CBS has been showcasing some really incredible non-mainstream talent lately - especially Country/Blues/Americana/Blue Grass. Billy Strings, Charlie Crockett, Gary Clark Jr., to name a few. Much respect to a big network using their power and reach to give these artists the spotlight.

One late night, she and some of the other performers were down by the river nearby, and my son happened to be there. She found out that he was in the academy, grabbed a guitar, sat down by the water with him and jammed with him for an hour. She gave my son this special moment, and I'm not even certain she has any clue she did, because she is so down to earth and doesn't see herself as this famous person like everyone else does. well, it is nice that you found her and gave her the attention she deserves. More people need to listen to this fantastic singer/songwriter. Well done piece.
Her voice is great but it’s not her voice. She has that ‘panache’ that can’t be taught- she’s a communicator. Like the others- surprisingly few- where they are even more powerful in person than on a record or the radio: Nanci Griffith, Billy Joel, Allison Krause, Evanescence, Merle Haggard, David Draiman, Arthur Fiedler, Suzy Bogus, others; fabulous listening to their recorded works. In person and live, however, they have a presence that communicates- even if they weren’t great singers or not accomplished musicians they’d have that presence. Combine the two and you get Sierra Ferrel joining the ranks of those noted above, and a few others. She’s ‘believable’ no matter what she sings, and has great pitch. The voice is just one more good thing.
This new generation of female country artists is so amazing. From Sierra to Jaime Wyatt to Nikki Lane, and so many more..... They are all so original and yet familiar. All are breaths of fresh air.

I was lucky to be in the audience at the Orange Peel in AVL way back in January of 2013 (or 2014?). It was a Todd Snider concert. Todd told a story about meeting a group of kids outside an earlier venue he was about to do a show at...in either Virginia or West Virginia, I think. One of the kids was a girl carrying a guitar. He asked her if she could sing - and she played him one of her songs. Todd Snider liked it so much he asked her if she'd like to join him down in Asheville. If so, he'd let her sing that song in the middle of his set at the Orange Peel. And she did. She was great. The crowd loved her. I believe it was Sierra Ferrell's first time playing on stage for a large crowd. I'm very happy to see her doing so well all these years later.

@@echolalia682 The Sea
She is simply the most interesting artist I've heard in years, and I'm not especially a big country music fan. Her songs just speak to me. Her best song (in my humble opinion) is called "The Sea," which is a magnificent sort of a jazz-ish type of tune.
I have family in NOLA. I feel like her busking days stuck with her. There is a jazz/calypso thing she does effortlessly.
I've been watching her for years. I knew the first time I heard her she was destined for stardom. She has the talent, the charisma, the ability to be one of the biggest stars ever.
She's a gem!!! 💎 💎 💎
Gems on VHS
One of the best live performances I’ve ever experienced.
Sierra Ferrell is something special. She is on my playlist and in my likes. I've been listening to her for years. I love her voice, personality and her story. Keep it up Sierra were rooting for you!!!
Sierra is an amazing performer. I saw her at Telluride Bluegrass in 2023...she played during the day, far from the headlining acts and brought the house down with people running across the ropes and rushing the stage, dancing and loving life with her music as the background. That's what her shows do to people. This year she has her rightful spot as a headliner at night. She deserves all the delayed attention she's getting now!
imagine this talent playing during the day…times are changing. Pure talent.
@@ladesigner8764 Went to Hoxeyville last summer and i was so glad Molly Tuttle and Sierra Hull were not the headliners....they played their sets on different days, during the day, when the weather was perfect.
I was miles away listening live on the radio regretting that I wasn't there. It sounded like an absolutely rare and triumphant performance.
I saw her there too!. On In Dreams she.sounds like Dolly. Beautiful voice.
I been a fan of hers for years. I finally was able to see her live last year at Stagecoach and I’ll never forget it.
Thank you Anthony and CBS. I began listening to her here, on TH-cam, about 3 years ago and wondered why she wasn't a bigger star. I am so happy for her. So so so deserving.
I saw Sierra at a free music and art festival in Edinboro , Pa. My friend Fred Parker who runs the festival put the musicians up in cabins on a lake near the festival sit. I had the luck to be staying there…
She came outside and sang with some other musicians.. but where she began to sing by herself you could hear a pin drop.
