    Hey Ed what are all the items I need when replacing the oil pan? as far as o rings drain plug, drain plug gasket and sealer

    • @EdBwoy
      @EdBwoy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Are you doing this to repair a damaged pan? Meaning you are installing the exact pan that was on the engine?
      If so, all you need are the 2 oil pump o-rings. *15066-AR000*
      *11128-1P10A* drain plug
      *11026-JA00A* drain plug gasket
      Then I use gray RTV.
      If you're changing the oil strainer, then get that gasket as well. *15053-31U00*

      I'll look for it in my garage to see if by chance I kept it.
      During the project, I kept thinking to myself, "I wonder if I should rewrite this sheet and make a few laminated copies. Would anyone else ever care for this kind of info?"

    do i have to take out my engine ? to do my oil pan and rack and pinion r can i just take off my k frame and change my oil pan i’m doing it myself

    • @EdBwoy
      @EdBwoy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've seen people do it by raising the engine up as high as it can go then replacing the oil pan from underneath.
      Of course, remove the engine mount fasteners so that they don't rip, and then find a way to lift and hold up the engine.
      Most of the people I know of have done it on the floor, so all they used was a hoist. Others have done it with a lift plus hoist. It all depends on what tools you have available.

      @@EdBwoy can i use a jack and block of wood i have no hoist

    • @EdBwoy
      @EdBwoy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can lift the engine bay jacking it with a block of wood under the oil pan. But then you need to remove that block of wood because the oil pan needs to come out.
      You need to find a way to hold the engine up. I think I read where someone jacked the entire drivetrain by using a block of wood at the transmission.

      Check all the fuses in the car and engine bay. It pays to have a dealership diagnosis, but it does sound like you cooked your BCM. forums.nicoclub.com/someone-help-i-keep-breaking-my-new-car-t595581.html#p6671075

      For the most part I'm pretty confident the VK45 is a solid engine. Mine has 109,018 miles and runs great. I check oil almost evertime I drive it.

    What's that sump thingy?!?! Is that JDM and whats the benefit of a longer one vs the one you originally had in there. Also have you tried the Brisk LGS spark plugs??? They have a multi ground strap on them. Those are the plugs I'm using when I do my VC's this weekend. And is that a JDM oil pan. If so what are the benefits...just in case I need to upgrade to a larger pan

      @@EdBwoy So I'm in limbo of keeping my fx45 vs getting 12-13fx50,2015 jeep srt8, or 2015 x5m. Reason being, I'm gearing up to buy a house. My fx is roughly at 217k and some change. Still runs really well but I know sooner than later BOOM... I know Ima need to get inside the block to some major maintenance. Plus I've gotten of used to not having a note. But I do want some more power with practicality. All being said do start to finish DVD type deal or digital recording of top to bottom teardown and back together deal. Or were can I get a shop manual like the ones our techs use just in case I decide to keep her!
