“I understand that the council has reached a decision, but given that it’s a stupid ass decision, I’ve elected to ignore it.”
I love the hesitation when reading "anyone reading this document" really drove the ideal home
Definitely a nice touch.
I love how the researcher was reading the document when it hit him, he was now part of an ever growing problem halfway through reading at 6:41 and almost stopped.
SCP Orientation does a good job of that too. He is clinical most of the time, but his voice drips with distaste at anything excessively gory or lude.
Yes, that's why I'm such a fan of how this is being done. Very well performed containment procedures are so effective in their process. If he hadn't had the excerpts it wouldn't have included him in the contaminants but because of his security clearance got him in a predicament. Probably "went and amestisised" after that 😂

“So now that the whole lecture hall has been exposed to this infohazard, and amnestics have been proven to be ineffective, does this mean we’re now all demoted to D-Class? I was kinda in the middle of a research project.”
I kinda feel sorry for Mikey, but at least people believing he’s the ‘real’ SCP and him containing his ‘plushy’ friend means he seems to be getting decent care compared to the average D-Class. I feel like the SCP lacking the will to resist might imply that the SCP, if capable of conscious thought or affection, truly cares about him too.
Its acting as an uno-reverse mirror. D-1055 shows no hostility to the SCP, so therefore it doesn't grow in hostile reaction. If anything, D-1055 viewing it as a "protective/warm blanket" instead of the pelt of an XK-class bear would be like putting water over a fire instead of gasoline.
@@HedgehogSpeedSonic I love this idea

@@TheVolgun I am going to report you to ethics committee Dr.Miller you should have tell us early and no putting info hazerd warning at the start of the video dont help
i love the kind of file that "you shouldn't have read this" they're good at being unsettling
I really like these ones where its a very specific problem that requires an extremely tailored and novel solution and containment protocal. I know scp content has lost most of ita attention but youve always been the most tolerable and digestable one putting out videos like this.
It feels like all the other scp readers don't look for anything new. They just find the most basic generic scps then read it boringly.
@@mtdfs5147 Sight-42 does dramatic readings of new anomalies. However, their taste in selection doesn't match my interest as much as The Volgen's. I would recommend SCP Orientation as well for non-standard SCPs.
Same, the one about the fallen angel and the ritual that requires personnel with DNA tracing back to a specific class of ancient jewish priests is another good example of that type of containment
edit: went and found the scp I was thinking of, it’s 1348
47k views in under 48 hours is a pretty respectable result on youtube, I think. Maybe SCP content isn't as big as it used to be, but one of the good things about it is that it's evergreen - older SCP videos keep getting views and never really lose relevance for anyone who finds it and ends up enjoying it.
@@Hotshot2k4 that's a great point
Another thing to consider is that Mikey probably understands on some level how important his job is. He might actually feel proud by doing something to protect the world simply by being himself
I like those SCP's where the document is formatted in a way to convince you that the skip is something else entirely to fit with the general theme/story being told, and this is a good example, with the misdirection being essential for containing an infohazard like this. I like the tit-for-tat between the O5's at the end there, even if it ends on us learning there is a specific protocol for recruiting mentally-challenged D-class for Keter work. Lucky them I guess.
Plus, it's another bear-like SCP. At least it's not the Build-a-Bear one. That one still gives me nightmares.
I imagine it's for Keter that effect the minds of staff, or for whom knowledge is a detriment or dangerous. Better then breaking down some D-classes mind with memetic and/or amnestics + surgery.
When written well, they always showcase exactly what the SCP foundation is. They're the secret illuminati who "die in the dark, so you can live in the light." And by necessity, they need to be experts in misdirection and info subterfuge.
Tbh, this would be a dream job for anyone capable of handling this hyper-aggressive-XK-Class-Bio-Bear SCP; they get to hug this fluffy, warm, bugsy, and get pampered with the full resources of the SCP Foundation catering to them.
D-1055 could be living like royalty, but is suffice with chicken tendies and a warm blanky.
I always liked this one. Not entirely sure why, but there's just something about holding back the end of the world with the innocence of a child (or, in this case, a child-like adult) that's fascinating to me.
It puts a nice spin on things.
Unlike the stag, its not a world ending force of nature in of itself. It doesn't require ritual sacrifice. It doesn't require inhuman acts. It is almost Euclid, being able to be kept in a box pretty easy.
And now it is a lovely example of why the foundation's focus on containment, not destruction, is usually the correct way forward.
Tells coworker about creepy stuffed bear the scp has, bear gets larger. hr calls both of you to the special promotion room, bear shrinks.
...did Dr Miller just kill all of us?
Again?
Something something Memetic filter. Functionally the same information but with different details.
The Volgun is an SCP which nullifies info hazards at the cost of publicizing them autonomously. Since all containment measures undertaken the foundation have failed, the disinformation wing has been tasked with integrating the anomalous TH-cam channels leaks into their propaganda efforts.
The article itself is protected with a memetic filter that gives you a good idea of what is stored, without giving away the important details which activates its anomalous properties. Almost all infohazardous articles are canonically presented with this filter on the foundation’s database.
The emotion as reading that you’d need to be terminated was amazing.
The realization that probably every single one of his colleagues and the entire 0-5 command would need to be terminated hit his hard..

