It’s been a whirlwind year for Sierra Ferrell. Last September, Ferrell won the Emerging Artist award at the Americana Honors & Awards, and just last week, she was nominated in three categories for the 2024 Americana Honors & Awards. Ferrell released her latest album, Trail of Flowers, on March 22, and made her Grand Ole Opry debut before embarking on tour in support of the album.
Despite all the attention, Ferrell stays grounded on her mission to be “a beacon of light” for people through her music. During a tour stop in the Twin Cities to play a show at First Avenue in Minneapolis, Ferrell and her band visited The Current for a studio session hosted by Jessica Paxton. Watch and listen to the full interview above.

Such a wonderful voice, she can make an audience go wild with a phrase, a trick, a break in her voice. Hank Williams incarnate

old man of 67 years here...I have not found anything worth listening to on the radio or TV, I find myself digging for new music a bit everyday on you tube.. the moment I found you I was totally blown away, your honesty comes through your songs, your stories of loss are felt in your songs, youre just a cool spirit that I think everyone should get to know.. I agree with you with the way the world is turning, I'm a conservative, I wish we had two better presidential candidates than what we have now..but it is what it is.. oh well just keep doing you and the rest of us will be waiting for your news music to listen to!!

Yes, a real dearth of good music nowadays. I recommend Sarah Shook's album called Years. And songs Nail and Home Fires from her album Sidelong.

her voice is so special...but I am always just as impressed at how much the camera LOVES her...and how comfortable she is in front of it. She can look right down the lens and connect...not many people can do that. i was really impressed with her "ad read" too. Sierra, your soul shines through in everything you do. Thanks. stay strong

She's just a ray of sunshine, I saw her perform last year when she had lost her voice but her singing still sounded so good even though she could barely talk between songs. She had to take a break and her band took over and played some amazing instrumentals for a while, the AC was broken at the venue and I was sweating like crazy but despite all of this it was still probably the best concert I've been to!

All I can say is YES Sierra Ferrell I understand all you talk about and agree 💝 you are humble and your music brings me happiness like I had listening to country music growing up in the 80’s. I’m 49 now and enjoy your music so much even my husband and children love it too. I can relate to how you think and sing. God bless you. Save time in your busy life to garden. That’s my favorite place too. Thank you Jessica for such a wonderful interview! Blessings! 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷

Wow! Haha. I've never seen Sierra dress so casually. She's usually wearing something really freaky-cool and wild. I guess even cultural icons need to take a break sometimes. 🤣 Now matter what she's wearing though, she's always a super-sweet, positive cutie-pie.

Sierra is a once in a generation artist! So new, so fresh, real and yet so familiar too. Sometimes I think, all the glitz, glamor and so down to earth, Dolly Parton 2.0. She's going to be around for a long, long time.

Love her music and overall fashion style as mentioned in the interview...But that gold/silver? tooth crown makes her look like she's missing a tooth or tooth decay. Very distracting from her beautiful face.
To Sierra: you have a beautiful smile, please reconsider the unneeded tooth "BLING".

I saw Sierra live last year and she was amazing! Love her music and her voice is so comforting. BUT… this interview is honestly tiresome. Can we please stop with the trauma and victim hood heroics. We all have challenges in life, and some are greater than others. I too was homeless, abused, and addicted and you know what, I pulled my boots straps up and got through it. I still go catatonic from memory almost daily but this doesn’t make me a hero. That experience makes you creative in way that is special to you. Sometimes it’s better to sit and be, and not proselytize. I tend to enjoy art that doesn’t tell me how to think, but how to think for myself. We all have special talents, and it’s grossly unfortunate there are some that don’t express human empathy but really at the end of the day we all individually flush toilets.

I come to TH-cam for amateur psychological analysis; thanks so much for providing! If you don't want to hear what people have to say, click on another video. The cool thing about people is everyone gets to live their own life and process the tribulations the way they see fit. She was asked the questions and she answered them, eloquently and thoughtfully. Enjoy your day.

or maybe, just MAYBE, this is what art is all about. It's an outlet to process trauma, to overcome it. Maybe talking and singing about it helps give it less power. Maybe someone hearing her songs or her story for the first time resonates with it and it helps them through their trauma. Just a different perspective.
