    Mother made these when I was growing up. She used a fork on the edges before she painted with butter. She made powder sugar frosting and put it on after they were baked. Yum.

      Hi Friend. This video was made years ago, when I was first starting this channel. You can hear that I don't speak as loudly and comfortably as I do in my videos of today. I did eventually remake this video. I answered some of the questions that people had from the first video. It is a simple recipe, and it comes out yummy. Thank you for sharing your sweet memory.

    When you choose to freeze some of these be sure to wrap them in plastic wrap before you wrap them in aluminum. The clear wrap makes contact with the product rather than having air trapped by the aluminum, so you avoid those ugly patches of freezer burn.

    Peaches are good this way also. I'm 72 and my grandmother used to make these before there was ever a Hardee's or Burger King. She made her own pie crust dough and baked them. I made them using blueberries and cherry pie filling.

    My mother made thes when I was a child and I am 65 years old. She would season the apples with butter, cinnamon and sugar and fry the pies. I still make them and they are delicious. I season my biscuits with cinnamon and sprinkle with sugar when they come out of the grease. I guess baking and eliminating the extra sugar is healthier, but they sure taste good.

    Looks tasty. I made empanadas one time. My wife said they were great. She said she likes the crust because it wasn't like pie dough. I never did find the recipe so I finally made biscuit dough and made them. She said it was good. So I use biscuit dough to make them and do some dessert like this. I use my mom's recipe for biscuit dough because it makes me think of her since she is gone. The store bought ones are a good way to go when you need to save time. Either way do some as meat pies and some as fruit for a complete meal. If you aren't looking for healthy, fry them.

      Sherry Kearns the pineapple filling was a simple recipe. Sadly was never written down so one day I just did hat I saw Grandmother do just throwing it all together...CAN OF CRUSHED PINEAPPLE, SCOOP OF SUGAR, PINCH OF SALT, SEEMED LIKE A SPOONFUL OF CORNSTARCH, COOKED TILL IT BUBBLED, COUPLE OF TABLESPOONS OF BUTTER, LITTLE VANILLA...AND....(Drumroll)...HANDFUL OF CHOPPED PECANS! Pecans went in every desert, Grandmother had a massive pecan tree in the backyard that supplied her pantry! There was always a drawing to see who got Grandmothers first pie out of the skillet. That was the only fair way to keep the fam from storming the kitchen. She used to make pineapple fried pies after church on a Sunday night. That an her homemade lemon ice cream in the summertime was amazing. Sorry the recipe was so imprecise but that’s the way grandmother baked, handful of this and that....but the ingredients were always the same...FYI, it’s not the same without the pecans....oh and her name was Irene Isabel. Beautiful lady, she really was gorgeous

      I need to start baking snacks, again, like the good ol' days. Yours are a much quicker version, but the same principle. Baking the apples, without stewing them, works good, too. The natural fruit juices carmelize and taste good with cinnamon. Blackberries made for a delicious one, too.

    In Italy they make a dough and roll out circles - then fill them with tomato, mozzarella and basil, then fry them. They are called (in my region of Puglia) panzerotti!

    • @RosieCooks
      @RosieCooks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Eliza, This is just an easy short cut way to make a tasty apple pie dessert. Using a dough and filling it up with fruit or meat is very common to many cultures. Upon talking to many of my TH-cam friends, I have learned that every culture has a different version. Sometimes they are called Runza or Pasty. I know that many Italian restaurants will serve Calzones. Attached is a meat pie that I made. It seems to remind many people of the dough filled goodies from their country.