A great 'old school' SCP. There is a whole world of events in a story/report just 2 pages long. Fantastic narration as ever, thank you!
Most of the new SCP articles remind me of that time when Brian took Stewie's ADHD medicine and spent the night writing a 2,000 page treatment of his new scifi/fantasy world.
yea, i'm tired of hour-long scp videos. Its a SHORT story exercise, not a screenplay@@AnonYmous-np6jn
@AnonYmous-np6jn new scp stuff either are just terrible self insert power fantasy or you need to read 4 different scp files to make any sense out of it because it's it's own spin off universe
@@a_malicious_tea2658 There are a few new-ish SCP stories that are really good, like Aeriels, but I'd sadly have to agree with you. Hopefully 2024 will be filled with new high-quality SCP entries.
@@AnonYmous-np6jn new scp is just power fantasy immortal thing that kills with like 5 different pages of information which makes no sense. Which is why I hate modern entries, there are some good German and French scps that I read but there's not much of them that are worth reading
10:00 I think that, “putting it in the sky where anyone can see it,” may be in reference to the Ursa Major/Minor constellations. I’m not sure what else it could mean. If anyone sees this and has another idea, please let me know!
I think it just references the previous 05s Idea about "orbital containment"?
People often speculate about what kind of payload is launched on confidential government missions. Even if they lie and say it's a regular satellite, we have no idea if this kind of indirect attention (people watch the bear being launched without knowing it's the bear) also triggers its effect. I'd rather not take the chance to find out
It may be cold and cruel, but an orbital intombment is probably the best solution. By indications, the bear can die, we just tend to make it grow too fast by becoming aware of it with hostile intent. Have Mikey go on a 'fun space ride', keep him happy and taking Bugsy with him. He goes up on the spaceship into a space station that's designed specifically for the two of them. Then the O5 council hits the button that nobody else in the project is told about that vents 100% of the air in the space station as fast as possible. Zero new people are aware of the bear's nature, and the bear doesn't get to grow because there's nobody other than Mikey around for at least 100km. For additional safety, have the button also trigger a battery of solid state rockets designed to push the station out of Earth orbit and into intersolar space, to eliminate any chance of unforeseen consequences. Mikey is sacrificed, but we eliminate an XK-class scenario threat. If need be, give Mikey a collar that detonates when the 'vent the air' button is pressed so there's no asphyxiation, just a quick boom.
Fucking genius dude
"Launch it into space" is often the best solution for most SCPs, but it's sort of lazy writing, hence why writers usually avoid it.
what if bugsy actually doesnt need to breathe/ only goes into a state of hybernation? probably not but it could definitely get worse .
If it goes into interstellar space that is decent but if it doesnt and comes crashing down to earth well things could go very bad.
definitely could work as a last scenario but probably not optimal
@@tdotitan8855 Aliens find it. "Oh whats this a bear? It looks pretty weird too." (Weird gets seen as hostile causing the sudden growth and destruction of the universe as multiple different alien species all learn about it and become more and more hostile against it due to them thinking they can beat the giant mass of BEAR)
heartless, but effective. however, as someone else pointed out, a lot of SCP's could be "contained" by just hucking them into space; which, if u believe certain 001 proposals that place SCP's as originating from space, its kind of funny to imagine. eldritch gods from galaxies away send keter-class SCP's to attack the earth and we're just like "no thx bro" and throw it back at them.
either way, this is a pretty cool and elaborate way to resolve this SCP. well thought out!
the grooming part gave me shivers
I swear, bear related SCPs always end up being vicious whether it be metaphorically or literally. Pretty fitting
Hey, I didn't notice till now - happy 1 million! That's awesome, that an SCP based channel is so big now.
Check out Bedtime SCP he has a killer chanel also
Just checked to make sure I was already subbed.
Yep.
Especially great when covering infohazards lol
I get the feeling that if anything bad were to happen to Mikey, the Foundation would learn that up until now, they’ve only seem a glimpse of what Bugsy is truly capable of
I've been watching your content for years, and it's some of the best SCP content and VA I've seen. Thank you TheVolgun 👍
"And anyone who is reading this document..."
Man, they really pulled a Roko's Basilisk on us lmao
so here's a thought: if the general overall, nonspecific consensus is still that D-class are recruited from death row and the like... how did Mikey end up there? and if they were "recruiting" the mentally challenged as D-class before deciding on this "method of containment," where are they getting these people?
sometimes it's the simplest entries that highlight the, uhh, morally grey areas of the Foundation. I'll take a hundred articles like this over any given multi-chapter epic with its own anime lore, any given day of the week.
