  • Bonus video this week! I have been changing various camera settings as well as audio setups so what better way to test than to rip on the CX500 Scrambler build! This video is nothing fancy but may give other creators a couple ideas as to what I am doing. Share your thoughts!
    This bike is a Honda CX500 Scrambler I am finishing up. It has been a very cool build with a focus of going offroad for long distance. Check out the full build playlist here: • CX500 Scrambler Build!
    Main camera: GoPro Hero 5 Black
    2.7k, gopro color, stabilization on.
    Audio between helmet mic and a basic foam wind sock
    Bar camera: Akaso EK7000 4k
    2.7k 30fps - decent but I have limited use of this so far
    Audio - don't even try its never been useable.
    Drone is a DJI Mavic Mini
    2.7k and I forget what frame rate. I love this thing!

    That came out great! What a fun build! Back when I was a youngster, my wife and I used to take my CX 500 Custom camping. Same burgundy paint on the tank, same luggage rack, bigger windshield. We took that bike (stock) on logging roads all over the Mogollon Rim in AZ. We looked like the Clampetts with our camping gear lashed on. Thanks for that rush of great memories! And, yeah, it sounds terrific!

      the amazing thing about them is that you can put 80k miles on the engine, with nothing but normal maintenance, and 10, 000 rpm on a 500/650 twin is a bit unusual...

    Camera POV higher is better for sure. Not sure if it's feasible, but a line running the mic to around the muffler (like a lapel mic), with the gain turned way down, would probably give the sweetest sound.
    I spotted your question on Revzilla, made me smile to see your name there :)

    Condenser mics have always had their limitations with this sport, as the real life patterns they utilize don't have the bi-aural elements that our hearing has. Might try the camera lens in a less vibrational location to eliminate all the signal flutter your getting, but there is always going to be trouble since you'd have to gimbal the vertices to dampen all the shake your engine and suspension is gonna generate. Only a free-float mechanism like on movie camera's could hope to deal with those forces. Forward, through the triple tree, at tank height seems to have least amount of ills. Shiney sides up, and beware the furrows in those fields. They always dumped me on my back end in the past.

    • @BrickHouseBuilds
      @BrickHouseBuilds  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was surprised how well the gopro did on the rack as far as video. Audio sucked for sure. I have a dedicated audio recorder that I have tried to mount in various spots but haven't been successful yet. Still trying. Definitely appreciate the input

    • @murraykriner9425
      @murraykriner9425 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BrickHouseBuilds the audio may get nearer recognition if you create a stereo recording by splitting the inputs, being closer to how we hear in real time. Know it seems crazy, but your trying to recreate a bi-aural sensation with a minor input. It's like riding a twin cylinder bike with only one jug even contributing to the whole experience.

    I have several Honda VT500c motorcycles (mid-'70s). They ride a lot like dirt bikes (ie. Suspension; Tall and Slim; You can ride while standing on the pegs; Light weight). I ride them in the grass and gravel all the time, and up dirt roads going up and over a mountain. Anyway, the thing that limits them is that they have road tires (so they cannot do mud). I was going to make one into a bobber....... but now I am thinking [because of your videos] of doing a "Scrambler". Do you have videos of your CX500 Scrambler going on dirt, gravel, or mud? I would be interested to know if those nobby tires (and different rims) make a huge difference. I would love to see that video. One last comment: I do not appreciate videos of "builds" that skip over all the details in the building process and leave it (I guess) to your imagination ....... by just showing end results (a.k.a. "walk-around" looks)......... but then also never show the bike in action (highway, dirt, whatever), so you never know if they are any good on performance. Thankfully, your vids of this build are 100%. Thank you for the long & detailed videos............. and especially for actual vids of the performance result, not just the bike sitting with its kickstand down! ......... I am tired of vids which leave me wondering, yeah, but did the change in suspension (etc.) actually work? I also like videos where they include "I made a mistake and here is how I corrected my mistake' in them. Explanations of why 'you changed your mind', on a particular build aspect, are very helpful to me. (ie. 'Trial and Error' method of a build.) Thank You.