I still get chills when I see her live…and when I met her that weekend.., I told her ‘buckle up girl you are destined to be famous!’
Never more well deserved she has paid her dues and her talent is mind blowing and unique !!!! So happy for you Sierra!!!!!🥰💜
She has amazing vocal talents. Who else sings like her? Old school talent.
Melissa Carper. They've done a few songs together that have been uploaded to YT...
Judy Garland, another great singer whose fans truly loved her.
Bella White
Sierra is amazing.. been spreading the word in Scotland.. she's really something special.. watch her live performances on TH-cam it's all brilliant ❤❤❤
Here she comes!!. I know that traveling road and what it takes to make it out … so proud of you Sierra Ferrell
How could anyone not love Sierra? She is a truly gifted young lady. So unique and she just draws you in and then you are hooked 😊❤
thanks CBS for featuring these TALENTED amazing young musicians showing us the way out of the culture they are born into. The opioid crisis, anxiety, depression and bad situations. Don't let anyone tell you how selfish young people ar.e look what they have been handed! GO kiddos! WE LOVE YOU!
What a beautiful job you did with this story... Saw her last night... Oh my God she's the real deal... laughter, tears and triumph ❤
yes! The Fonda! I was gobsmacked. Can’t wait to see her again.
@@ladesigner8764 a dream come true
Great interview. She’s definitely an amazing artist and seems like a genuine human being
I heard Sierra's voice years ago from another room at an American Legion in Nashville and I immediately stopped what I was doing and made my way to the listening room. Absolutely mesmerizing. It's awesome to see how far she has come. She's really putting out some great music and I look forward to every album and single she drops.
Great piece. Her rise has been stunning, from a sellout last year at the Fillmore in San Francisco, to this month selling out The (much larger) Warfield Theater in San Francisco.
Sold out two nights in L.A. and Chicago….and selling out single nights in most cities.
A few years ago she played at Hardly Strictly and there was hardly anyone in the crowd to watch her, can't imagine the same thing happening today
Can't believe we almost lost her 😢 I love her so much ❤
Been a fan of sierra for YEARS, I remember the busking days, she’s the coolest and deserves all of the glory!
After all these years she’s really making it the era of Sierra!!
I have been following Sierra since about 2018. Absolutely love her voice! Effortless power and beauty. And I love her little lisp too.
I’ve been a big fan of Sierra since I stumbled across her music about 4 years ago. She just keeps getting better. So happy to see the rest of the world finally getting to know her music!
Ive been crushing on this woman for a while. Her music is amazing! I have to see her and her band live.
I’m a Ferrett for life. Love her sound, her authenticity and dang she can write a song!
She is so real, the light she radiates is beautiful and undeniable. Pearl remain in oyster & the oil will protect you
I live in New Orleans and I remember hearing her on the streets! I always stopped and just listened to her. I will forever and always be a fan. She made my mornings in the quarter memorable ♥️
well, it is nice that you found her and gave her the attention she deserves. More people need to listen to this fantastic singer/songwriter. Well done piece.
I just love her voice. You can feel the words.
One of my new favorite musicians of all time. She is singular. ❤
Day at a time sister,
One day at a time.....
....keep it simple! 🎻🎶
Love your voice, sing on.
wise words
This new generation of female country artists is so amazing. From Sierra to Jaime Wyatt to Nikki Lane, and so many more..... They are all so original and yet familiar. All are breaths of fresh air.
What a Treasure!… She is one of many proving that “Real Country Music” is still alive, well and thriving!
An American treasure. Thank you Rounder Records. She deserves all the great things coming to her.
This was an incredible interview. What a talent.
Loved this interview. Sierra is amazing.
Genuine talent. Gives me goose bumps hearing her sing. She might save country music by just being real.
She deserves all the recognition. An amazing artist.
I saw her at Railbird, saw her at The Ryman, and I'll be seeing her at Bourbon & Beyond. She. Is. AMAZING!!!!
Why do I just love this interviewer so much? He’s the best.
