Wow, Millstone Mayhem was the definition of big-brain time. Going through incredible lengths to sacrifice Diddy Kong to allow Donkey Kong to take the warp barrel, only to sacrifice Donkey on reentry to allow Diddy to finish properly.
Normally to enter the bonus barrel I end the level with, you need to enter a barrel on the right of the banana that's briefly seen at 13:47. After you enter the bonus barrel, it will disappear, so if you would then enter the barrel at the banana to be blasted to the left, you'll eventually go all the way to the barrel seen at 13:37 and shot up to the right on the platform.

Always fascinates me about the many secret ways to get to levels or more so every stage is unique and different even if it is all stages one area of a map. Makes me wonder witch levels is where in the map lol but like damn. Now I want to play the game
I have this game on my hacked psp and I've just learned how to the jump roll glitch. Is it possible for me to do the super jump roll with extendos in Forest frenzy as well or do I have to use a tas run to do that?
Wait, how do you get that warp at the first world, right at 9:08 in the video? I remember I was able to get it right on the actual console back in the days, but now everytime I try it on the emulator, I just don't get it. Wonder if it's somewhat related to the version of the game, and I'm playing a different version than the one I used to play? More likely that I just don't remember what buttons to press, or even a input lag (i clearly remember this trick was difficult because it was almost a frame-perfect input)... What buttons do you press for that?
That warp will only work on US 1.0, 1.1 and PAL 1.0, 1.1. It won't work on US 1.2, which includes all released for Virtual Console and it will also not work on any Japanese version. The way it's done is to simply press a button: A, B, X, Y or Start, in one of the four corners on the map screen. The timing is one frame only, so it might be a bit tricky, but if you just spam the buttons you'll get it eventually. And you must only have one character on the map or both in the Funky Barrel, as seen in this TAS. Hopefully you'll get it to work! =)
TASes end their timing on the final input needed to reach "The end". The jump I did at 41:18 was the last input press after that I just wait for KKR to return, take a hit, Donkey jumps up automatically and hits him on the way down.
If you jump when approaching the narrow path, you can jump through the first part of it and be able to land on enemies in the tunnel. At the start of any of the phases of the Really Gnawty, take hit before he starts his high jumps, which will then skip the cycle.
Hey Tompa, I'd love to see a short video on how you made this if possible. I am curious how TAS works and although I can watch tutorial vids, they usually show mario games and I'd love to see how you record/create some of these cool tricks. I watched this but I had no idea what is happening.I played the Gba version so the overworld level select screen was a complete mess. This is my first time seeing the Snes version.
I only go by what the game itself considers to be 101%, which is not even all boss fights, only the final boss is technically neccesary for this. All bananas and balloons are impossible to get all without replaying levels several times. In the GBA version, the 101% requires you to get all KONG letters however, because you are needed to get the 52 cameras.
Alright, Tompa, because I'm curious. Exactly how much time do you save by doing that warp to Orang-utan Gang as opposed to just beating Master Necky and playing through World 3 normally?
Hmm, good questions. I rarely save my numbers, how much faster/slower something it. I just tested it, the result showed it was faster and then I was happy and continued. I suppose I could check...
I'm setting up a glitch called Superjump. I first need to wait for the Krusha to walk towards the edge of the platform, I use this opportunity to do a little glitch with the TNT barrel. If you press Down and release Y just after making a jump, you are able to put the barrel down in midair. Most barrels will just drop down to the ground again, but the TNG barrel will stay in midair while it explodes, which looks kinda neat. Anyway: For the Superjump there are a couple of steps you need to do. First, get hit with the Kong you want to activate the glitch with later. I had to switch to Donkey Kong, because the barrel I go into doesn't spawn as Diddy. You need to get hit so that Donkey makes a high jump and disappears off-screen, which you need the slope for. Next, break a DK barrel to get him back. The next time you take damage, you want to hold down the B button and land on an enemy. You'll now fly upwards for as long as you hold down B. And that's what I do to reach that Warp Barrel. Normally, you are supposed to go further to the right, find a tire and then push it back to the left, which is a lot slower to do than this. Hope that explains it, otherwise I'll gladly clarify!

@@TompaA no. Lol the one in Forest frenzy. After the initial jump roll you do another one combined with a cartwheel past the bees into the bonus barrel past the neckys. I've been enamored with this manuver and I've been trying to do it on my hacked psp. I'm able to do the first jump roll cancel but the next one with cartwheel is harder than the devil lol

It's a tricky one. While I used a glitch to reach it, you are normally supposed to push a tire from the right. You can only enter the barrel as Donkey.
what I've come to believe is that DK games are biasedly chosen by which game the player played 1st in the Snes series. I love 1 but sum ppl I know swear 2 or 3 are better graphically and musically/gameplay etc and I just solely agree differently from them.

I was very surprised the 100% category doesnt include getting KONG letters on every stage, and getting all the bannanas, 1ups, etc.
