This song could easily be the theme of a musical theater production--it is complex, emotional, and displays her incredible vocal range. Back then, as an ambitious young performer myself, I wrote her off. Was I ever wrong!! Go Debbie!
Why can’t today’s artist be like this with fun and simple songs and videos like these with no one being half naked in them. I swear if I could pick what era to be a teen in I’d chose the 80’s. A lot was better then than today’s music tbh.
The 80's were great as a teen, I was one of them, the world was so optimistic, anyone could make it, but then came the sobering 90's and the crushing reality of being an adult, and life has kinda sucked ever since.
The 90's were a great time to be a teen as well. I honestly think that generation was the last one where the dudes actually had naturally occurring testosterone. The kids today are all bitches!
I will admit that, at the time, she was everywhere to the point of annoyance. I was about 18 and I wasn’t into the pop scene at all. She was constantly on MTV and then suddenly, she wasn’t. She was a victim of some backlash as mainstream music took a huge hit. The 1990’s brought in grunge and gangsta rap. Two things that killed what was left of the 80’s. I remember when Debbie showed up to sing with the Circle Jerks at CBGBs in the mid-90s. I was saddened at seeing her try to find relevance again. I realized then and now what we lost. The girl was super-talented and gifted, and that beautiful era of 80’s innocence was gone. So, I look back at this video and see a brighter, more hopeful time. Debbie was such a sweetheart! I may be a 90's born kid but I feel like I'm an old soul living in a young body. Boy, i just enjoy musics of 80's , 90's , 00's and old school EDMs so much that I have already forgotten what music is nowadays.. ain't nothing like them old but great stuffs like this one anymore.. sad truth.
While "Out of the Blue" made me a fan, "Electric Youth" made me a diehard fan. Still an infectious song to this day. Debbie doesn't get enough credit for her killer pop tracks.
So many good songs in the 80s. I still play this and im 52, i think the world has run out of music. Wish i was 19 again. You wont hear todays music in 30yrs time in fact you wont hear it in 2 yrs its just noise with no tune or hook. A true artist and there's a reason they're called that as being artistic wasn't just miming to songs written for you whilst you basically got naked to promote it. I may be stuck in the 80's but it's not a bad one to be stuck in.
The world ain't never going to run out of music because the devil was the leader of the choir in heaven and when he got cast out he went to hell so music going to be around forever LMFAO and plus there's a lot of amazing music out now if you choose to be stuck in a Time capsule that's fine say that but don't this music now just cuz you don't enjoy it
I was Electric Youth, Generation X, etc etc. I had Debbie Gibson posters all over my bedroom walls. I still have several copies of the cassette version of this to this day. Why? This was a major part of my early teens & happens to be, still, in the top 5 of my favorite s of all time. Thank you Mrs. Gibson for your contributions to the music industry & my younger years.. Electric Youth will never grow old in my life. You were special. 🔥
I've always been a classic rock fan. The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, the Who, but with that being said, this song is so goddamn good. It's close to perfection. Debbie's vocals, all the stuff going on in the background. I can listen to it a million times and never get tired of it because every time I listen to it I hear something new. This was always my favorite song of hers even though it wasn't one of her biggest hits
I was her biggest fan in the late 1980's and 1990's like you wouldn't believe. I had my mom cut my hair just like her and dressed like her. I joined choir because of her. I still love her 30 years later Debbie Gibson!!! ❣️❣️❣️❣️🎵🎵🎵🎵
It’s not really underrated though Is it. It was a hit on its original release, is regarded as a highlight of the album it came from and is fairly warmly regarded. 🤷🏻♂️
@@olivervanburen704Actually I did damage one. I remember being a teenager, my mom called me to dinner. I didn't want to stop playing my video game, so I picked a cassette up and whipped it at the wall. Unfortunately, it was Debbie's Out Of The Blue tape (not the case, I whipped the tape). It still played, though, and I think I still have the tape my parents' house.
So I used my VCR to record this as a kid and learn the dance. Now I’m a dance teacher. Not sure why I am just now looking it up 😂 I’ve since lost my VHS tape with it on it

This was real Clean Music. Her and Tiffany closed the 80s era and started the early 90s style. I love the style Debbie had, she had a Jazzie turned into pop. Absolutely love this video. I was 7 years young
There is so many things that I love about this video. Debbie Gibson dressed like a teenager of the 1980's. She wasn't dress as an adult or a sex object. I think that I saw her mom and one of her sisters in this video. I bet Debbie's mom was protective of Debbie. Being in the music industry.
