On a positive note, the Sox did snag a LHP pitcher from the Marlins system that has put up remarkable numbers in the lower minors named Manuel Medina in the minor league phase of Rule Five. 5-1 with 1.48 ERA. The knock on him is that he's 5'10 and 140lbs. A stick figure. Check out his minor league numbers. They are eye-opening.
I mean, he was a 22 y/o in the complex league and pitching exclusively out of the pen. His K rates are great, but he's been less remarkable in his forays to A ball and he's still old for his level. I'm not saying he's bad: just that he has a ton still to prove.
You are in a much better mood today Corbin! Kudos to the Sox for making a tough move. So no sarcasm from me today. Hopefully this helps others to consider coming to Boston. Like Teoscar and Tanner Scott. Looking forward to more good reports from you!
Facts. If we get rid of Casas and don’t get any other first basemen we’re either going to have to call a 1B up, move someone off the bench, or move someone over, none of which I’m particularly excited about
I think after having to trade away Teel this is a good move. If the Red Sox grab another catcher along the way he's a great depth piece as well and if not he has skills and the bat can be worked on with coaching.
The Red Sox needed to add him because he was on the Yankees 40 man roster. In Catching the Red Sox needed a good defensive catcher. The Red Sox have a lot of pitchers in Low A and High A that could have jumped him this year. So Cruz was expendable. All players on the 40 man go to Spring training. The big 3 will be invited and any minor leaguers signed over the winter. I also think the Red Sox will do more with catching. I would not be surprised if Connor Wong is eventually traded.
Sox are looking at Yates, Scott in free agency still while also in on a trade for Devin Williams. I’d rather they sign another reliever if they’re going to add another high leverage arm. Scott is dope. But Yates was automatic last year.
I don't think that really means anything. I think they are going to focus on ways to spend outside of the organization before looking at extensions that is what most of MLB does.
This trade helps add a MUCH needed young catcher after trading Teel in the Crochet deal. I'm shocked, honestly, that the Yankees would help us out after our trade last night, but I'll take it!
I saw the Pirates made Jared Jones and Mitch Keller available. I think we could probably get Jones without giving up anything significant. Wanted to be part of the livestream last night but I got pneumonia it sucks.
I think they needed a defensive catcher and he can do very well. Didn't give up a huge amount, and they are still alive for Sasaki. Also did you see John Morosi's report that Sox and Seattle talking trade for one of the pitchers? Not sure about who it is or who would go, but Casas keeps coming up
Corbin, this guy has been in the Yankees system for nine years and never started until last year at AAA. I have him ranked far below Hickey (#40) and Gasper (#51). They gave up prospect #15 (Rodriguez) for prospect #91 (Narvaez). Breslow's head must've been spinning from the Crochet trade.
Yankees' have five minor league catchers.. nobody is replacing Wells & Tavino.. anytime soon. So, you kick the tires on Narvarious. Maybe a change in organizations will spark something offensively.. but, he probably reaches the majors on his defense.
Soxprospects head scouting Ian Cundall has scouted elmer rodgriguez cruz quite a bit and seen him pitch in person this year multiple times...He's pretty direct about how Elmers stuff isn't nearly as good as his numbers show as far as what the ball is doing ...He's getting guys out at the lower level of A with eeehhh stuff but isn';t missing hard contact with his fastball in higher A...Cundall doesn't feel that he's going to get hitters out well at the mlb level...I think this is a great trade if Narvaez ends up developing into a legit mlb level backup catcher....And I had hopes for Elmer too..
Breslow is starting to show his potential as GM. I pray he continues the good work to improve our Major while hopefully not full selling our farm. Let's go 2025!
Hey Corbin. NIce get together last evening! Yes, I saw this other trade. Looks like his minor league stats were decent. Ya never never know. Could be a good one. Still waiting on Corbin Burnes. Very curious on where that goes.
Why would the Yankees trade away a catcher (premium position) who has big upside? It remains to be seen like most trades but I don't think this will amount to anything.
GREAT PITCHING IS EXPENSIVE NOWADAYS...! A trade this time for the White Sox, NO WAY GETTING SHORT CHANGED! Teel made the trade for the White Sox... Red Sox getting a true number 1 to lead their staff and only 25 years old!!! At 6'6 230, a left handed flame thrower with a 100mph Fastball, the RedSox got the Best Pitcher Avaliable this winter!!!
Nobody mentions the younger brother of the player they refer to as the password: Jhostynxon Garcia. If Johanfran Garcia hadn't gotten hurt in 2024, he would have been mentioned in the top five or six of the prospects list. He could be better than Teel. He is 20 years old and about 2 to 3 years away
Corbin, what’s the kid’s name who plays catcher in either single or double A, his brother also played in Portland. Is he still a couple years away from help the Sox at catcher?