Met her when she was learning guitar in a tent with Colten Ort.She was a kid with a timeless voice. That voice left me stunned. Wow she can play now.
Best concert I’ve been to in the last five years hands-down. Hootin’ and Hollerin’ from the front row with the other crazies
This kid deserves it, she has worked her tail off to get to this point. Im so proud of her ❤
Absolutely love her and her music!!
Wow darling , thanks for sharing , and being real with us, sounds to me like you met God, and he said it wasn’t your time hun, I had a very similar near death experience, I hope your doing much better today
Might think she's crazy, but everything she said, felt so at home. Sierra is love.
I found her by pure chance in spring 21 (Elk River Blues) and within seconds i just couldn't believe how amazing she could be and still be hidden away. I saw her twice in England in summer 22 and really need her to return. She's got the most beautiful voice i've ever heard, not the strongest or most unique but there's pure magic in it.
One clip they showed of her busking on the street was from Asheville, NC - but they had a dot on the map and the voice over saying "Chicago". Asheville is/was a noted stop for buskers and train hoppers. Abby the Spoon Lady also started here.
Also the first clip was from Colorado and they didn't even include it on the map!
Yeah. Great blues and bluegrass music scene;
The hall.
Can make a little money as a busker;
Just be careful...
South Slope or the Block.
@@DustyLeeSledge Ive been busking here on and off for 10 years. It helped foster artists like her and you can make some quick cash when you need it as a musician. They don't hassle you. There was debate amongst the city council/etc. but its legal with some restrictions.
Saw her last night at delfest. She sounded absolutely perfect, I was blown away.
Yea, she'll change ya. Like she fell right out of an old painting. It's really hard to explain to those that haven't seen her the experience and feeling of what she puts out on that stage.
I'm seeing her in a week! I'm so excited to see her perform live!
Tip bring hankies. Most moving voice ..,
Her soul is one in a trillion.
I saw her at the Green River Festival in Western Massachusetts in the Fall of 2021… she was so unique and her voice and musical style intriguing… so happy to see her finally getting this kind of notoriety!!
She had me at the Garden, what a beautiful and witty song!
Shes #1 hands down. Seen her perform twice and my goodness shes wonderful. I tell my friends she the daughter of Dolly.
She makes you feel like you’re the only one in the room. She’s is SO SPECIAL. truly the dolly Parton of her day.
Sierra is amazing! First time I heard her, before Long Time Coming, I just knew I was listening to a future star. I began telling everyone about her. When I finally got to see her perform at Freshgrass in North Adams, MA all my feellings about her were confirmed; She was the best act of the weekend, by a long shot, and the next year she was one of the headliners there. One of the most creative and talented singers on the planet. If you have not seen Sierra live, do yourself a favor; you will not be disappointed. Amazing!!
Just saw her at Delfest, what a awesome time, my 10 year old granddaughter was up front just jamming!
Pop divas are most envious of the realness 🤘 Go Sierra!!❤
Adore this woman, special talent.
Its about time we have an artist who is her own person and a real artist. She is a true talent. Its like she was dropped from the heavens into the lap of a world that needed something real.
We have a lot of artists who are their own person and real artists
Anthony thanks for doing those interview Sierra is a true American original!glad she lived and great as for therapy!
One of one right there. Love her.
She’s so beautiful. That talent is amazing.
Love her heart 💜 so happy to see her living her best life!! Been rooting for her since her Empty Glass Days 🤍 she is a beautiful soul and her voice is a divine gift, no doubt 💜
what a beautiful soul… I saw her live, she was absolutely unbelievable
Best country mezzo-soprano in the modern era
It's a pleasure to see art showcased in mainstream media. Hope. Perhaps there's hope for culture to be embraced. Always room for pop and so forth, but this is heart and soul. What life is actually about
Sierra is amazing. A solid talent. Her voice is like a warm coat on a cold night. All comfort. ❤
What a sweetheart she is.
What a special talent, a hard worked-out skill and experience, and a brilliant artist.
Sierras the best! So happy she’s continuing to get the recognition she greatly deserves. A true gem!
Saw her in Indianapolis on 1/15/24. One of the best shows i've seen in a long time. She deserves this!