Debbie Gibson mom was the mom Lynn Spears should have been to her daughter (Britney) when it came to media and music industry protecting her daughter from. Debbie’s mom did not care for Her daughter money and fame. Lynn was the complete opposite.
This was the EXACTLY problem. All her fans were growing up QUICKLY. We didn't want to be dragged back into the bedroom to play with toys ... This was speaking to people who were like 11-13 years old. Not a huge audience. Everyone else was like, "Sure, Jan."
One favourite Debbie gibson songs i still have all her lp's and singles on vinyl had a massive crush on her 😍 I still do she's still as beautiful now as she was in 80s

Nope. The Rhythm Nation posse came by and took everyone out ...
I'm glad to be GenX people. The best of all. This is one. Of us.
Generation Electric Youth! 😜
No. This is cringe. And Gen-X was never into cringe ... in 2025: It's OK again for nostalgia value ...
A true singer , songwriter, and talented musician .
Debbie was such a sweetheart! I may be a 90's born kid but I feel like I'm an old soul living in a young body. Boy, i just enjoy musics of 80's , 90's , 00's and old school EDMs so much that I have already forgotten what music is nowadays.. ain't nothing like them old but great stuffs like this one anymore.. sad truth.
Proudly watching this masterpiece at the end of 2024, 35 years apart from its first airing 📺 I love Debbie so much
While "Out of the Blue" made me a fan, "Electric Youth" made me a diehard fan. Still an infectious song to this day. Debbie doesn't get enough credit for her killer pop tracks.
Loved her Theatre stuff as well during and after her pop days
1980s FOREVER !!!
It’s electric.. 31 years later. If you’re still listening to this in 2020 with the awesome old school music power of MTV, you got class and style.
Thank you 4 saying I got class and style.
Alden R. Davis I’m 12 and love Debbie Gibson and etc and I get bullied for saying the 80s and 90s were better but they really were
Alden R. Davis i dont know why i love this kind of music . Its rare and pure ! lol . im only 25 and this song is 31 . hahaha .
@@GlamMetalSiren The kids of today have no Clue what's GOOD ! You are right, you have Class and Style !! 👏👏👏
No social media and no internet which has ruined a lot of things.
I'm 53 years, I love this song....the 80' were the Best, musicians, sound💃
So many good songs in the 80s. I still play this and im 52, i think the world has run out of music. Wish i was 19 again. You wont hear todays music in 30yrs time in fact you wont hear it in 2 yrs its just noise with no tune or hook. A true artist and there's a reason they're called that as being artistic wasn't just miming to songs written for you whilst you basically got naked to promote it. I may be stuck in the 80's but it's not a bad one to be stuck in.
The world ain't never going to run out of music because the devil was the leader of the choir in heaven and when he got cast out he went to hell so music going to be around forever LMFAO and plus there's a lot of amazing music out now if you choose to be stuck in a Time capsule that's fine say that but don't this music now just cuz you don't enjoy it
Everything is just shit today. We've peaked as a civilisation. 80s was definitely the climax.
Debbie is an oracle, she can literally foresee the future!
Debbie Gibson is an icon 😍 I love her .
Many love you many thanks
M
YES MADELYN JİMENEZ CABRERA VARGAS YES MANY LOVE YOU MANY LOVE YOU
I was Electric Youth, Generation X, etc etc.
Anyone who says the 80's were sh*t - they never had the radio on...
Feels remarkably modern and fresh tbh. Could be a hit in 2023.
Да мне тоже нравится ✌🏻✌🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
You're insane but I love that about you!
デビー・ギブソンさんの曲の中で最も気に入っているナンバー。
このMVはとても格好良く、心の底からパワーがみなぎる素晴らしいダンスナンバーに仕上がっています。
Who's still listening to this song up to this year 2019?❤️ Debbie Gibson is the best!
Anjoline Tara Ligaray, love Debbie's music!! Been listening for a long time.
Anjoline Tara Ligaray ITS ⚡️
Still listening in 2019!

글을 써야하나...
89년도 흐뭇 중3때 1,2,3,4집을 사서 들었던 기억이 나지만..
데비님의 살아있는 에너지는 그 때 충격이었습니다.!
This song has positive lyrics and made a hit.
the Princess of 80's!!!
Late 80s only.
She was replaced by Britney Spear Generation
She is in 90's!
The Princess of 80,s, is Kylie Minogue.

This is the most 1989 thing i've ever seen and i love it so much.
Still running to this at 45 ; )
And now at 46 😉
@@rebekah518 and still at 47, I hope?
