As an 80s child who loved this at the time, I declare that nothing has ever been more gloriously 80s than this!
Whoever choreographed this at that time is a pure genuis! I'm fucking shocked ! I'm a choreographer and I've never seen choreo from old music videos this advanced interns of being clean and on constant beat. I'm having hard time to believe this an old clip I keep thinking this is a new song just in the 80s them and all comments are in on it with the prank lol
Aqui no Brasil foi tema da novela Top Model (1989-1990)
Porém, não foi incluso no disco da trilha sonora internacional

@@24sowl11 Taylor Swift might have better-looking dancers and auto tunes, but she can't match the choreo technique of this album. It's so ahead of its time.

Why can’t today’s artist be like this with fun and simple songs and videos like these with no one being half naked in them. I swear if I could pick what era to be a teen in I’d chose the 80’s. A lot was better then than today’s music tbh.
They will says its out dated not kool.
Agreed..
The 80's were great as a teen, I was one of them, the world was so optimistic, anyone could make it, but then came the sobering 90's and the crushing reality of being an adult, and life has kinda sucked ever since.
I guess you never saw a video with Madonna then huh stupid
The 90's were a great time to be a teen as well. I honestly think that generation was the last one where the dudes actually had naturally occurring testosterone. The kids today are all bitches!
OK...Debbie sang, she danced, she wrote, she arranged, she produced and she played instruments. She wasn't just a threat. She was a MENACE. And that menace just happened to write some infectiously melodic songs. OMG! Songwriters today need to hear songs like this...they'd kill for hooks this simple yet this sharp.

I was just having this debate in my mind, because I really used to be Team Tiffany. But, as I am older, and I am a musician, I look back and I think I'm changing teams. Tiffany was a rocker girl, but she was a glorified karaoke singer. Deb had everything you listed.

I miss the 80s songs happy and energetic so catchy and hook
I will admit that, at the time, she was everywhere to the point of annoyance. I was about 18 and I wasn’t into the pop scene at all. She was constantly on MTV and then suddenly, she wasn’t. She was a victim of some backlash as mainstream music took a huge hit. The 1990’s brought in grunge and gangsta rap. Two things that killed what was left of the 80’s. I remember when Debbie showed up to sing with the Circle Jerks at CBGBs in the mid-90s. I was saddened at seeing her try to find relevance again. I realized then and now what we lost. The girl was super-talented and gifted, and that beautiful era of 80’s innocence was gone. So, I look back at this video and see a brighter, more hopeful time. We’ll never have this peaceful, wonderful time again - and that hurts to think about.
She came up at he wrong time, she could have been as big as Taylor Swift if the time was right
@@nuclearcatbaby1131it was better for her to emerge in the 80’s, as the 90’s devolved into a musical mess for a long time. No pop-friendly at all. No one says, “Hey, remember that great hit from 1999? Or 2005?” I have enjoyed music from the last 15 years or so. The market has allowed many bands and acts to come back. Debbie is accepted more now than she has been in 30 years.
You struck a chord in me with this comment. I have been really curious as to why the 90s music scene was so depressing, subdued and seemed to embrace the worst in life compared to the 80s, which seemed so amazing with the brightness and optimism despite the bad.
@@PrairieFalcon I know, right? I don’t think we’re alone in this feeling. Something dark came into the world in the 90’s and has stuck around for every decade. Constant war, depression, lack of civility, depleted morals - it’s been very bleak.
Debbie Gibson was a victim of the changing music styles. It is sad 😕 because she was a very talented girl. Of course Debbie was not the only one - almost all pop acts flopped in the early 90s.

@@christinamitchell6796 Debbie and Tiffany avoided the fall that often comes with being a big pop star. Debbie had to retire because fans were showing up at her house and always demanding her time, so she could never really unwind and relax.
As for Tiffany, the worst she did was appear in Playboy, and that's not even bad.
The only real low point for them was appearing in a Sy-fy channel movie together...which allowed them to become friends.

To the future itself/in the hands of itself
And the future is
Electric youth
It's true you can't fight it
Live by it
The next generation
Inflation
Flirtation
Relaxation
Elation
Generation of
An electric youth!
THANKS FOR THE LYRICS!

