Both players seem like good picks. The pitcher was taken above his rank. He was picked at 50 but ranked at 86. So they thought highly of this kid. If we have him starting, he has Randy Johnson size. If he turns out to be another Tanner Houck, we all will be very happy. The draft resumes today rounds 3-10. Keep up the good work Corbin.
Although I wanted a pitcher in the first round I was pretty pleased the way they snagged Montgomery when he fell to them at # 12. He should have been selected far earlier than the 12th pick. There is a lot of things to like about him. I have seen him hit homers from both sides of the plate. Amazing! Cannon arm terrific. I also like the pitcher they picked up in the second round. Tolle will work out just fine. Looks huge and durable !!! They did grab another pitcher in the third round as well. Brandon Neely from Florida was that pick. He is primarily a reliever from what I read with a lot of gas on the fastball. Then they grabbed another outfielder Zach Ehrhard from Oklahoma. Draft is going pretty well.
Yeah, absolutely! I study the details. One thing I loved.. in his highlight video.. playing in rightfield.. he didn't rush fielding the baseball.. before squaring up and throwing a dart to homeplate that never touched the ground! That is an excellent fundamental approach to playing baseball.
I love the Montgomery pick, he’s a stud saw him on the cape for two years in a row, kid can rake and has a rocket arm. Great build as well. As for the kid from TCU I don’t know much about but I know he was a transfer from WS.
Greatvpicks!! Congratulations Breslow and others in the organization for a great job so far. Looking forward to seeing who they select going forward towards the future of 😊 😊 😊 Have a great day Corbin!! Thank you for the heads up on these two pickups. See Ya'll on the flip side!!
Love these picks! Montgomery was a flat out steal! Who would have thought a broken ankle would turn out to be a blessing! This put him right in the Sox lap.
I absolutely loved these draft picks feel really good about them since there is no game Wednesday Corbin are you doing an all star game stream tomorrow?
Really disappointed that they didn’t pick Ryan Prager at 50. A pitcher with legit plus plus command of all pitches and throws funky but still decently hard. Fits what the Sox’s MLB staff is and would be a shoe in for a role at the bigs.
When you have the opportunity to take someone sho is so highly ranked in a spot where you aren’t you have to do it. They got a pitcher in the 2nd round and they have a whole lot of rounds left.
@@redseatradio I suppose so, but I just hope the Red Sox know what they’re doing with this kid. It looks like it will pay off in the long run but it wasn’t the pick I was expecting
One of your best video! Gag gag cough! Montgomery will remind older RS fans of Dwight Evan's with his cannon arm+power. Dewey was slower+had slightly less power, but Corbin the Youngster never saw Dewey's arm. Opponents didn't changelle Dewey's arm. His outfield assists numbers weren't awesome given his career length. Other team's base coaches just didn't want to chance it.
Weren’t they gifted a stud with that first pick? Wow! I heard them use Carlos Beltran as a comparison. That’s a huge compliment! Let’s hope he never has any trouble from the ankle injury, and his development is like Teel’s. Also, I hope they keep his switch hitting abilities going. I know they want to focus on the stronger side, but when was the last switch hitter super star? Exciting, exciting times right now! Let’s Go BoSox!! Take care, Corbin!
1st: Hands/barrel get through the zone quickly, but chase rate = pitch recognition. So... it will get interesting in AAA ball and higher. 2nd: Tolle will need a changeup & it better have depth. Command a must.
I was actually hoping the Red Sox would get the best 3B of this draft and pitching. Use Yoshida to get another arm and put Devers at DH. Maybe this happens at trade deadline? More likely they have to throw in a prospect. As long as it isn’t one of our top five I would be on board. I don’t think the Red Sox have enough pitching to challenge the Phillies, who I pick to win it all. I did see that Baltimore did get stronger in this draft. They got a couple Univ. of Virginia prospects, who I’ve watched along with this program for quite some time. Funny how things work out. And how cyclical things can become. Imagine the Red Sox getting a stocked farm system and needing another Dave Dombrowski to get the team over the top! He is doing his magic for Philadelphia now. And you know that guy will get whatever that team needs this month.
I've been checking out several fake drafts, including MLB and saw that Montgomery was ranked, #4, #5 and #8, he fell to us at #12 because of a fractured ankle. He should be great next year. As you stated, unlikely to play this year. Peyton Tolle was ranked #86 by MLB and we took him at #50, so it might've been a reach. Still, he's a big LHP with a cool nickname, "Pay Toll". Average velocity, but if he hides his pitches well and picks his spots, then he could be intimidating. Great job, Corbin. Keep it coming!