What is the deal with Quinn priester.. i don’t see anyone including him within the projected rotation and I thought he was mlb ready with a lot of upside…
we still need a catcher for the future. unless wong has a legitimate defensive breakout year he aint the answer. we might have to look inti the draft…again to get a future catcher bc eventually we do need that. damn ERC was actually pretty decent. inhad high hopes for him and hes puerto rican😭 oh well
Okay… no trades! Do not give up the big three away! Just fucking sign Burns! Or if you don’t want Burns for some reason then just go after a shut down closer like Tanner Scott! We need to use the money, please Lord don’t trade Mayer, Campbell, or Anthony.
to be honest, I’m completely disgusted. They were willing to spend over 700 million for One Soto and All. They have spent this off-season is what $11 million for Chapman.? there shouldn’t be a wait. They should be going out and getting Burns and Santander or Hernandez immediately.. they need bullpen help Rogers is available and he has lights out and they need a lights out reliever . I sometimes thank the people running these MLB teams don’t know their ass from their elbow. It seems so plain and simple sometimes yet they make everything drawn out and complicated and never get anything done.
There's a reason why the Red Sox had to throw in $250K in bonus pool to acquire a 26 year-old catching "prospect". I don't think this Elmer kid has much of a future in the bigs. He's got a historically big FIP by the looks of it and was probably just lucky for the success he had. Good depth piece for the Yankees I guess.
@@redseatradio I agree with you. Solid depth piece for Boston in one of their now weaker positions. Good to stock up on backup catcher options because ya just might find a gem out there.
This was a headscratcher. Narvaez is a career MiLB backup catcher that can't hit and was about to be DFA'd off the Yankees 40-man roster and the Sox got their pockets picked again having to give up one of their top pitching prospects (Rodriguez). I also tip my cap to the due diligence of the WS for grabbing four blue-chippers that could possibly start in the big leagues in 2024 and gutting the farm for Crochet. Now I hear Burnes is signing with the Yankees. Boston should be playoff bound in 2025, but it will be NY vs LA again in the World Series.
@@redseatradio As I was replying, I saw a TH-cam headline about Burnes. I didn't watch the video. I did notice that it was posted five days ago. Probably bait click.
@@spacelion4763 Space Lion, sure we kept the top three, but still gave up four Top Ten prospects. Plus, a top pitching prospect #15 for a backup minor league catcher to the damn Yankees. I can forget all that if we land Burnes or Sasaki this winter.
Yea don't mind getting crochet but thought the should go infielder or outfielder instead of dealing from a position of not enough talent catching. I just wonder what would happen if Wong went down. Also when was the last time sox developed a catcher of their own rather then trading for one
After decades of the Red Sox Yankee rivalry it is interesting to see how comfortable Breslow is doing trades with the Yankees. If the Dominican is the cradle of short stops, Nicaragua is the land of catchers. Or it seems so to me. I would not be surprised if the Sox made another move at catcher (even bringing back Christian Vazquez for one year). Then this kid can develop in Worcester before being thrown into it.
I miss the days when Corbin had fewer subscribers. 337 comments last video and 500 watchers last night live stream. I remember when a phone booth could hold all Corbin's subscribers. Trade David Hamilton for an another Connor Wong type. Or sign James McCann deal on a cheap one year deal. The RS need another catching option. The lose of the Chase Meidroth will hurt. Montgomery was never seen as a real RS proscept, but theirbest available trade chip. Losing Valdez+Teel+Montgomery was a quiet leftie purge.
Out of all the players there is no way Meidroth is the one that hurt the most especially with Campbell and Mayer ahead of him. But you’re right everyone stop subscribing I don’t deserve it
Corbin, they traded the best catching prospect in baseball. Yet you were happy with glee acting like they stole Crochet. Your analysis was very poor on that one
I think the trade was good. We have a lot of prospects so why not use some to get already established players? Garret is a 25 year old who has potential to be even better. He was 1st in k%, 4th in swing% 1st in Whiff% and 7th in K’s and we didn’t have to give up Campbell, Wilyer, or Crawford. We also js traded for a C who has decent potential

I think after having to trade away Teel this is a good move. If the Red Sox grab another catcher along the way he's a great depth piece as well and if not he has skills and the bat can be worked on with coaching.
Yeah I think it could end up being really solid
True. If I’m guessing, I think this trade was an attempt to fill the hole Teel’s trade left
Another great one brother...good insight
I love the Trade as well
Thanks Corbin... Good move for needed defensive type catcher.
Thanks for keeping us in the know.
Red Sox need to get Tanner Scott,Teoscar Hernandez and get Ether Bryce Miller or Logan Gilbert from the mariners
Need too? I think there are a lot of avenues but that would be nice
The Mariners won’t trade either Miller or Gilbert
I don't wany anymore big trades. Pay Burnes and we are on our way.
I agree, except for the only Seattle pitcher they’re going to get is maybe Castillo
It's a good move we needed a backup for sure and this kid looks like he can be improved.

No!
Wong is the starter. Narvaez IS the backup. What are you talking about?
