24:32 I think your interpretation of their innermost thoughts can still work with Geno’s thought peek. I think it relates Geno learning more about the concept of wishes vs. agency/free will.
In essence, Geno sees over the course of the game that wishes come true due to the effort and collaboration of many people, including both Mario’s party and others in the world. This basically means that while Geno still needs to complete his mission of driving out Exor and repairing the Star Road (and thus obtain the Star Pieces as part of that quest), he now has a changed perspective for how wishes are even granted in the first place. Perhaps not to say that it’s a loss of faith in his “higher power”, but rather that he recognizes now that, more important than the Star Pieces, is the effort and works of the people who strive to make the wishes come true. This goes along with how those ending cutscenes you mentioned change if you complete the post game wishes, because you, the player, had to work extra to make those wishes come true. To sum it up with a Biblical phrase, Geno comes to understand that “faith without works is dead”, or in other words, “wishes without effort don’t mean anything.” It doesn’t mean that faith/wishes don’t still serve a purpose, but rather, the strength of one’s wish/faith is shown BY the effort they take to make it reality.
Even though it’s a very easily missed thought peek in a optional rematch in a post game sequence, I do think it fleshes Geno out a bit and shows that his adventures with Mario have actually changed him as a person
😳 When the real wishes are the friends and adventures we had along the way! 😱
Really neat theory you got there! It's a bit sad that we never got to see Geno's point of view about the adventure outside some rare instances
I love this theory! It really lines up with the player granting some wishes in the end like you said, maybe that's what the devs of the remake were going for
@@PJiggles I’m glad you liked it! I’ll be honest I didn’t do all the post game or see the thought peek from my own playthrough, but I just kinda thought “I think it could still work” and wrote it down. Glad we’re on the same wavelength haha
15:36
he promised to show her his cool train collection
(it’s really cool)
Hopefully he's more gentle running his train on her than when on Mario. XD
I think he said “I smell my own farts” and she was all like (wow they must be amazing then) so boom
Infinite rizz
Another fun fact: Before the remake, there was some confusion among fans as to how Belome's name was pronounced. The new Monster List tries to clear it up with the phonetic spelling: "Bel-õm." The only problem is, the O with the tilde over it, " õ " has no universal pronunciation, and sounds totally different depending on the language that uses it. The list entry INSISTS that you pronounce his name correctly, which makes it seem like it was an intentional troll!
"my mission f*cking sucks"
-geno, probably
yes
geno when the real power of the Star Pieces is their inspirational value as symbols of the dedication and hard work the people put into making their own wishes come true and he still has to collect them by 6 pm to get paid this week
5:31 It's supposed to sound like "I ran away"
18:35 I always love it when games acknowledge really popular glitches, whether it be by patching them but still referencing the glitch or Not patching them but finding a creative way to make it non-viable
(Sorta wished something similar happened with Exor but eh, it’s better than nothing)
I was certainly more amused that they didn't change anything
"Aran away" sounds like "I ran away". Come on my dude.
24:12 if you check the monster journal, it’s mentioned that they are the almost complete Opposite of what they normally are. It’s mentioned that this geno, for example doesnt actually care about the people around him, this is also the reason this version of geno refuses to use geno boost.
Though incase it was intended as The actual genos thoughts, i think the implication is that over the course of the journey, he stopped caring about the star pieces and wished to stay with Mario & co for longer, considering how hesitant he seems in the final area, I think this was the intention
Wow I for some reason never really checked their descriptions, gonna go back and do that now lol, that Culex one is hilarious I wish I mentioned it
@@PJigglesYeah!! Culex's entries are Great. I highly suggest reading all the entries, the descriptions are hilarious
Bowser's clone seems to be pretty close to him.
@@anjoliebarrios8906its mentioned that bowsers clone is a Little more regal, the main difference is his clone rolling his r‘s
One of the reasons I think they make the firework amounts for each type those numbers is for an SMB3 reference; since getting all of a specific end card type or matching the spade game with a Mushroom gives you a 2-up, Flower a 3-up and Star a 5-up, they made those numbers the thresholds for the fireworks changing.
Neat!
15:28 he says “Omelette du fromage”
_Oh Dexter~!_
Clever!
The Exor boss flag thing is such a neat detail/reference to the original game.
You can encounter Gassox in the desert area as well. I had no idea he was rare
Isn't there another just after Midas River?
The only smash amiibo your missing is the golden mega man amiibo
Amazon had it on there with MM legacy collection
😊😊
I do have it, but I see it more as its own series amiibo rather than a Smash one, so I didn't put it in that picture lol
@PJiggles it has a smash base plate so it's an official smash bros amiibo
2:43 that's not a stretch, that's exactly what it is. In the original game, Bowser would also throw a Mario doll instead of Mario himself sometimes (I never noticed if it was when Mario had a status effect, but it happened pretty often)
he throws the Mario doll whenever Mario has any status effect or is KO'd.
The Samus pun is Mallow saying "I ran away", consider the Aran pronunciation like in japanese as "ah-ran" with a weak R
Aw sweet, more useless facts! I’m sure this information won’t push anything important out-
EDIT: The Samus pun is specifically a play on “I ran away”.