Oh to be young again 🤩
2:55 the old men dance moves. Love it. I was 17 when this song came out. Great times the 80s. The movies, music, toys, TV shows, cloths, EVERYTHING !! you had to have been there. 😀
I was there and agree with you
I got 14 years old and i wish been there 🙏🏻
i was there and i totally agree 🥰
Tell them again! It was amazing growing up in the eighties!
Happy 35th to Electric Youth!
La mejor. En el Colegio se hacían las coreografías de Debbie Gibson una voz espectacular, los mejores momentos de nuestra juventud, todavía escuchandote en el 2020 han pasado como 30 años, parece que fue ayer, te queremos.
Wow. When I was young all I knew of Debbie Gibson was breathy ballads and punchy pop songs; this song (and dance, and the fact that she wrote it, etc) shows her to most definitely be a prodigy! This song could easily be the theme of a musical theater production--it is complex, emotional, and displays her incredible vocal range. Back then, as an ambitious young performer myself, I wrote her off. Was I ever wrong!! Go Debbie!
Such a fun song,no nudes,no cursing, just a fun song.brings back memories
The GEN X song
Lyrics
Zappin' it to you, the pressure's everywhere
Goin' right through you
The fever's in the air, oh, yeah, it's there
Don't underestimate the power of a lifetime ahead
Electric youth, feel the power
You see the energy comin' up, coming on strong
The future only belongs to the future itself
And the future is electric youth
It's true you can't fight it, live by it
The next generation, it's electric
We've got the most time to make the world go round
Oh, can you spare a dime?
Place your bet on our sound, come back to town
Don't lose sight of potential mastermind
Remember when you were young
Electric youth, feel the power
You see the energy comin' up, coming on strong
The future only belongs in the hands of itself
And the future is electric youth
It's true you can't fight it, live by it
The next generation, it's electric
We do what comes naturally
You see now, wait for the possibility
Don't you see a strong resemblance to yourself?
Don't you think what we say is important?
Whatever it may be, the fun is gonna start with me
I'm bringing it back
Electric youth, feel the power
You see the energy comin' up, coming on strong
The future only belongs to the future itself
And the future is, electric youth
It's true you can't fight it, live by it
The next generation, it's electrifying
Electric youth, feel the power
You see the energy comin' up, coming on strong
The future only belongs in the hands of itself
And the future is electric youth
It's true you can't fight it, live by it
The next generation, it's electric
It's electric, it's electric
Electric youth, feel the power
You see the energy comin' up, coming on strong
The future only belongs to the future itself
And the future is electric youth
It's true you can't fight it, live by it
The next generation
Inflation, flirtation
Relaxation, elation
Generation of
An electric youth

I STILL have her poster hanging in my house 30 YEARS LATER! It is in the computer room where I'm typing this message. Not bad for a dedicated fan!
In the words of John Bender, that is demented and sad.
LOL !!!
Robert Bardo also had Debbie Gibson posters on his wall. You should google him.
She didn’t have to get naked to sell her music 🎼 everything was so clean and really all about teenagers having fun ❤❤❤
I've only seen this comment 100 million times thanks for being original.
So true 🙂
Few day to goodbye year 2020 and who's watching this for new year's 2021.happy new years everyone.
Happy New Year !!!

Happy New Year! 🎆
The future only belongs in the future itself. 😉
i did
2021??
So I used my VCR to record this as a kid and learn the dance. Now I’m a dance teacher. Not sure why I am just now looking it up 😂 I’ve since lost my VHS tape with it on it
I use these videos to practise for my dance classes each week.I am doing them on the bus to prepare me for Monday
@@franzchong5889 love that! Teachers can tell when their dancers practice on their own 😊 and we always appreciate the effort and enthusiasm!
Just discovered this song while looking at her new video single. I was born that year-so I was never alive during her heyday, but wow! This was really good! I've used it on my bike riding workouts lol!
If only we had this video and a screen for a special dance club where I was last night. We have a new member in the class who did the best they could but could have benefitted from this.
You were alive during her heyday, but you were a baby. 😏 I was two when she came out with Out Of The Blue. I was five when Electric Youth came out. 😀
Beautiful Debbie, interpreting this theme you are even more beautiful, transmit your warmth... you are eternal... You don't have a pimp.....
Whos watching now 2022?
So many good songs in the 80s. I still play this and im 52, i think the world has run out of music. Wish i was 19 again. You wont hear todays music in 30yrs time in fact you wont hear it in 2 yrs its just noise with no tune or hook. A true artist and there's a reason they're called that as being artistic wasn't just miming to songs written for you whilst you basically got naked to promote it. I may be stuck in the 80's but it's not a bad one to be stuck in.
The world ain't never going to run out of music because the devil was the leader of the choir in heaven and when he got cast out he went to hell so music going to be around forever LMFAO and plus there's a lot of amazing music out now if you choose to be stuck in a Time capsule that's fine say that but don't this music now just cuz you don't enjoy it
Everything is just shit today. We've peaked as a civilisation. 80s was definitely the climax.
Mi cantante favorita de la época. Ha sabido envejecer muy bien. Es y será siempre muy talentosa y bella.
80s Taylor Swift
Debbie was better
She looks like a more wholesome Brittany Spears in this video
Not hard to be more wholesome than B.S.....
Brittany wanted to emulate Debbie, but then she got a little... skanky...
Skanky or kinky?
@@komarkomar8794 😂
Brittany Spears looks like Debbie Gibson...🙁
Before Britney Spears there was trailblazer Debbie Gibson with her fresh choreograpic moves, imaginative songwriting, video productions and heartfelt music. Ahead of her time. Class A act.
Britney who?
@@BaronKresnar google plz
The choreo is still amazing. I've tried and failed to recreate it many times.
HOLY SIHT I grew up with this song. My dad would play this every morning!!
