I like how he apologized for laughing when they were poking fun at Robin by saying "I don't know why I laughed at that, I never laugh at anything about my Robin." It was very fatherly and showed the bond him and Burt had.
I met Adam West once. I said to him, I never really watched Batman but I know you from your work on Family Guy. Your character is hilarious and you have such a great voice. He said, "MY VOICE??? ..LA LA LA LA. " I laughed out loud. I asked him his favorite Family Guy line and he said, "I am a tomato." I said, that's it. Thank you! :)
LESS Sexual actually. Adam was a notorious cougar. He slayed many a gal' . And by that I mean he could turn himself into a physical Cougar sometimes and they are dangerous and unpredictable characters...let me tell ya. So youre wrong there friend
Adam West was a legitimately *critical* character in Family Guy. He didn't have many lines overall, but his funny-per-line ratio was out of this world.
if he had done bond and stuff it would have been unfair. this guy is a nice showcase of how actor can make his career on a couple of roles without seemingly forcing himself into countless roles and hogging all the screentime. personally i cant really stand the bradley coopers and henry cavills who seem to want to be in every movie
He has a lot more creative control now, I bet back then the executives wouldn't let there be dead air. Times change too, people are more savvy to what's expected and also more appreciative of absurd deadpan jokes.
He was still learning to be comfortable and still trying to find his own rythm back then. Nobody knew he would evolve into the greatest late night host of all time
Adam looked very good here at 68. The Batman series was a giant cheesefest but he had all the qualities that made it an enduring portrayal. He gave class and dignity to the role.
UNFORGIVING! Imagine giving him a pistol ! Damn. he wouldnt take no pistol though, he'd do it old school...With nunchucks. At dawn. Or dusk , perhaps midday. We shall see...
You can see how Adam is very fond of Conan. "Only with you Conan" sure carried weight. It came from his heart rather than a script or rehearsal . They sure are a dynamic duo. RIP Adam.
Pure...West. How I wish Lookwell was made into a series, even if for just one season. I don't think any other actor could deliver a performance like this man. I hope future generations appreciate him.
Adam West's Batman was the first super-hero remember revering when I was a child... even decades later, in the 80's/90's when the show had already been in syndication forever. Watching him here brings back memories.
Conan's idea for an elder Batman giving a new Batman advice is literally what's happening with Michael Keaton coming back with Ben Affleck in The Flash.
Is it tho? Batfleck is like decades into being Batman. He's already well experienced. The closest multiversal equivalent of giving advice - or not even advice, but just guidance- is Tobey and Andrew with Tom in No Way Home.
@@shplop5408 agreed absolutely and a missed opportunity, ,but Micheal Keaton as an elder Bruce is still alive and actors that could be a "Terry-Bat" maybe Chris Pratt or Channing Tatum , , , a live-action "BATMAN BEYOND" movie could be VERY well received these days , , , ,
If you have not seen the Adam west documentary you need to find it right now. It's called starring Adam West. Absolutely must see for any true fan of Adam west. The dude was truly the nicest guy in hollywood. His story is fascinating.
Adam West was almost 69 yo when this Conan show was videotaped in 1997. Today is year 2022, and Michael Keaton is already 70, and he's still portraying Batman in a big Hollywood production. Adam could still have played the role during that time.
Hollywood wasn’t keen on having actors return back then for nostalgia especially to have reboots as well. Nowadays everything’s gotta bring back old actors and characters. But Michael Keaton I don’t mind
they did the 2005 special. and this newish flash movie was full of cgi when it came to keaton too. hard to imagine cgi west punching bad guys. besides half of the show were the villains, all of which were dead at this point minus newmar, but she also isnt exactly catlike
Well, if you think about it, Batman: Beyond had the "Uncle Batman" role played by an aged Bruce Wayne from the original animated series. The dynamic of rigid crime-fighter and righteous punk worked well, and they had some great stories.
It would’ve been Awsome if Adam West later played Alfred and then we can have a time where Alfred has to pretend he is Batman to protect his secret identity.
He was still handsome and such a Batman like voice , I had a crush on him and Robin as a kid , it was a treat to be able to watch Batman & Robin on TV since we couldn't get the channel that it was on most of the time so when I did get to watch it I was so excited 😊😆
I always maintain that Batman the Animated Series is the best iteration…and they included a character voiced by Adam West, the Gray Ghost, the hero that inspired Bruce Wayne.
I remember Adam West was scheduled to sign autographs in my town and a week before I was going to buy tickets he canceled his appearance. Never got to meet this legend. ):
RIP Adam West I want to thank this man for introducing me to my first Batman experience eventually the movies came out, but I grew up watching Batman from Super friends and the Batman show.
Before he died. I made a funny comment in his Facebook Page. I mentioned something about his Thanksgiving Turkey recipe. Man Adam West was so nice he also made hilarious comment.
Is it weird that I wanted to hear Adam talk more about guitars? The fact that he knew Conan loved guitars shows that he wanted to spark up a chat. No offense to Conan, he probably had to stick to a set of questions producers wanted him to ask, but rarely did West get to talk about things OTHER than Batman. I could listen to him talk '66 all day, but the dude genuinely seemed to have other interests that would get overlooked.
"And I didn’t need molded plastic to improve my physique. Pure. West."

