    Great trout videos. Do you prepare filets this way skin-on also, or do you have a different go-to cooking method for skin-on?

    • @RedCastleOutdoors
      @RedCastleOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Edwin, I always cook trout with the skin on. I like the taste of the skin when cooked using this method. The skin also helps the meat stay together while cooking, otherwise the fillet will fall apart. I bake salmon and use a different recipe. I cook with the skin on and then just take the meat off. Warm water fish like bass, crappie or perch I cut the meat and skin off and deep fry them.

    Do you take to skin off to cook it this way or can I leave it on and still bread it and everything?

    • @RedCastleOutdoors
      @RedCastleOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can cook it either way. I like to keep the skin on so that the meat stays together while it cooks. I eat the skin and my wife and kids take it off after it has cooked.

      I don't think we removed the pin bones on these. Small pan sized trout usually don't need the pin bones removed. The heat will melt them.

    • @isaacbarker1021
      @isaacbarker1021 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, unfortunately our camera operator was also the one in front of the camera and most of this content is from when we first started out years ago. I have thought about re-filming the videos now that we use cinema cameras and find someone else to be in front of the camera. When it comes down to it the majority of people on TH-cam don’t care.

    • @RedCastleOutdoors

      If the trout is smaller then about 12 inches long the pin bones usually melt away when pan frying. Larger then that and I cut them out. I have a video showing that process too.

      @extorter ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RedCastleOutdoors yea I watched the other videos that's why I was confused. I always hesitate keeping trout to eat because the pin bones always made it a hassle to eat. I'll give it a shot next weekend with cutting those bones out (if I catch any lol).

    Try using Yellow Mustard instead of the egg/milk combo. It makes great glue for the breading and after it’s cook there’s no sign of mustard flavor.
