    I kept saying this last year during MVP battle! Pitching is more important than hitting!! Ohtani should have been MVP last year over a position player. Now that US loses with the best roster, I think they should reconsider Aaron Judge’s MVP.

      Well, reconsidering Judge's MVP is unrealistic, but hope some people learn a lesson.

    The only thing I disgree with Curt Schilling is the idea that it wasn't a "world series", because the best American pitchers didn't play. I argue that it WAS the World Series. That's how every team that participated saw the tournament as. It's the fault of the U.S. pitchers for not wanting to participate. I do expect this to change in the next tournament, just as the Dream Team was put together in the NBA to revenge an embarrassing loss in the Olympics.

    Congratulations Japan 🇯🇵 👏🏻 and USA 🇺🇸 I heard some say they won cause the US did'nt have the All Star pitchers, well they certaintly had All Super Star hitters from one to nine, had mutiple hitters with MVPs, the lineup was'nt even close to other countries, it just shows how great Japan is as a team.

      The MAIN factor to Team USA's loss was not the lack of good pitching (though a factor indeed) , but lies in the fact that they underestimated Team Japan's pitching and were over confident about their batting lineup (though they had good reason to be) . DeRosa put it perfectly when he stated that they didn't expect their lineup to be held to only two runs. Anyone in the baseball community should know that batting is the least sure thing in baseball, so starting your game plan from calculating how many runs you're gonna score is the most ridiculous thing to do. What made the US experts make such a fundamental error? Underestimating one's opponent and being over confident about oneself. If they don't fix this mentality and consider their opponents as worthy equals (even when they aren't) , there's always going to be room for upsets, and they might not even win the next one with their best pitchers.

      I don't think you understand. USA was using pitchers I had never heard of, like not even top 50 US born pitchers were on the team. It was embarrassing

    What the people in the states don't know about Ohtani is that
    he is a baseball geek who had notes and memos of training routines on his wall and diary during his highschool days
    he lives a simple life / mom takes care of his money / he gets his nutrition from his sponsorships
    he will occasionally spend some money but will spend it on others like giving Lars a watch to come out to the next one to play for team Japan again
    he wore Czech's cap to the states telling them that he'll take them with him as well
    He literally is like no other in a sense that he is all baseball and a sound human being nothing else unlike the rest of the tainted adults out there.

    • @clubeyxander5132
      @clubeyxander5132 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, that't harsh...
      The fun fact is, batting in softball is totally different from batting in baseball. Well, the fundamentals are the same, but the timing is ridiculously different. ML hitters would probably not bode well against the best USA women's softball pitchers. Hiromitsu Ochiai, a three time triple crown winner in NPB, once challenged Japan's softball team ace in a TV show, but he could barely hit a foul ball even when the velocity of the pitches were about 65 mph.

    Hmmm. I think you’re underestimating what the WBC meant to international players. Shohei grew up wanting to represent Japan in WBC. It’s not just about playing a meaningful games. It’s literally in his life goals to win WBC and WBC MVP. Also, Latin American MLB players treat this the same (evidence: almost all famous Latino MLB players not named Tatis prolly played for their countries). The only country who doesn’t take the WBC seriously is the USA. Randy Arozarena was even finally naturalized as Mexican so he could play for Mexico after he tagged or messaged the President to have his application approved and promised to play for Mexico.

      i don't think so, the US roster is loaded with 10 star-studded players while other teams had none or 1 the most. Also other teams had only 1-2 MLB players the most and some teams don't have any MLB player at all. The amount of experiences and talents on the US roster is staggering compared to other teams.

    • @littledragon2007

      @@littledragon2007 they are all MLB pitchers while 99% of foreign teams had zero MLB pitcher. Again the experiences of US roster is staggering compared to foreign teams.

    • @clubeyxander5132
      @clubeyxander5132 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@littledragon2007 Yeah, it's true the US team could have brought better pitchers to the tournament. But it's USA's fault that hey didn't. Besides, Americans that are complaining about the loss against Japan are really barking up the wrong tree. US pitchers did well to contain the Japanese lineup to only three runs, the least they scored all tournament. It's the batters that didn't show up when needed most. Even DeRosa admitted that he didn't expect his team to be contained to two runs.

  • @XKathXgames

    Like he won the World Series... which only has ONE single country play. Why do you think the WBC is so important to every other country? This is the REAL world series. Yet for you guys it's a lesser tournament... not even gonna bother saying what I think that attitude is.

  • @lousassle9387
    @lousassle9387 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Some great insight here about the WBC but can you expect less from an all time great? Considering pace of play the reason you see an issue during an MLB season is the span from July to September 1st. The games for bottom feeders are never exciting and the contenders draw out games from analytical strategy. With the pitch clock there's less time for that nonsense and it will be nice and refreshing watching quicker games.

      So you're saying Trout agrees to participate in the WBC, only to accept a scripted event, which he's on the losing end of? And you can't say the ump had anything to do with the outcome, since Trout took the swing, which would've been an out if he didn't swing since that slider was in the strike zone

    Wdym there's nothing beneficial for your team as an owner regarding the WBC?? The players literally had their social media followings balloon up, people who probably never even cared or knew about baseball before are now going to become hardcore fans, and among those there are certainly going to be people who will eat the merch like a vacuum. There's been (almost, there were like, 2 injuries) nothing but benefits for the players who participated in the WBC, and especially for the owners because their fanbase exploded in just a couple weeks.

  • @jerryharris6342

    Pitchers start gaming the system with pace of play rules, they're only going end up making them more restrictive for all pitchers. This isn't going to be a winning strategy. MLB is serious about trimming the fat.

    I quit following MLB because of all the political correct bullshit. I live in Boston and I'm (I should say was) a lifelong Red Sox fan, that is until John Henry had "BLACK LIVES MATTER" painted in twelve foot high letters on the back of the green monster, and left it up there for two plus years. That was the final straw for me.... but I digress. The reason I tuned into this podcast is because I saw Curt Schilling in a thumb nail on my feed. In my opinion, Curt is one of the great pitchers in Red Sox history and a great showman to boot! The 'bloody sock' victory is one of the unforgettable memories in Boston sports history. Love ya, Curt!

      I'm turned off by the NBA and NFL for the same reason, over the racial politics (I'm 39). I didn't grow up watching baseball or MLB in the 90s. Ohtani made me a fan. What a delight he is being humble, respectful, and down to earth for an amazing athlete of his stature compared to the Lebron James, Colin Kapernicks, Megan Rapinoe's of the world. It's like stfu you get paid $ millions to play a kid's game. Be humble