I legit watched part 1 last night, and was like oh he still hasn’t posted part 2. And here it is, IM THE MAIN CHARACTER!
Same
This is my favorite game ever and I've already played through it on Switch half a dozen times. One of my favorite things that they added to this remake that wasn't mentioned here are the little blurbs they added in the journal for every enemy. These are absolutely hilarious and got me to open the journal every time I found a new enemy just to see what they say. Culex's saying he came from the world of "Last Illusion" is the most perfect shout out to Final Fantasy they could've made and Exor's saying his name is based on the sword "Excalibur" but because there are no swords in Mario's world it's impossible for him to get the reference was hilarious. But the best one by far was the giant clock boss calling me out, saying "if you're reading this at 1 o'clock in the morning then it's time to stop playing this game". I was dying laughing after that one.
Fun fact: I fought Formless on my first playthrough in land’s end, and i didn’t know he was rare, guess i was lucky.
Booster must've boosted his rizz.
Good joke
Good joke BTW
17:00 “Friendly fire will not be tolerated”
Did you mean 17:49?
Omg that thought of mallow in his thought peek after Belom eat him is so sad
Booster whispers "Sweet nothings," in Valentina's ear.
8:51 Fun fact: In the original, the word "recovers" was missing the V, so it _actually_ read "Recoers"
2:43 This happened in the original as well, I think only if Mario was fainted though, but Bowser did replace him with a mini-doll.
I think booster either compared her to peach, or just gave her a genuine compliment, which I doubt she gets often given her personality
i feel like samus' entry would be better if "there was somone resting up in the castle, i asked her about her arm cannon and vampires but she just up and ran away"
mallow keeps the dumb pun and adds in some more
best secret in TTYD: Hou la la great bird! (using Blah on a Klepto)
One thing thats not so much a fact as just a reference (and even then possibly unintentional) is seemingly Smithy is based on the Nome King from the Land of Oz book series. Both are described as looking like a "demented Santa Claus", are kings of foreign places coming to conquer a matriarchal society, and are heavily associated with metal.
Really the comparison made between both of em is the main thing
Fun fact about Culex is that once you beat him, the victory theme is taken from the Final Fantasy series
I mean, Culex is already very strong because as you said, he is already a Superboos
Specifically the FF4 version, right?
Booster whispers to Valentina 15:36 “gonna pound that mound”
2:40, if Mario was downed (or maybe had any ailment) Bowser would also throw the tiny Mario which I also assumed was a doll
When I was trying to thought peak during the belome refight, belome refused to eat peach. I sat there for an hour until I gave up
24:54 ah yes bowsers most secret thought is rolling the r’s
Y'know what, does that cutscene with Valentina and Booster interacting for the first time in the original game?
Yes
Great video, always love more SMRPG content! As for the Fireworks situation, I swear in the original you could just sell the Fireworks to any Shop keeper since, I believe, it goes into your normal inventory and not Key Items.
Facts I need to hear more
Yeah the small Mario was indeed a reference to the original, not only was he replaced by the small doll in the original while Bowser was throwing him, but in the original he also used this doll to attack if Mario was ded or had an illness.
The star egg stars actually have the same animations for attacking in Superstar Saga (GBA), which I NEVER knew about. Trivia within trivia!
in the original game, if mario was ko'd, the hurly gloves would still throw the doll.
@PJiggles the steller 023 weapon for Geno I think is a reference to the Booster's rematch where he uses his 023 engine
20:12 20:18 That Credits was insane Genius for Remake, having it a SNES Parade at the start, only for Night to become the Nintendo Switch, which followed by a I’m not Crying x10 26:44 *Tears* Moment. And you can change the 7th Firework.
6:32 “I have a Secret, I use the bathroom every hour”
6:52 He should’ve said Sphagetti.
6:54 Bitter Wood
14:41 The Gold Statue did the Flop
18:41 Most Likely because it’s an Anything goes Boss. I used Geno Beam.
25:46 Culex could’ve appeared in other parts of the ending/credits, like maybe in the picture thank you in secret, behind the star float in the credits, in the End Screen?
Luigi is only a -
26:46 I found this secret, but because i didn't know what button to press to go back to the title screen.
I got the Toad dream cutscene first try so I actually thought it was guaranteed lol
I do feel like that the thoughts of Belome’s clones are fragments of the characters thoughts pieced together rather than their actual thoughts, and my main reasoning for this is Bowser and Peach.
Peach does have an established character, and one of those traits is that she’s a very kind, humble person. Now that doesn’t mean she doesn’t value her beauty, but she wouldn’t boast about it either. I feel that when Belome created her clone, he saw into her mind that she valued her beauty and just assumed this meant she boast about it. Now, I could be wrong with this as this is a different interpretation of Peach, but it doesn’t explain Bowser who rolls his r’s despite never doing so, Belome probably just saw into Bowser’s head he misses his keep so that’s what he based Bowser’s clone around.
