I always enjoyed the 60's "Batman" series. Great theme composed by Neal Hefti and great film score for the '66 film composed and conducted by Nelson Riddle.
You are correct. Whenever there is a “who is the greatest Batman” poll -- it would be so much easier if everyone would just acknowledge that we are right. The other obvious answer to a poll question - “what is the greatest tv or movie vehicle of all time?” The answer is The Tv Batmobile. Set in stone. Can never be changed. Besides - I like being right.
Very nice voice. He played his lines perfectly in the tv show Batman. If they would have given him dramatic scripts, he would have done a great job with that also
When "Batman" was on, that meant I was in front of the T.V. I was 9 years old when it premiered in 1966...The Hottest Show on television, for about a year. It lasted until 1967, but the years were somehow longer back then.I did have a genuine yellow "Bat Belt" aka utility belt. When I put it on and climbed on my bike with the Banana Seat and high rise handle bars, I WAS Batman!
Just for clarification in case anybody else should ask: Adam voiced Batman for Filmation in the 1970s and for 2 seasons (1984 and 1985) during the last 2 seasons of Hanna-Barbera's Super Friends series. Olan Soule voiced Batman for Filmation in the late '60s and he resumed the role at the start of Hanna-Barbera's Super Friends in 1973. Olan remained the voice of Batman on all the Super Friends cartoons until 1983. The voice of Robin on all the animated cartoons from the late 1960s to the mid 1980s (except for the Filmation series in the mid '70s) happened to be Casey Kasem.
When Adam took over the Batman role on "SuperFriends," Olan was reassigned to the role of Professor Martin Stein, one half of the superhero called Firestorm.
Living in Canada 2 cities away from Niagara Falls, what a thrill for a small town boy, I still recall watching this as a 6 year old and then my father had a co-worker and his wife show up at our home. My older sister and I were sent to bed that is the way it was back then, years later I stood next to The Hollywood Palace taking a photo of The Capital Records building didn't know it was The Hollywood Palace, if I did ,I would have looked closer. At school I played Batman with The Tony Defranco
I saw an episode of Hollywood Palace where he came in as Adam West at the end he said he had to leave since the Batmobile was double parked. I never knew he'd done this one too.
"BATMAN" the original ABC/Twentieth Century Fox TV series, more or less, saved ABC-TV in 1966,as well as becoming such an iconic background of the 1960s,which is evident in this clip from "THE HOLLYWOOD PALACE"-a remarkable memory of a once great time in TV history, that will never be repeated!
who knew that Adam was such a great crooner? why didn't they use these talents of his in Batman. He could have had his alter ego sing in a charity event.
His voice is orthodox I can tell his voice from a mile away without seeing him, when I was a child my mother used to get mad at me because I I wouldn't stop watching Batman, so she got back at me by Chris and Batman out and I cry like a baby and my dad would say no he's not he's the greatest this is real talk facts and I'm 62 today..
Shocked at how good his voice was ( the lyrics let him down a bit).......but shouldn't have been because his talking voice indicates that.....but even so, it still was really good ! Probably didn't have the drive it took to make it.For some reason, people don't generally like to see actors move into singing, though they more readily accept the opposite.
To have lived in L.A. during those years with money that is . I still recall Dean Martin and his son Dino Jr , in 16 magazine , father and son sitting down with each other both playing guitar . I thought it was so cool, I wish I was with them .
*GOOD LORD!* I saw this when it first aired! When was this? 1967? 56 years ago (or thereabout) and I *remember* Adam West coming up in the batmobile and running into the theatre. I remember as well his joke of Robin being "brave, but not that brave". I don't know the name of the song he sings, but he is credited with co-authoring with the great Harry Warren a tune called "Golden Voyage".
ABC-TV and "BATMAN" went hand in hand in 1966,as exampled in this segment of "THE HOLLYWOOD PALACE",durring the Height of the Batman craze that year! this was in the days, decades before the Disney Company brought the network, which is now a sister company to Marvel-but in the days of 1966,ABC was just such a great network to watch! now, many are wondering why the TV series has not been released on DVD,,and if that will ever happen anytime soon, since WB and Fox are still locked in a copyright war
Adam West IS The Bat-Man!!! I used to run home from school to watch that show when I was a kid back in the 60's!!! The Green Hornet was Cool also, but it was too overshadowed by Batman! That's why it was canceled after one season!!!
Kevin Ballenger Me too! I would jump off the bus and run as fast as I could to catch the start of the show... I couldn't get enough and even had my own Batman costume and the coolest Batman utility belt complete with hook and rope, bat cuffs, Etc!
If you listen closely you'll notice the voice on the sunbeam shaver commercial is the same voice that did Batman on the "superfriends" cartoons in the 70's and 80's.How ironic is that?
@jerbydan -- I believe that sketch was done on a weekly Friday night Milton Berle variety show that aired during the 1966-67 season. Also Berle appeared on a few BATMAN episodes as guest villain Louie the Lilac.
Milton Berle went on acting on Batman the 3rd year. Not a superheros but a guess villain as (I'm trying remember the name)Larry the Lilac. A monster type character who loves lilack. Hence the name
What year was this? I assume this had to be between ‘66-‘67, leaning more towards ‘66. Definitely before Milton Berle showed up in the third season as Louie the Lilac. Great performance 👏🏾. So sad he became type-casted after the show ended. He was very talented.
@MrPeterbs -Adam West did in fact step in as Batman in the last 2 versions of the Superfriends series, "The Legendary Superpowers Show" and "The Galactic Guardians". Olan Soule for these 2 shows would voice the character of Prof. Marc Stein, the dual secret identity half, of the superhero, Firestorm. The other half identitiy being Ronald Raymond.
@wahoo76- Actually Soule did the voice for the Filmation Batman series of the late 60s and then for the Batman of Hanna Barbera's 'Superfriends' in the 70s. West took over the role for the Filmation 'New Adventures Of Batman' in the late 70s. I'm not sure if Soule continued on with the role in the 80s Superfriends series or if West stepped in. I'm pretty sure he voiced the character for the 'Super Powers' cartoon of the mid 80s.
I wonder what Olan would think of electric shavers that make you look like you haven't shaved (providing just the right amount of fashionable stubble).
No hate remarks form the lady viewers? Thad lady driving remark may have drove some crazy. Personally, I believe that not ALL lady drivers are bad drivers.
Not sure about Berle as CK. On Berle's TV show Adam West(no Burt Ward)guest starred as Batman along with Van Williams as the Green Hornet & Bruce Lee as Kato.
Only decent Batman there ever was. Can dance, can sing, isn't taking himself too serious. Here is to ADAM WEST. Fuck the narcissistic hollywood rubber birds.
....I"m 51 years old...Adam West is STILL my favorite batman !!
And now it's my turn to repeat your words
Adam is the TRUE Batman
What a great piece of television history!
Adam West.....the ultimate Batman!
Adam West is just the greatest ever. :D
Amazing Singer, Actor, Most amazing Personality and such a lovely person. Nobody like him.
Bulba Paul Yeah such a sad shame he's no longer with us.
I always enjoyed the 60's "Batman" series. Great theme composed by Neal Hefti and great film score for the '66 film composed and conducted by Nelson Riddle.
Adam IS Batman, and always will be! RIP

