    It's possible to catch a good box of fish even when the bite is tough. Join LAFB Elite and I'll show you the tools, knowledge, tackle and equipment you need to know (and how to use) in order to consistently catch speckled trout and redfish on your fishing trips: bit.ly/2PlmSwZ

    Heading to Lake Pontchartrain for the first time ever this Sunday. I have low expectations but pretty pumped up. Plan is to launch in Slidell and fish the north end of the trestles and Hwy 11 and possibly the north end grass beds. I’ll have both my sons with me, so after fishing do you have any really good hole in the wall restaurant recommendations?I’m from Lafayette area so I’m very unfamiliar with the area. Bye the way, I really appreciate your videos and the apparent effort and attention to details you put into them. I’m learning a lot from them and they are entertaining also. Can’t really fish too often - weekends mostly - so your videos are extremely valuable to me - gives me half a chance to put somewhat of a plan together and try to make something happen. Thanks man.

      It's gonna be bumpy in the lake Sunday, I'm not sure if you looked at the wind forecast or not. Maybe somewhere protected from the wind would be a good idea?
      As for restaurants....dude, you're talking to the guy who eats powerbars and vienna sausages. lol
      I'm not much of a foodie and I have zero recommendations. lol I would try Yelp or Google since people write lots of reviews there.
      Good luck Sunday, and thanks for watching.

      @@LAFishBlog Well sir, you were correct about it being “bumpy”. Lol
      I went out of stubbornness because it seems that every weekend - the wind is too strong. It was definitely too strong. Really enjoy your videos and I’m learning a lot - keep ‘em coming.

    Great vid, nice Flounders. Glad to see the Flounder making a comeback. We've caught 4 or 5 in the last 18 months out there. First Flounder we've landed in about 10 years.

    Trolling motor battery problems? Sounds like a tackle Tuesday episode... my i pilot was slowing down too, thought it was the batteries, but after replacing them it still seems weaker than before. Trolling motor maintenance... T/T please? lol

      Thank you! lol Catching twelve specks is a blessing and a great thing, but it hurt leaving the water with "only" 12.
      I guess this is what keeps us all coming back.

    Hey Devin! Why do speckled trout still hang around Lake Pontchartrain during this time? I thought they go farther out towards the beaches to spawn.

    • @dixie3087
      @dixie3087 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pretty sure we catch them there as they are leaving lake p. Only using the trestles like a truck stop. Particularly the legal fish

    • @LAFishBlog
      @LAFishBlog  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, they're leaving Lake P, or have left. Trust me, you're not going to find a bunch of speckled trout in Lake P right now.

      @@LAFishBlog I did not want to read all that overload info and still don’t know the simple answer I requested. I recently bought first a ML fast 7’ Avid x spinner and a avid c baitcaster med fast 7’. The baitcaster broke 17” down lifting a 2.6 bass up on shore. I replaced it with a falcon 7’ heavy moderate Expert. I have a bunch of rods and reels maybe 30 or so, thanks for the videos. I do not like to read .

      @@garybarrere7552 This right here is why - one day - I will stop answering TH-cam comments.
      Duderino, I've spent the last ten years creating a MASSIVE resource for Louisiana's inshore anglers. Tons of video, articles, guides, how-to's, etc.
      No, not everything is in the perfect format for every individual but is as near-perfect as it could be because I am a stickler for detail and exactness, sometimes to a fault.
      I'm sorry you don't like reading, but you'd probably be a lot better off if you made the effort (sort of like what I've done for you) not just for your fishing endeavors but...you know...life in general.
      And it's not like that guide is a wall of text like this comment. It's formatted with headlines and pictures. *It's literally as easy as scrolling to the part that says "Casting Rods".*
      That and there's a TON of context in there you'd probably like to know and I'm making that very safe assumption because I've been doing this for a long time now.
      Could I regurgitate all that information here? Sure. *But I'd just be writing the same guide all over again and it'd be besides the point because you don't like reading in the first place.*
      I take time to answer comments because I've found that people (usually) are worth it and will continue to do so for the time being.

      @@garybarrere7552 I've heard of others having problems with St. Croix rods snapping. I have an Avid X 6'6" medium fast I use for the trestles, and very much like it. However, prior to buying a St. Croix rod I suggest you secure a reel on it and check for alignment. I've had two that were out of alignment, one to a ridiculous extent. I'm not at all impressed with St. Croix's quality control.

    Do you have a video on all the camera equipment you use, what kind of camera mounting pole you use in the boat and which video editor you use?

    • @LAFishBlog
      @LAFishBlog  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately I don't. Teaching cameras and editing is out of my league. I barely know enough to get by. lol FWIW, I edit with FCPX.
      The only good video advice I can give is this: filming and editing is a self-starter kinda thing.
      Also, Google is your friend.
      Finally, you should watch Casey Neistat's guide to filmmaking:

      Nice video! We average about 6’ tides here in Charleston SC. I would love to fish down there for a week just so I wouldn’t t have to fight the current so much. But if it’s hardly
      moving and like four hours of “low tide” type non existent current- I guess I should be careful of what I wish for. Glad I found your channel.