As much as I love Nolan's Batman, Adam West's interpretation is a classic and he is sorely missed.
My favorite is Conroy, very sad hes retired, but West is a legend.
@@TheRealUcanUwill When Did Conroy Retire.
Agreed, he’s becoming favorite Batman
But is the worst
Lol his 'interpretation'? He was the first live action batman.
I like how he apologized for laughing when they were poking fun at Robin by saying "I don't know why I laughed at that, I never laugh at anything about my Robin." It was very fatherly and showed the bond him and Burt had.
Yeah, in the interviews and ComicCons he looked so proud of him and like he loved him so much. Their father and son bond was undeniable.
Would have been nice if Connan allowed West a few sentences to give his opinion on the new Batman of the era but alas
I met Adam West once. I said to him, I never really watched Batman but I know you from your work on Family Guy. Your character is hilarious and you have such a great voice. Awesome moment with the man himself my guy. He's sorely missed. RIP Adam West
"no please call me mayor chapstick."
What ???? its my favorite line too
I feel like jeff goldblum saw this man growing up and said when I grow old I want to be just like him but more jovial, more strange and more sexual.
LESS Sexual actually. Adam was a notorious cougar. He slayed many a gal' . And by that I mean he could turn himself into a physical Cougar sometimes and they are dangerous and unpredictable characters...let me tell ya. So youre wrong there friend
you can definitely feel the Goldblum here
They have similar tones of voice and the eye for detail for sure
I feel like there's a bit of West in Brian Cranston as well.
hard to be more sexual than West, if you're familiar with Burt Ward's autobiography...
That BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL man. The voice. The charisma. You will be forever missed, Bright Knight.
Adam West is a legend. He was also the best damn mayor of Quahog there ever was.
Adam West was a legitimately *critical* character in Family Guy.
He didn't have many lines overall, but his funny-per-line ratio was out of this world.

Pure west!
A career wih Batman at the begininning and Mayor West in the end... with all the success in between... imagine accomplishing that.

This was back when Conan couldn't leave a half-second of dead air. Now he is master of the uncomfortable silence.
yep!
He has a lot more creative control now, I bet back then the executives wouldn't let there be dead air. Times change too, people are more savvy to what's expected and also more appreciative of absurd deadpan jokes.
Would've rather the dead air over chastising and being a jerk. West should have punched him. Audience would've cheered.
At he's age he still would've been a better choice for Batman, instead of Clooney
still gorgeous!
Wait he was 68 during this show 😲
He has the greatest voice.
Quite true!
Yeah even last year Kevin Conroy passed away in November 10th, 2022 at the age of 66 before he was 67 in November 30th.
I liked how Adam West was perfectly comfortable being himself.
UNFORGIVING! Imagine giving him a pistol ! Damn. he wouldnt take no pistol though, he'd do it old school...With nunchucks. At dawn. Or dusk , perhaps midday. We shall see...
There are very few actors who had as much self awareness, humility, and sense of humour as Adam West did. A wonderful person.
0:57 "this thing that people claim is a Batman movie" Lmao that's one way to describe Batman & Robin (1997).

God Batman and Robin is one of the worst things ever. You’ve got a lot of bots here too lol

Conan's idea for an elder Batman giving a new Batman advice is literally what's happening with Michael Keaton coming back with Ben Affleck in The Flash.