anyway, fantastic work as always, thanks guy
Ever read mice and men?
As someone who's on the autism spectrum, I always find myself prickling a bit at fictional depictions of autistic people -- with how much work I personally have had to do to push back against misconceptions about the diagnosis (in particular ones caused by pop-culture portrayals), I suppose I worry about a flawed portrayal giving even _more_ people the wrong ideas about autism. Call it a real-life cognitohazard, I guess.
At least the SCP Foundation material, well-written as it can be, is a niche enough topic of interest that _that_ particular cognitohazard is more or less contained.
Yeah the SCP articles, especially older ones, tend to not be great about autism or disability. At *best* it feels gimmicky/tropey and said characters are two-dimensional.
For context though this one was written about 12 years ago. Writing quality aside, the in-universe ethics of the Foundation have changed a lot.
@kyetes.866 I'd certainly _hope_ the Foundation doesn't still use mentally-disabled D-class personnel as quasi-consensual cannon fodder. They've got _plenty_ of ethical issues in the entire D-class setup to begin with, without roping in people who can't comprehend what they're being asked to do.
To be clear, I have no problems with SCP articles addressing neurodiversity and mental illness -- I'd honestly _applaud_ ASD representation that's done _properly_ -- but that's really the key: the only way to really do such a portrayal justice is to use first-hand experiences of what it's like to live with that sort of mind, rather than just watching _Rain Man_ with a notepad to hand. Most of the contributors didn't want to put in that amount of work, and I feel like the majority _still_ don't.
@@kyetes.866 This one didn't exactly go into enough detail about him to be considered a good or bad portrayal. There are plenty of worse depictions out there.
Agreed! Maybe some creative liberty could be taken to change the language in this story for instance not saying "suffers from autism". We don't need to be reiterating these gross depictions just because it was in the original story. It's 2024 I think creators can take a second to consider a retelling that isn't harmful.
@poofetus1407 "Diagnosed with" would be preferable to "suffers from", as a general rule. Implying that neurodivergence is a source of suffering suggests that any deviation from a so-called 'normal' is inherently wrong and must be corrected or suppressed -- but frankly, I've seen enough of how 'normal' people behave to question their judgment on the matter.
I been listening to you since you uploaded The Flesh that Hates vid. You got me through some shit times man… always looked forward to listening to ya, hope life treats ya well man
I like this one, it stands out quite a bit. Also interesting to see direct opinions from the council
The fear of this bear is so deep and visceral, you don't lose it even after forgetting. Then you've got someone that sees it as a comfort, and all is well.
Your channel is still hands down the best SCP Channel!
This is actually one of my favorite SCP.
There's a tendency among more dramatic SCPs to focus on the isolated properties of the anomaly itself, rather than how those properties inform its containment. What results may be a perfectly adequate or even exemplary piece of fiction, but one that exists in spite of the Foundation's premise rather than because of it. This SCP _doesn't_ do that. Bravo.
That is one hell of a teddy bear.
These are one of the highlights of my weekends every single time
Always great to listen to these. As well as learn about the other SCPs out there that aren't talk about or know much about in the SCP world. And there's alot of them listed.
Keep up the fantastic work on these and take care.
Hope you know how appreciated what you do is. Can’t even describe it.
This is presumably in one of the more backwater SCP timelines that cant just yeet the thing into the sun.
They literally explained that they will not do that, because launching it into space risks people seeing the vessel and becoming aware of it.
@@jellywillreturnthat was specifically in reference to orbital containment, which has a high probability containment failure.
Not solar neutralization, which will absolutely destroy it since it can be brought down with enough dakka.
@@RevokFarthis Alot of canons consider the sun to be a living organism and just saying if the sun is burning the bear that may be considered "hostile" intent.
@@johnjohnjohnson7720 Shelling it with artillery was certainly hostile intent, but it still blasted the thing to literal shreds. The sun can be as hostile as it wants if it still incinerates the skip.
@@RevokFarthis As the document and volgun said No damage done has at this time done more damage than it has caused growth.
This is actually pretty creative for an SCP.
I never understood this skip when it was featured in the Lord Bung music vid. This kinda helps but it still feels kinda out there. The magic of the first two series methinks.
I remember in the SCP that's literally all the keters contained with other keters to cancel one another out, 1055 was set up against Builder Bear.

