I’ve played this a ton and honestly I love it; I found the boss-rush style gameplay really challenging and engaging too, I found some of the difficulty kinda uneven as some bosses I found very simple while others were not, but I love this game it’s like an operatic symphony of creativity, inspiration, and a unique baroque style with such a nice sense of humor too
Love that you're covering this series .. But that title... Ya broke my heart as I thought you were announcing that there was to be a new Cho Aniki title in the works.
@@VideoGameEsotericaI saw that story on Gematsu and I’m all for it and will probably pick it up🤪I’ve never played this one but now I want to as it looks one of the better ones.
This game really surprised me I've always passed on it until I decided to try it out on Mister over a year ago Booted the game up and was blown away at how fun the game was Music graphics and gameplay were really good If I still had my PC Engine I'd have added this one into the collection for sure!
Hell yeah! Cho Aniki rules. I've mainly only played the ps1 game Cho Aniki: Kyuukyoku Muteki Ginga Saikyou Otoko. Which is so damn insane. The use of digitized sprites really elevates the weird factor in that one.
this is one of those pce games that feels like it's barely held together with string and glue they had to do some serious trickery with background effects it's really the music that pushes it to another level. i think the ost even charted and became famous in japan?
I was just playing the Saturn game last night. I had the PS2 game but since it's a CD game and my PS2 has decided it won't read any Blue CD that isn't Ridge Racer V it's in the sell pile. There's a collection coming out for Swtich soon, I'm all over it because real men play Cho Aniki.
I’d play this one over the 32-bit disaster any day. At least the two PC Engine games didn’t use real people for sprites. It makes me sick looking at that game.
I loved playing it but before one boss fight there is such harsh and crunchy disc access that I thought it would destroy my Rom-Rom drive. I wonder if anyone else has the same issue
@@VideoGameEsoterica exactly, like when needing new brake pads on the car... It only ever happened in that one spot in one game but it's probably time to do something involving maintenance after more than 35 years! I'll give it a try!
Chou Aniki... Certainly a very weird game. Chou aniki which means "big bro". In the beginning, this game starts as a Joke by the developers with a low-budget game on PlayStation but ends up turning into a big success in Japan. The further version ends up to become a soft game due to controversies on the first version without losing his humor. Unfortunately, this game never came out of Japan due to its nature, for PlayStation of course.

It’s a super fun pivot on the games and I’m into it
Good game. The soundtrack and the goofy enemies are definitely the highlights. Solid B-tier shmup like you said.
Solid B tier shmup but A tier due to weird charm

No but a collection is coming and that’s always the first step
@@VideoGameEsoterica This is true. Hoping you're having a good day.
Always having fun!

I’ll def buy it even if I own both games just on the off chance it does well and someone decides to make a new one
great video. I've always wanted to add one of the cho aniki games to my collection. This one has really nice graphics as well.
Ai Cho Aniki is my personal fav

People avoid it because of the weird and they totally miss out
Cho Aniki by beloved.
Everyone’s fav game of all time

Gotta start at the beginnings
This game was literally the only one in the series that was the best one.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the OST did better than the game

Hence the title cause the collection. Mail me that PS2 Cho Aniki 😉
I wish there was more weapon variety. Btw the game is very weird and fun.
It’s got limited weapons but maximum weird
The story is Idaten and Benten frees Adon and Samson to fight against Bodybuild.
Happens to me weekly
Any chance you'll do a ngpc open fpga analogue pocket setup video? I can't seem to get it to work, not sure what I'm missing. Appreciate any help.
There is not currently a Color OpenFPGA core, just the OG pocket
@@VideoGameEsoterica ah, that makes sense. I saw the readme and it indicated neo geopocket color but I guess I should have read the Dev notes. Thanks!
No worries. Can get confusing!

Sick? That’s kind of harsh. I find it all amusing
So unfamiliar with the PC Engine. Definitely going to fire this one up. The pixel art is superb.
Enjoy it :) it’s an awesome and weird game
I loved playing it but before one boss fight there is such harsh and crunchy disc access that I thought it would destroy my Rom-Rom drive. I wonder if anyone else has the same issue
Like actual crunching? In the drive? Sounds like it’s time to open it up and lubricate the rails

Def just seeking far out or in on the cd and you are at the end of the rail. Time for white lithium grease!

Yes no real surprise this never made it to North America
I have so many things to say about this game, always have, but TH-cam won't allow it.
Haha I see
