  • Welcome to Northern Wisconsin Outdoor Adventures! In this episode we will be showing you how to properly prepare and cook a trout over a campfire. Earlier in the day my friends and I were fishing in the Pike River and caught a few trout that we used as appetizers to our venison steak meal that night. They were not very big, but they were above the legal size limit. During our evening fishing session we had a little bit better luck and reeled in the fifteen and a half inch brown trout that you see in this video. The process of preparing a trout for cooking is quite simple actually. All you will need is a campfire, your choice of seasonings, butter, and tin foil. The first step is to season the inside of the meat. You don't eat this particular side of the meat, so don't be afraid to put a lot of seasoning on it. In this video we used salt, garlic powder, and black pepper, but feel free to use which ever spices you would like. Next you fill the fish with butter. Finally you wrap the trout in tin foil and make s

That is simply a type of grill that hangs from chains over a fire, and because it is suspended rather than stationary, it tends to rotate over the fire. Thanks for the comment!

Eliminate all but a couple pats of that butter, replace that butter with a few tables spoons of lemon juice... The lemon juice will steam that fish perfectly. The entire skeletal structure of that fish pulls away completely in tact.... Leaving you with nothing but trout and the skin it came in. The skin too just pull away from the fish. It's delectable. My favorite is to do this at breakfast time when camping. Fish, pancakes, bacon and eggs... Unbeatable. This is crazy right now for me to be commenting on this as I am in the middle of fasting for a week!!! I'm watching cooking videos and commenting on them. Punishing myself for some reason!!!! I'd love just even a single bite of that fish right now!!! Maybe this is what I'll break my fast with!!!

So after too much pepper, enough garlic to keep vampires away from him for life, several tonnes of salt and enough butter to clog a whole state's arteries the video ends before he eats it? 🤔 Hmmm, here's me thinking it tasted absolutely horrid ha

See, I take 15 inches of butter, stick a trout in it, then put it on the fire.