55 years it's a uplifting song. 😊
Jesus, my most favourite and memorable song since 14 years old, love you, gifted singer, Debbie Gibson.
Darcy Marie Druck Tcb Mel Gibson must be proud 😊
The electric youth album was really good I liked every song as a young girl.
I love this song she sang songs that we will never forget how amazing she was
Such an underrated song. It’s a classic and so beloved
Yes it is. I remember I had this album on cassette tape. You could throw those things and they would not get damaged. lol
It’s not really underrated though Is it. It was a hit on its original release, is regarded as a highlight of the album it came from and is fairly warmly regarded. 🤷🏻♂️
JUVENTUD ELÉCTRICA 💯💥
@@olivervanburen704Actually I did damage one. I remember being a teenager, my mom called me to dinner. I didn't want to stop playing my video game, so I picked a cassette up and whipped it at the wall. Unfortunately, it was Debbie's Out Of The Blue tape (not the case, I whipped the tape). It still played, though, and I think I still have the tape my parents' house.
I'm 11 years old but I LOVE this song, its rhythm, its lyrics and its instruments
Still one of the most infectious songs from the 80s.
She is coming to our city and we will definitely be watching her show!!!!!! Yaaay! April 2025 in Calgary, Alberta in Canada.
So I used my VCR to record this as a kid and learn the dance. Now I’m a dance teacher. Not sure why I am just now looking it up 😂 I’ve since lost my VHS tape with it on it
I use these videos to practise for my dance classes each week.I am doing them on the bus to prepare me for Monday
@@franzchong5889 love that! Teachers can tell when their dancers practice on their own 😊 and we always appreciate the effort and enthusiasm!
I'm sixty-four and I've loved Debbie's music since I first saw her videos on MTV.
I want the 80s back so bad , such a wonderful time in our history to grow up!
It was great. Did you ever see a movie called "Take Me Home Tonight" ? It took place in the 80's and was pretty good..
@@olivervanburen704 no, but ty for letting us all know , will have to watch it!
@@cjsadman3750 It is worth a look.
Just saw her on the new TV show "we are family"..fabulous! Still sounds and looks great! Ahhh the 80s..what fun times indeed..glad I was able to be a part of them 🎉❤
This was real Clean Music. Her and Tiffany closed the 80s era and started the early 90s style. I love the style Debbie had, she had a Jazzie turned into pop. Absolutely love this video. I was 7 years young
I was 15 during my generation which means you were the next generation in "Electric Youth" 🤔😎🤣👍
I was 9. Man I miss the 80s!
She had great voice and wholesomeness. Loved this video and her music!
80s was the best! Music, movies and freedom!
no nudity and sexy, just music and talented Debbie Gibson
イーレクトリックユース! 懐かしくて 嬉しくて 何度も聞いてしまいます
The best decade .. The last decade of innocence and simplicity ..
One favourite Debbie gibson songs i still have all her lp's and singles on vinyl had a massive crush on her 😍 I still do she's still as beautiful now as she was in 80s
One thing about music it never dies it Always there for ever , I use to listen to this song over and over when I was younger the music will always be around but we will not
Lately I find myself listening to the 80"s music and mostly watching the movies I adored and grew up on. Missing my mom as well brings back a lot of memories. I sure do miss those times.
I want to go back to 80s
They were the best times weren't they? Todays generation have no idea what they've missed out on!
This songs brings back memories of my "Electric Youth" of being in my 20's during the 80's!
HOLY SIHT I grew up with this song. My dad would play this every morning!!
Pure 80's I loved, love and always will love...
Saved up and bought her record :)
Always was a huge fan of Debbie Gibson! Was so blessed to have been able to grow up in that era!!
Yeah, I was also young and happy to know her in my life.
This song has the kind of lyrics I like. I just discovered it few days ago. Now I'm a Debbie Gibson Fan. She is a true artist.
This was perfect . People that was before britney and taylor
She was making money doing good music dancing and being in the heart of a generation without using internet all was organic
Vocally, she was extremely talented.
This song never gets old. It's 80s but until now i'm still loving this song.
Me too! For us this song is timeless. I'm proud to tell my 2 daughters that this song is precious and sung by a multi talented singer.
I found an Electric Youth tape at a sale yesterday and this title track blew my mind. How has this passed me by all this time?! Perfection.
It's a masterpiece of pop music.
Before the Era of Dance Youths in the 80s, there's Debbie Gibson. Followed by Britney Spears in the 1990s to year 2,000. Their the only two young fresh Blondes who conquered the Youths during their time.