My God. The absolute brilliance of this.
Hiz character portrayal iz flawless
Wow I never saw this before. I love you Adam West! I miss my childhood TV Hero
Very nice voice. He played his lines perfectly in the tv show Batman. If they would have given him dramatic scripts, he would have done a great job with that also
MY god????? No idea he could belt out a tune like that...🎵🎵🎵
On the episode he hosted, he did a Batman-themed song in character!
When "Batman" was on, that meant I was in front of the T.V. I was 9 years old when it premiered in 1966...The Hottest Show on television, for about a year. I was 11 when Batman premiered in January 1966.It's peak was the first part of that year. The show lasted until March 1968.
Batman and a great old time singer!! Adam West an actor of wonderfful talent!!
As quoted by Burt ward Adam he is BATMAN!!!!
Fantastic I wish i could have watched this one when it came out
0:24 - Cannot get enough of this.
This is awesome

love the filming of batman in from outdoor to hallway using beta cam in 1966! looks ahead way of time! wish they always do that!
"he's brave, milton - but not that brave"
love it

NIAGRA FALLS! SLOWLY I TURNED! STEP BY STEP, INCH BY INCH!
I saw an episode of Hollywood Palace where he came in as Adam West at the end he said he had to leave since the Batmobile was double parked. I never knew he'd done this one too.
This is the first time batman came to a TV show in the batmobile and get out of the car and walk into the studio and get on stage

he had a great voice.
Batman can sing....wow
That's debatable.
Holy Baritone!
He sang a little in the Black Widow episode of Batman.
OMG!! I watched this live when I was 6 years old!!
Don't trust him, Batman! That's Louie, The Lilac!!
Muy Buenos estos programas

Weird coincidence...the narrator of the electric razor ad at the end was Olan Soule, who would later do the cartoon voice of Batman
abcbatman1966 Wow...that Is a coincidence! Thanks for taking the time to share that!
Great catch!
This is the kind of show they had that did this kind of thing back then
I remember this show couldn't wait till Batman's appearance
To have lived in L.A. during those years with money that is . I still recall Dean Martin and his son Dino Jr , in 16 magazine , father and son sitting down with each other both playing guitar . I thought it was so cool, I wish I was with them .
❤😊😊huge fan of the 60s batman tv series great clip
i was a kid and still rememeber this
I remember this when i was 13 years old
I didn't know Adam West sang. That old buttery voice!
*GOOD LORD!* I saw this when it first aired! When was this? 1967? 56 years ago (or thereabout) and I *remember* Adam West coming up in the batmobile and running into the theatre. This was 1967. After appearing on Batman, Milton asked Adam would he like to appear on Hollywood Palace. It was Milton's idea that he appear as Batman
Adam West singing?? Holy Frank Sinatra Batman!!
Adam West as Batman is like Sean Connery as James Bond. The rest are all just wannabes......
Adam West will always be the one and only true Batman forever.
Please have a nice day today. ©®

