sure you roll your dough right and throw it all together. I make a really small crust that way the ingredients go to the edge... you can also get a sweet bbq sauce, white/yellow onions, and some precooked chicken and you got a BOMB bbq-chicken pizza. When you can make budget and delicious foods meet in the middle then its extra delicious!
One super easy trick for a new york or netropolitan style pizza is when using the low moisture pre shredded stuff to toss the cheese in a bowl with a little bit of olive oil, the combination of the low moisture high surface aria the anti clumping agents (corn starch and insoluble fiber) and the oil helps to get a similar cheese texture to pro pizza's in an oven that wont go above 550F.
Though I wouldn't call myself the biggest TMNT fan, I still think this a surprisingly creative book and definitely one I'll have to look for! Pretty crazy how they really went and dedicated the whole thing to pizza. Gotta show off that classic mutant terrapin ninja diet ig lol
More revisited content from previous cookbooks coming up! I went back to the Fallout cookbook several times but unfortunately I haven't had time to go back to the WOW ones. Definitely want to though!
Finally got around to making the pizza dough, had a bit of trouble with trying to stretch it, kept making holes in it, so in the end I just rolled it out, but it baked up really well! I also made the pizza sauce and at first I couldn't get rid of the acid but after a while cooling it mellowed out and then once it was baked on the pizza at high temperature it was much sweeter. Definitely going to be making more and practising my technique.
I love when the algorithm gives me a suggestion that I have actually been wanting. Loved the video. Now I just have to wait until the Legend of Zelda cookbook review ;)
I know I watched that old cartoon, but I don't remember a lot about it. I love the theme for a pizza-specific cookbook. The opening for this episode was super-entertaining!!
without even seeing how good the recipes are, i know that i would buy this one in a heartbeat, i LOVE Pizza and i LOVE TMNT, grew up on it since the 80s.
As an italian I learned that I should never cook a pizza for too long, first the mozzarella is going to shit itself, burning and such and second all the water mixed in the dought will evaporate, leaving the dought hard to eat and not anymore soft and crunchy. Sadly I dont have anything that can reach 400°C, pizza dough should cook in few minutes (3 to 5 max, I think in naples they cook it between 1 and 2 minutes) to mantain hydratation and ingredients not burning ;;
New subscriber here! I love your channel and personality. Also, that intro was too cute. You've also given me reasons to buy some cookbooks. Thanks! 😘❤️🌻
Wanna know how to make authentic NYC style pizza? Import NYC's water. Yes, the water. NYC's water and it's make-up of minerals ans stuff is literally one of the components in making NYC pizza the way it is! Great video btw, love what you do here!
hahaha that intro was gold. and you did such a great job forming your pizza, especially for a first try! I love pizza and I kind of want to get this cook book just for more ideas lol
Just discovered your channel with this video, loved the whole concept! I would love to see more pizzas from this cookbook! You do a great job of narrating and explaining the recipes, and the pizzas came out beautifully.
You know this guy's an actual fan of the Ninja Turtles when he doesn't even acknowledge any of the movies other than the first one. Only true fans do that.
Oh fuck yeah I’m early, I love these videos and I always can’t wait to see what kind of wacky pop culture cook book is next, keep up the great work man!
This is fun AF... I honestly was multi-tasking through most of this video and not really paying attention, but whatever aesthetic/spirit you are focusing on and recapitulating with this video... I highly approve of 💖💚🧞 I have a VHS of a TMNT Spring special that I bought growing up. Yes I love the turtles, Nausicaa and the Ninjas could make a heaven. Pizza forever, no rennet plz 🙏🌿🐄
Well worth the wait, another great critique! If I could throw out a cook book recommendation, I would love to see you take a look at Gotham City Cocktails (The Batman drink and snack book), I think making wacky Gotham themed drinks and snacks would make for a really fun video, it also has potential for an amazing intro! Cheers!
A funny deep lore fact is that pizza was meant to be a stand in for beer. The original 1984 version of the turtles were alcpholics who drank frequently, so pizza was swapped in as a child friendly alternative and that stuck ever since.
Amazing video !! I love the Turtles so much, they’ve always been a huge part of my life. This video was so fun to watch, I really wanna see you take a stab at other pizzas. I need more !!
Got the cookbook plus a matching apron in a little pizza box shaped container at a boxlunch in my local mall when the newest tmnt movie came out a few months ago
