It’s even crazier in Plush’s (somewhat) new 1:20.80 TAS where he even beats Koopa the Quick to the mountaintop after getting 99 coins (and uses Instant Release combined with the bob-omb being reactivated at the mountaintop to get a double star spawn. Honestly imagine that part from his perspective. You challenge some short fat plumber to a race then not only does he finish in some reality warping times he also starts doing loops in the sky at mind breaking speeds going from ground to hight limit moments apart from eachother. To me the 100 coins and 8 red coins stars are some of the most mesmerizing to watch. They perfectly combine insane acrobatics with following the flow the designers intended.
How about the approximately 10 seconds he had to wait for Koopa the Quick in Tiny Huge Island? He took damage from a goomba and then casually pushed on the fence.
Bowser is watching Mario throughout his whole adventure as he collects the 120 stars that had previously been scattered throughout the castle. Bowser is growing more and more concerned for his personal safety when Mario doesn't die. Ever. Bowser is tremendously terrified of Mario when he begins to flip and kick and literally clip through walls because he's moving with such speed and grace. By the third battle with Bowser he just gives up and gives Mario the final Grand Star.
He actually does die. 1:05:18 It's a DSG (death star grab) where Mario dies somehow (in this case the death barrier) and then gets a star before Mario becomes immobile and intangible (in this case by using water's property of always sending you to the surface when you jump in)
I did the math, and yes, it's an average 40.3415 seconds per star (including the end battle until the input stops) but from the moment the game starts up to the moment Mario touches the 120th star, it would be an average 39.9833 seconds, because the game started up 2 seconds into the video (the intro was 2 seconds long) so Mario actually touched the 120th star at 1:19.58 in the game, or 79.9666 minutes. Sorry, got a bit of time on my hands.

@@Galax395 I have some underlying health issues which can lead to premature death, so I heard about fasting can help fix many issues so I decided to give it a go by dry fasting (no food or water) I could only do it for 1-2 days a week without feeling too weak, but a few months in my heart started racing and it let weaker and weaker. When I would eat something unhealthy it would race hard. One night it was racing hard and a tall figure in white appeared and was praying towards the picture of Jesus in my room, he said something like “please don’t let him die from a heart attack”, then soon after he disappeared and I heard the audible voice of God tell me some stuff then that voice stopped then I felt my body being lifted and life being pumped back into my heart and I was healed thank God, Jesus is God and He is very loving and a miracle worker.

oh Nathaniel you were wathing watching speed run of super Mario 64 for the frustrating series huh but its a 120 star speed run and you did a 70 star speedrun
The fastest star collected was "Blast to the Lonely Mushroom" which was collected in 0:05. You can see that in the time frame 1:05:30. The slowest star to collect was "Elevate for 8 Red Coins" which was collected in 1:50. You can see that in the time frame 27:44.

@@aturchomicz821 Most if not all of the stars in this TAS have had improvements since 2012. Some of just a few frames, some of entire seconds. A new 120 star TAS has been in the works for years, but is progressing very slowly.
You clearly don't understand how difficult optimal swimming is in sm64. You can lose time and not realise how. It looks simple but any speedrunner you see swimming has probably put in many many hours to get it right.

there's a misalignment of the floor triangles there that gives you a 1 unit by 1 unit position where the floor has no collision, iirc pannenkoek2012 has a video on it
Bowser, having successfully abducted the Princess without Mario's knowledge and cast the necessary spells to craft the many painting worlds scattered throughout the castle, checks to make sure that he had carefully hidden the 120 stars that he painstakingly broke free of castle's grid in these worlds. Months of work, dozens of black magic spells cast, and hundreds of hours of labor from the koopa work force. But it was finally done - he decides to take a well deserved nap while the hapless plumber surely takes time to figure out what's going on and stumble through finding the first few stars. Maybe this time Mario would fail or give up or even die, but Bowser wasn't going to leave that to chance. Not this time. There's still so much to do, and Bowser doesn't have time to waste. But ninety minutes won't kill him - all his work will surely still be there when he wakes up.

@@saintzayan8205 No, its called backwards long jumps (BLJs). It works because when you long jump, you get some speed boost. If you do long jumps backward, then you get a negative speed boost, and so because negative speed isn't capped in this game, you can keep accelerating if you chain lots of BLJs together quickly

As Luigi, I have to say that my brother Mario is truly an amazing individual. He is an expert at jumping, fighting and exploring, and I have always looked up to him and admired his abilities. He has a special kind of courage and determination that is truly admirable. I wish I could learn from him and acquire some of his skills, his adventure and skills are truly unmatched. I am always in awe of his bravery and quick thinking when it comes to defeating enemies and overcoming obstacles. If only I could be half as skilled and brave as he is, I would be one happy Luigi.

Bowser is watching Mario throughout his whole adventure as he collects the 120 stars that had previously been scattered throughout the castle. Bowser is growing more and more concerned for his personal safety when Mario doesn't die. Ever. Bowser is tremendously terrified of Mario when he begins to flip and kick and literally clip through walls because he's moving with such speed and grace. By the third battle with Bowser he just gives up and gives Mario the final Grand Star.
He actually does die. 1:05:18
It's a DSG (death star grab) where Mario dies somehow (in this case the death barrier) and then gets a star before Mario becomes immobile and intangible (in this case by using water's property of always sending you to the surface when you jump in)

I did the math, and yes, it's an average 40.3415 seconds per star (including the end battle until the input stops) but from the moment the game starts up to the moment Mario touches the 120th star, it would be an average 39.9833 seconds, because the game started up 2 seconds into the video (the intro was 2 seconds long) so Mario actually touched the 120th star at 1:19.58 in the game, or 79.9666 minutes.

The fastest star collected was "Blast to the Lonely Mushroom" which was collected in 0:05. You can see that in the time frame 1:05:30. The slowest star to collect was "Elevate for 8 Red Coins" which was collected in 1:50. You can see that in the time frame 27:44.

@@aturchomicz821 Most if not all of the stars in this TAS have had improvements since 2012. Some of just a few frames, some of entire seconds. A new 120 star TAS has been in the works for years, but is progressing very slowly.

You clearly don't understand how difficult optimal swimming is in sm64. You can lose time and not realise how. It looks simple but any speedrunner you see swimming has probably put in many many hours to get it right.

Maybe this time Mario would fail or give up or even die, but Bowser wasn't going to leave that to chance. Not this time.
There's still so much to do, and Bowser doesn't have time to waste. But ninety minutes won't kill him - all his work will surely still be there when he wakes up.

If you do long jumps backward, then you get a negative speed boost, and so because negative speed isn't capped in this game, you can keep accelerating if you chain lots of BLJs together quickly

As Luigi, I have to say that my brother Mario is truly an amazing individual. He is an expert at jumping, fighting and exploring, and I have always looked up to him and admired his abilities.
