I hate it when people don't use the ratchet and say you just need to "feel". NO! The ratchet is there for consistency. Every ones "feel" is different and it could be several tenths off between users if you don't use the ratchet. If anybody ever set's micrometers to a mic standard by "feel" they should be schooled in the matter. Especially if there are multiple users. But even if there aren't multiple users your subjective "feel" could easily be different from one day to the next. Always use the ratchet!!!!!

There’s a reason why everyone says not to use the cowbell
With using the ratchet on the top you don’t get a feel that’s the biggest problem
If it’s a community tool or has a limiting sensor on it that’s different but if it’s a personal tool you shouldn’t be using the cowbell

I've always admired the 220 and wanted one, but could never justify the cost. After your video I can see the advantages and will start looking for one. Thank you.

Great video. I just acquired a Starrett 220 but I don’t have any of the anvils. Do you know where I can purchase them other than Starrett?

Consider buying a Chinese knock off and using those Annville’s instead that would probably be the cheapest