I'm excited to see the kid that the Sox picked in the 8th round, but I'm guessing that he was there only because he's expected to be hard to sign. Hopefully, they can get that done and we can add another pitching prospect with solid potential.
These definitely look like 2 great picks with all the outfield prospects I wonder if they might trade a good one for pitching I wouldn't be opposed to that happening!
Power differences from LHH to RHH aren't unheard of either. It will be interesting to see what the Sox PD folks think. Is he playing short season this year?
I think Braden Montgomery is gonna be great. But Corbin where do you think he will fit into the Red Sox outfield in a few years? We have a pretty crowded Outfield. Of course things can change until he gets called up the MLB
7 of their first 10 picks have been pitchers. There is a whole video about it on the channel. They aren’t passing on pitching in fact they are focusing on it. Braden is way too good of a prospect to just simply pass up on
I wonder if Montgomery will remain a Switch Hitter? I heard not to good as a RH hitter. It happened to Cedric Mullins of the Orioles and remember Shane Victorino he too decided to strictly be a right handed hitter in 2013.
Obv. 1st round pitcher would be nice but Montgomery was too good of a steal to pass up. Arguably should’ve been grabbed in the first five. Will be super interesting to see how the second round guy develops. That size is no joke.
Between the MLB team and the top prospects, the Sox have 2-3 more lefties with high potential than they can use. I figure somebody(s) will be traded for pitching within the next year.
The only reason why Brayden fell was because of the ankle so while I like the pick especially if he can be success from Right side of the plate which we desperately need the only reason why he fell to us was because of injury so he just dropped to them just plain luck by them As far as the pitcher glad to see they drafted an arm and a college one too but every top analyst I trust feel he will not be a starter but the best RP in their history was a converted starter in Papelbon and some other great bullpen arms they once had like Daniel Bard and Andrew Miller were college starters who just didn’t have the secondary stuff just like Tole
If the Sox' minor league coaching staff can get him to throw his sweeper and his fastball for strikes.. his baseball career might be coming out of the bullpen.
Doesn't matter they will be in Redsox organization a few years and sort of just fade away. Then they'll get traded and start lighting it up somewhere else. Always happens. Just look at Chris Sale. This crap happens to Boston all the time
I completely agree with your statement, but Anthony+Montgomery are still 2 years away! Who replaces Abreu in the meantime? Refsynder is a good option against lefties. But then who? They would have to trade for Abreu's replacement diminishing their gained trade for Abreu. Highly unlikely with Henry. Maybe not Breslow ? Who knows. Interesting idea! Maybe Refsynder instead?
@@erikjager4704I mean to be honest, Abreu is a proven hitter. And he’s good in the OF so why trade him. Especially because Anothny and Montgomery still have risks of not panning out.
Wow, I can’t wait till 2029. Sorry this is so far away. I’m more interested in seeing guys come up already. I’d rather watch Young players and old veterans. Let’s talk about the ones that should be up this year or next year waiting five years for anybody.

Yeah he was a beast in the CCL
I can get used to this trend Mayor at #4 when he was expected #1, Teel at #14 when ranked as high as a top #5, and now Montgomery at #12
Yeah man pray this trend continues lol

Absolutely great picks.
was really looking forward to watch this video that i took my lunch later until i saw the notification:)
Means a lot man thank you! Hopefully you enjoyed it!
Montgomery’s lefty side swing, at certain times, reminds me of Griffey’s swing
I don't see it. Griffey was more upright and fluid.
He could be the next Eddie Murray. Let him switch hit.

Something tells me Andrew Bailey can get Tolle up to an acceptable change-up.
Pedro Martinez is another former player who can equally help Tolle develop an effective change up ...
Yeah he’s been doing it all season long and the Sox as an organization have been doing it they clearly have faith so do i
Take the best player available. Then, the players battle it out.. for who stays and who moves on to another organization.
Have we picked up a switch hitting James Edward Rice , it could be true!

Not too good is a bit of an understatement it’s a plus 1.000 OPS from both sides

Not that I want to see any of our prospects go but we have what it takes to acquire MLB talent to help us down the stretch this season
