New toys... Watched all the way through, so cool how you used it too.

Best video I have seen yet of explaining this! I just took a job learning to rebuild spindles and been using dial indicators, micrometers, bore gauges and all those precision tools. Been looking on TH-cam quite a bit to learn more about them. Because I’m starting at the very bottom again because I know pretty much nothing about them. The only thing I have going for me is being mechanically inclined. I did hvac for 9 years but it was time for a change. I’m glad I didn’t know how much math was involved ahead of time because I wouldn’t have taken the job. Overall it’s interesting so far.

I’m with you and like the simplicity for math, so I’d didn’t get the .0005 gauge when I need to know thousandths and want it to simply range from 0-100 😀

Great video. Very informative. I recently purchased one of these , not same brand. I needed one so I could measure the end float in my 57 Plymouth axles. Factory it's meant to be 0.08 -- 0.012 .currently
    It has 0.032.

Does the longer knurled cap/knob on the indicator twist to allow you to lock the plunger in position?
