Well, you certainly show a good piece of history on your channel. And this one has some interesting facts so grab your popcorn cause there's a lot and I don't know if I can cover it all. XD - Parodius was an idea of everything shoot-em-up programmer in one single game. he rarely got an official release due to a programmer disagreement, but it was finally accepted at the end. - Each character comes from a different Konami franchise excluding the octopus is a part of the Parodius franchise. - The NES version as a censored version of the Walking Girl boss. The NES the girl is completely dressed. - The music background was a huge pain in the butt to the Konami crew due to licensing. Many of these pieces of music are pure classics. - After re-releasing on the most recent hardware some music was removed due to licensing expired. - The success of Parodius was so great that they made many ports for many consoles but Sega Genesis/Megadrive didn't receive one. - According to some sources the power-up (speaker) some word may contain some swear words. - The American version of the arcade was changed. - Many people didn't find an interesting easter egg, but I strangely found it. In part 2 of the Parodius arcade, you can find the body of the first boss (the pirate Pinguin) from Parodius 1 in the middle of stage 2. Did you find it? XD Each version chronologically. - Parodius Da! Shinwa kara Owarai e - Gokujyou Parodius! Kako no Eikou o Motomete - Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius - Sexy Parodius - Otodemius (Spinoff)
the pce version of this is really incredible and the audio shows just how powerful wavetable can be, also the snes versions audio is impressive as well. though to this day im still amazed at the ko53248 PCM on the arcade which unlike other arcade pcm chips of the time could use up to 2MB. no Bs ran the game with only PCM and there's almost nothing from the FM and the audio in the rom is larger than the game data which makes the console audio that much more impressive. they never madea genesis port but if you wanna hear what the music would have sounded i made 2 remixes ones with accuracy like 8 channels the others no limits with 15 channels It's the Boss! - Parodius Da!: SEGA GENESIS Accuracy cover by Steve Cusic It's the Boss! - Parodius Da!: SEGA GENESIS no limit cover by Steve Cusic
I love the whole Gradius/Salamander/Parodius series, probably my favourite of all time. This is the second game in the series, after the MSX original. All of the many ports are great, even the NES and Game Boy versions.
The Parodius games are always guaranteed to put a smile on your face, just pure silly fun😁Was it Digital Eclipse or somebody like that who did the recent Contra and Castlevania collections? A Parodius pack please, and you can throw in the TwinBee games to add value🤘🏻
parodius is a series I'm quite fond of! Jikkyou Oshaberi is probably my all time favorite, but shout-out to the original that started it all! such a bizarre shmup you never know what you'll see next! Might have to track down Gokujo Parodius Deluxe Pack on Saturn.
I really wanted to love the Saturn port but was disappointed with the lack of semi-auto option. Why? also the lack of slowdown in the bubble stage makes it far harder than its arcade counterpart.

Yes the entire franchise and extended franchise are all awesome games

The Parodius series are criminally underrated

I like sexy parodious on sega Saturn
Another classic in the franchise

Good timing!

I’d buy that for a dollar
@@VideoGameEsoterica Haha definitely. And a cool Smash TV/Robocop quote to boot🤘🏻
Glad you knew where it was from haha
@@VideoGameEsoterica Both the game and movie are amongst my faves🤪
I wonder if any of the staff who left Konami to form Treasure worked on this game. Using classical holiday music was also part of Dynamite Headdy.
Finding out who worked on what in this era can be very hard

Def a good Saturn game to have. Tons of fun
I have both the Saturn version and Famicom version.
I may need the Super Famicom version too.
I don't have a PC engine but that can always change
I second that VGE. What a game to play for it's time. WOW! 8^)
Anthony..
A 90s classic
Find it hard to believe this was where Fairy Tail’s *”WOW!”* came from.
Some may even say…wow? Lol
@@VideoGameEsoterica Yup.

@@VideoGameEsoterica 💯 agree with you brotha

What’s the Saturn version being to the table vs the Sharp port?
Less round media
@@VideoGameEsoterica love me some round media.

@@VideoGameEsoterica don’t know wether to laugh or cry on that comment! 😂

I don't know wat to think anymore... i never knew VGE was a CHEATER!!! lol jk
@QbertKraft lol it’s for time efficiency

Not an easy task

Yes a lot of times slowdown was intentional and helped the player
