Shrine of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá: Trellis structure fully revealed

- The formwork that shaped the trellis of the Shrine of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá has been removed, revealing the completed body of that structure. The emerging Shrine stands as a symbol of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá’s unremitting service to the unification of humanity.
The concrete for the trellis, poured at the end of August over an intense 19 hour period, needed time to “cure” before the formwork and scaffolding could be removed. With each piece of formwork that was peeled back, a rising sense of anticipation enveloped the site, culminating in a striking display of dedicated labor and meticulous planning.
With the central plaza and edifice now fully cleared, the team has moved on to repairing any variations that naturally occurred in the surface of the concrete as the formwork was removed.

Will the shrine be used to worship Abdu'l-Baha?
No, we don't worship Abdu'l-Baha. That would be a clear violation of Baha'i teaching.

He’s already buried in arguably one of the world’s most spectacular buildings. To spend $75 million on another burial site is a shameful waste of resources. Are the Baha’is copying the Scientology handbook? Let’s impress the world with our fancy buildings and structures rather than copying the Sikhs and performing acts of service that benefit mankind. This is so disappointing. A wasted opportunity to build something like a soup kitchen or refugee centre which would’ve, in my opinion, been a better way to honour Abd’ul-Baha.
Whenever one visit this place in the future maybe It will move the soul, and hundreds of thousands of other visitors, to a comittment of service to human kind. And hopefully It will move millions of visitors in the decades and centuries to come😊
In time, we will have all those things AND this beautiful shrine. I'm glad God and His Manifestation instructed the Universal House of Justice to build it.
I became a Baha’i while in the Air Force. I am not one today, although still receive the Baha’i News. I was shocked to discover that they do not seem to use their contributions to help the poor, the sick, the homeless. They want me to leave my money to them in a will. Over my dead body !
If you don't want to continue to be contacted or receive periodicals from the Faith, why not simply officially withdraw? It's not hard to do, and you'll never be "bothered" again.

I want to know why the leaders of the faith do not extend their mission to helping the poor, the needy and the persecuted of the world instead of building unneeded infrastructure that cost many many millions of the faithful s contributions

As far as why they're spending millions of dollars on a massive shrine rather than helping others, I think that's an excellent question. I tend to think Abdu'l-Baha might wonder the same thing.
@@c.a.t.732 OTOH the Shrine will serve as a place of Pilgrimage and inspiration for countless billions for many centuries. It will stand as a testament to 'Abdu'l-Baha, and encourage us to follow His example in caring for the poor. As well, in the present, the construction project provides thousands of jobs.
