Retrospective on the Year 2024: Reflecting on this past year brings to mind the multitude of complex concerns that have brought many people to their knees in fear of the fate of the world at this time. Without wishing to minimize the gravity of the situations confronting us, we are also reminded of Newton’s Laws of Motion: they relate an object's motion to the forces acting on it. In the first law, an object will not change its motion unless a force acts on it. In the second law, the force on an object is equal to its mass times its acceleration. In simple terms, “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.” We have now but to turn to whatever higher guidance we embrace to find a strengthening sense of solace and support. We have been through storms before; we have come through them weathered, as wisened souls who have acquired the skills needed to navigate whatever turbulent waters we may encounter. We are assured we can and will do it again and again, whatever it takes to carry forward our vision of an ever-advancing civilization. One resource we have at our disposal comes in the form of a lengthy letter addressed to the American Baha’i Community on December 25, 1938 by the Guardian of our Faith, Shoghi Effendi, the great-grandson of its Founder, Bahá’u’lláh. Referring to some of the perils people were facing at that time, it said, in part: “Such simultaneous processes of rise and of fall, of integration and of disintegration, of order and chaos, with their continuous and reciprocal reactions on each other, are but aspects of a greater Plan, one and indivisible, whose Source is God, whose author is Bahá’u’lláh, the theater of whose operations is the entire planet, and whose ultimate objectives are the unity of the human race and the peace of all mankind.” (www.bahai.org/library/authoritative-texts/shoghi-effendi/advent-divine-justice/5#141260130) Today’s review from the Baha’i World News Service provides a lens through which we can see light at the end of tunnel, albeit a long one. To fill the heart with hope while fortifying it with courage is a worthy goal as we head into 2025.

Thank you very much for this beautiful video. The introduction beautifully illustrates how watching random images and videos online can significantly influence our perceptions, regrettably often in adverse ways. Liked very much the uplifting highlights on Temples bringing people together at various events. Also, showing the application of the principles of unity and equality in India and Chile was very inspiring. I would like to invite a conversation in the comments section on three topics: Gardening for all age groups as constructive and a social activity is a misconception. In the process of making a garden, animals' environment in the soil are completely distrupted or destroyed and many of them are killed. And the killing and destruption continues while trying to care for the garden. Children and Jr. youth are unaware of this. The role of providing food is for the farmers; they use many techniques, including repellents, to minimize harm to all creatures, and their soils are free from many insects present in our urban and rural communities. Regarding the word "consultation," the public has come to associate it with business-like conversations. To connect with the public, "dialogue" can be used, as our current Baha'i presence is unable to change established meaning of words in wider society. An "outward-looking orientation," provided in the Baha'i guidance points to all aspects of Baha'i-related interactions (e.g., community events, online presence) and asks for consideration to the needs of the general public, for ensuring as best as possible an accurate representation of Baha'i ideals. In contrast with an inward-looking orientation where planning and delivery of initiatives and activities primarily focus on (regretabbly using the word cater) to a Baha'i population or audience. Sometimes language separates us by presenting us as knowledgeable compared to, in contrast to a "humble posture of learning." In the video, it says, "As societies grapple with religious extremism and scientific skepticism, the Baha'is . . ." The Baha'i Institutions are able to employ such language in their written guidance addressed to Baha'is, yet this language is absent when the general public is part of the audience. Thank you very much for reading.

🌹The dedicated efforts undertaken for the preservation and enhancement of this sacred site are unparalleled. The work, which blends traditional craftsmanship with modern technology, is truly commendable. It not only honors the spiritual significance of the Shrine of the Báb but also preserves its legacy for future generations. My elderly family member has experienced a decline in physical function over the past year and has become increasingly less mobile. Every time we go out, we have to rely on a wheelchair. It is only when pushing a wheelchair that one truly realizes the importance of municipal facilities' consideration for the disabled. Thank you for thinking about the care of the elderly and those with limited mobility. I hope the war will end soon so that we can make a pilgrimage to the holy site.