Now, this doesn’t mean that Geno doesn’t hate that star pieces, but it’s probably something Belome took out of context in Geno’s head. Maybe he just hates the fact that he has to collect the Star Pieces in general, or that he hates how the Star Road was broken into the Star Pieces. Just giving my thoughts on the clone’s thoughts
14:42 2nd one: That looks more like he’s yawning or crying
After beating Valentina, one of the cloud villagers tells you why is Valentina heading to the tower, so this is a way the game points towards this easter egg
2:37 Interesting that you called this is a stretch when I feel like it's clearly the truth lmao
6:35 Not actually, since after defeating Smithy, you can go to the same area you can get Thought Peek entries filled in, and then you'll be able to spend Frog Coins to fill in entries that you might not have gotten (i.e. not seen) that you can't get anymore (e.g. Speardovich's clone, the party clones that Belome uses), including Formless and Gassox.
But at 3 frog coins a pop its better to NOT have to do this especially since I'd rather spend like 40+ Frog coins on more useful items though the frog coin accessory shop it best item cost IIRC like 50 of them for the cut FP cost by half effect if you don't own it now.
so excited to watch this
10:00 also, the sound pitch is just SLIGHTLY different
3 locations for gassox.
When I tell you that I RAN to my Netflix app-
Is Netflix starting to get good again?
24:31 Geno doen't want to repair star road but it's his life's purpose and he doesn't want to do it
16:26 big happy family lol
Jiggle physics have actually been potentially added to the ESRB rating list of things because of another game
I had no idea Netflix Games was a thing.
We couldn't have asked for a better remake. I doubt there's another remake out there that's as faithful as this one. And thanks for showing all these secrets, there's a bunch I had never heard of! Do you plan to do a similar video when the TTYD remake drops? 👀 That game also has its fair share of secrets and obscure details, though not to the extent of Mario RPG.
18:21 I was actually able to pull this off in the remake second try. Don’t ask me how.😅
Part 2 baby!
The Gassox thing is funny cuz I'm pretty sure I got him first try at Land's End
You forgot to mention that the room that has the statues of each party member post-Valentina is the same room that had the egg containing Birdo.
Huh the toad monster dream isn’t guaranteed I always get that one
geno smrpg my beloved
Booster whispered to valentina that he has the keys to her OF
“omelette du fromage~”
World champ.
Another, super Mario RPG video
let’s a go
Love this game
I expected a video from you in 2 days, not today
Pleasant surprise though. Love your videos every time you post.
The king has returned
This is why I subbed
Booster got that W-Rizz
There really are many secrets in this game.
I actually encourage Gassox at lands end the first time i went there so i guess im lucky
I really liked the first part of this video. Glad you took the time to make this. Also the artist for your thumbnails made such an adoreable Mallow with a shocked expression!
Clearly Booster said "Its Boostering Time".
good vid
Booster asked her “do you want to see my Yugio deck?”
My theory of why Valentina marries Booster is pretty simple
Money
I got the one where the character is jumping on the bed my first time using that in I was so confused
5:27 I like to think that awful pun was actually a typo or miswrite by Mallow.
15:36 I'm loaded!
You used to be able to sell Fireworks for 250 making the process much simpler and cheaper. Also, they took out selling Flower Tabs, Jars, and Boxes for 100, 300, and 500. Honestly one of the only and extremely minor blemishes on the remake
6:06 not true, I actually fought this secret mini boss in the desert area
THE GOAT IS BACK!!!!
Finely
I still haven’t gotten past the monster town area because I’m determined to get the 100 jumps for the armor for Mario. Still can’t do it… tips would be nice. Other than plug in controller…
the man got sponsored by NETFLIX ITSELF
My wish?
I wish for Super Paper Mario, which is my favourite Mario RPG, to get a remake in the future, as it's the most enjoyable game in that particular series - bar none.
No slow and tedious Peach segments, no awkward and hard-to-time action commands, a much more interesting and compelling set of worlds, a much better story with well-written villains, and overall much more fun gameplay
I ran away Aran away
Booster probably told Valentina that he's rich
15:27 "I'm rich"
Star wiggle 9:26
My theory is that booster said the Adress of her parents.
I think Culex 3D is really hot.
Hades is the best video game ever. Change my mind.
The instant kill geno whirl glitch on Exor was proven to be an intentional feature. It isn't a glitch.
Super mario-O rpg!
Well i never even got the starman
The only thing I can't forgive the remake for doing is SOME of the name changes/retranslations
I get that some of them are due to localization standards and some are for copyright tightening it's hold on media, so as much as I like to, I won't hold it against the removal of Bruce Lee and Mack, nor the change for the natural Russian-sounding "Yaridovich" to the accurate "Speardovich"
Those are (regrettably) fine for me
What is NOT fine for me is changing the iconic "Corona" for the (thanks to Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts) generic "Flare", no matter how impressive the animation of the small sun that appears, is... (And don't tell me it's a translation thing because it's Korona in the original one, in japanese)
That's for me the only smidgen of blemish within perfection. But oh well, I'm sure it's an unpopular opinion, I just wanted to say it for once...