Never heard Adam West sing before, this is great. I love the way he drove up to the building in the Batmobile. Was this in 66? or 67?
According to the IMdB, this aired on March 5, 1966.
@@PaulTestaReally? I thought it aired in October unless I’m mistaken for the Hollywood Palace episode he hosted
He's Got a Great Bat Voice!

Gee, I never knew that Adam West sang!
I think you guys meant the 70s cause Batman was a night time show in the 60,s not an after school show .
You spell his name wrong. Is "BATMAN".
Milton Berle to all of us will always be a number 1 comedian of all time.
May he Rest In Peace forever.

I can just hear Milton's young son now ... daddy, you know Batman?
incredible
@jerbydan -- I believe that sketch was done on a weekly Friday night Milton Berle variety show that aired during the 1966-67 season. Also Berle appeared on a few BATMAN episodes as guest villain Louie the Lilac.
I remember this
Interestingly enough Milton Berle played Louie the Lilac in one of the Batman TV episodes!
@ZoneFighter1 Right, both in Season 3 (i.e. the Batgirl episodes).
I wonder if this pairing of West and Berle led, in any way, to the Louie the Lilac episodes...??
Great 😊
I love this
Sometimes forget how big he was.
He did bust Louie The Lilac for worst criminal guise.
adoro Batman
This is t.v. show from the 1960s that had him on at the time of this kind of t.v. show
Milton Berle went on acting on Batman the 3rd year. Not a superheros but a guess villain as (I'm trying remember the name)Larry the Lilac. A monster type character who loves lilack. Hence the name
To add 'he' - meaning West- in 'Super Powers'
What year was this? I assume this had to be between ‘66-‘67, leaning more towards ‘66. Definitely before Milton Berle showed up in the third season as Louie the Lilac. Great performance 👏🏾. So sad he became type-casted after the show ended. He was very talented.

@QClubs
How long ago was it when u were a kid?
I wished I had lived in America during these years,.
Meanwhile, in Vietnam.......
Hollywood Palace must have a Batuniform changer like Wayne Manor
Guest staring, Benita Bizzare!
Thanks for "The Bugaloos" reference!
THAT'S LOUIE THE LILAC! WATCH OUT, BATMAN!
Same time same bat channel oh yeah!!!🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇😂❤
Before Kevin Conroy....Adam West made Batman a singer.
Batman is sure light in the loafers.
Could you guys see Bale or Affleck singing? I don't think so. Adam was a bad man!
Where's Robin, did he finnally get a date?
I understand that Dick Grayson got a date with Susie the cheerleader that evening.
Does anyone remember an introduction where Batman slid down the pole on another variety show?
The same show , but he was the guest host of The Hollywood Palace , that night.
Funny, Milton Berle was on the show later as Louie the Lilac.
Yo, Adam was this tall!?
HAHAHAHA! You can find Adam on camera with Pro-Wrestling Star Jerry Lawler. It's posted to TH-cam.
I wonder what Olan would think of electric shavers that make you look like you haven't shaved (providing just the right amount of fashionable stubble).
I wonder what the people on the street thought when they saw the Batmobile pull up?
Martha Raye!
Batman & Louie the Lilac.
Adam West Batman
No hate remarks form the lady viewers? Thad lady driving remark may have drove some crazy. Personally, I believe that not ALL lady drivers are bad drivers.
What can I say except that it was a different time? We're much more conscientious about that sort of thing now than we were before.
@jerbydan I just posted that video for you - it followed this sketch on Hollywood Palace. Enjoy! D
Not sure about Berle as CK. On Berle's TV show Adam West(no Burt Ward)guest starred as Batman along with Van Williams as the Green Hornet & Bruce Lee as Kato.
Holy lip sync! But better than his song "Miranda"..
Classic
Batman's cowl looks different than the one from the show.
You're right, the ears and nose are sharper or more pronounced
Wouldn't it have been great for Batman to put a coin in the parking meter like he did in his show?
Louie the lilac
Louie the lilac aka milton berle
Uncle milti
Still irked when they broke in on the show for Gemini coverage. Glad they were safe but
Only decent Batman there ever was. Can dance, can sing, isn't taking himself too serious. Here is to ADAM WEST. Fuck the narcissistic hollywood rubber birds.
Martha Ray! : (
Batbobao!!!
He lip synced the song.
Batman using the front entrance..? Awkward...

Bad lip syncing, Adam.