I appreciate hearing these as I do chores. I used to read SCPs all night but I'm a mother. I don't get time to sit and read as much anymore. So thank you for keeping at it.
Bugsy can be contained by letting the knowledge die with the facility personnel. So long as fewer and fewer people know the truth, thcloser to extermination bugsy comes.
Not a fan of Sundays but knowing I get one of these makes them so much better. Thanks man
So… Bugsy is Fear itself incarnate then. The more people perceive it as a threat, the more threatening it gets. And you should never underestimate the power of terrified people in large quantities.

My sunday evening fix. Thank you Volgun!
I swear that image reminded me of Andy Merrill at first, and then I imagine it's just him holding a Brak doll.
Reading "...we are already recruiting plenty of mentally challenged individuals for keter work.", would be worrying if I didn't already know the Foundation.
And I don't know which part of that is more harrowing.
I mean at least they work on "Bugsy" its not like there d class being thrown into a grinder, they can actually keep things under control, Mikey also seems somewhat aware of his role.
Right lmao? Out of context that line is hilarious. The world would be screwed!

@@johnjohnjohnson7720 I meant what I said!
@@OuterRimPride You want the destruction of everything by flesh bear? Why? To prove that the GOC is wrong? That's the only possible reason I can think of.
Placing it in an orbital containment only means that someone has the potential to accidentally encounter it some time in the future. Sinking it into the ocean might limit the potential for it to be found given how much harder it is to explore and map the ocean but the same problem still exists. My money would be on the ocean since it's at least visually much more limiting and response to the situation is likely faster.

Hell yeah new volgun video it’s gonna be a good day
Bruh, when it said amnestics aren’t sufficient to eliminate awareness o.o
You always deliver on these man.
I was expecting the diversion tactic to continue, ie layer three it's not the bear but the location in which they're being kept that needs to be used as a containment chamber to keep it from becoming self aware and wreck havoc or something, so the foundation just made up something to put in there and a careful but cheap procedure to keep the chamber busy basically.
The thing about this SCP is that theoretically, to stop the necessary execution of 80% of the knowing population that are important, they could expose the document to 100s or 1000s of D-class or maximum security prisoner personnel before sustaining a similar bombardment on the facility. Other than the ethics comity being involved, I imagine that the 0-5 council would immediately have this method at their disposal should a situation run amiss.
Great work as always Mr. Volgun, you really sold the narrator’s emotion well when describing the more fucked up parts of this document.
