It has more than one way to tactically nuke a target: one by using it's standard delivery platform to launch a nuke like most MGs; two: by creeping into enemy territory and self-detonating by using the hydrogen bomb built into it as a failsafe. And lastly, it's governed by an AI that upholds the "Mutually Assured Destruction" principle of deterrence to ensure that no one (in a fit of paranoia or otherwise) can prematurely use it to nuke a country. If any Metal Gear was ahead of its time, it was that one.
What separates a Metal Gear from your traditional Nuke is that a Metal Gear can launch nukes from any terrain. And the legs provide them with more mobility then tank treads, and from what I understand, Sahelanthropus is supposed to be like a Jack of All Trades Metal Gear - at least in my opinion within how it functions from other Metal Gear Frames. One that can be used for both Long Range Tactical Nuclear Warfare, and Frontline Heavy Combat like a tank is used for. yeah I expected it to look like MetalGear from the first MetalGear game on MSX. That was also in the 80's. Kojima seems to have lost his mind, or something weird was going on at Konami.
But Sahelanthropus IS clunky. Yes it stands upright and looks more like a traditional mecha but the way it actually moves is very old school. Imagine how fast you'd be dead if this thing moved like an actual mecha. The fastest thing this can do is run but it has to stop and pivot once it reaches its destination almost rendering that ability mute.
True, but the range of Sahelanthropus' jumps was insane. Based on the mission where you rescue Huey, I'd say it can jumps tens of miles in a single bound.
CabinDoor Nah not really, I found it to be fun although you don't really need to do anything except to just constantly fire at it, it's pretty damn fun, especially when it rusts vehicles.
+Jackie Leong Sahelanthropus and Rex are actually the same Metal Gear, but was just dumbed down because it was destroyed pretty badly in the cut mission 51. So I guess they couldn't restore Sahelanthropus to it's original state.
Someone had a good explanation for it. This Metal Gear was made with the Philosopher’s Legacy which contained trillions of dollars to fund the project that had Skullface with his metal archea, Huey, Stranglove, and Granin’s leftover research. The TX and D were made with Diamond Doge’s funding which wasn’t as expansive as the previous, They only had Huey. Then comes along REX with Hal using the US defense department’s money to create *something* our of Sahalenthropus’ ruins. RAY was made by the Marines.
Hes not actually supposed to walk upright. Thats an ability given by Mantis controlling it. The way it stands inside the hanger is how its supposed to get around.
@Needles Iblis yes but he's not meant to walk that way. When he stands upright on his own he's like a turret. When he stands upright and is mobile mantis is controlling him. Its why huey is baffled when it can fucking walk upright.
+Redstone Casey Not really. Sahelanthropus seems too slow and too fragile compared to other Metal Gears to actually give MGR Raiden a real challenge. If anything, that whip-sword is the only weapon posing a true threat to Raiden and even then, it's so telegraphed and easy to dodge that I don't see Raiden having much problems, if any at all.
Well unless Excelsus was a complete chump of a design i'd figure it would at the least interesting(just as a reminder that raided tore it apart with one of its own Arm blades)
Well the Metal Gear Excelsus was a bigger and stronger than the Sahelanthropus in my opinion. Armstrong was stronger than the Excelsus...damn I wish that MGR get a sequel...but it won't happen...
+radioactivesandvich and I remember when people said that MGR:R was "not metal gear" because in metal gear there wasn't mechs with blades on them... :/
+1r0zz I'd say this is a real metal gear game. Sahelanthropus fits the criteria. It has a railgun, it roars at you for some odd reason, and it somehow grew a personality. One that happens to hate snakes.
SloppyNegan _It wasn't finished in any way. There was dad more that they were going to do with the story. Including adding Chico in as a main villain._
In the actual plot of the game, a lot of stuff (Venom Snake coming out of his coma) is due to young Psycho Mantis being fixated on the hate he senses in those around him. Sensing the hate in Volgin's dying mind triggers Volgin to be re-animated as the burning man and wakes Venom from his coma. The hate in Skullface is acted upon in animating the actually nonfunctional Sahelanthropus (which might explain why it has mannerisms). Then Liquid Snake gets Psycho Mantis's attention. And if future metal gears were modeled after this one they could finally have an explanation for why they also have animal roars. I'm somewhat ok with all of this, but I draw the line at where this game explains the MGS3 Cobra unit powers as being from vocal cord parasites. Never change a game that's already perfect.
Scientist 1: "hey we buit this amazing bipedal tank, that can climb any height. Imagine the artillery power of this thing, the tactical advantages. So what ballistic weapon should we put on it." Scientist 2: "A fuckin sword."
I remember first seeing all of this go down There were 4 of us huddled together and screaming at the guy with the controller. He was silent for most of the time and all you could hear where just us yelling stuff like “STAY ON THE HORSE”
i actualy S ranked this fight LOL keep out of range of his attacks use homing rockets an quiet using her beastly 50 cal sniper rifle an hes a peace of cake
I actually went into the first vehicle, and I repeatedly gunned him own. He actually kept attacking, then pausing when I show, and I depleted like 3/4 his life. Then he blew me up. So I ran in the tanker, which was hell to use, so he destroyed that... so I then ran and rocket launchered his ass! S Rank!
"You need to stop it, Boss. Destroy sahelanthropus." Boss: "Of course. Five tanks and two helicopters didn't do shit, but me on foot gonna take it down. Thanks for the trust."
3:42 I find it funny how the metal gear goes out of frame, and he ascends upwards has a spaz attack and is in motion instantly. But before that hes just standing there like a statue
I feel like the most important thing about fighting this boss is distance. You have to put a lot of distance between yourself that thing so that you can get a better chance at using range attack. In fact, I’m pretty sure the same principle applies for every metal gear you have to fight on your own.
+Deathlord126 how is it not? Its a bipedal, sword wielding, death machine... please tell me how a transforming rex like mech that transforms to walk upright isn't more advanced. Nano sword that somehow allows the rock to grow instantaneously? Okay.
I have played it, and its a game. Cant really base it based on gameplay alone. But just face it, the sahelanthropus is more advanced. Though Rex is my personal favorite metal gear hands down, I personally dont think rex can take this guy.
+NagualShaman66 it's not just gameplay though, in-universe REX's armor is impenetrable indeed, only reason you defeat it in MGS1 is because you damaged it internally and yet it was still operational in 4, in terms of power and tech, REX and RAY both trump sahelanthropus, not to mention both gears can have a proper pilot, Sahel is in such a rushed state that only a kid can pilot it, and even then, it wouldn't be operating at it's fullest without Mantis's control The real strenght of sahelanthropus lies in it's nature as a "living nuclear bomb", that's why snake and eventually the combat unit in the cut mission can tear it to pieces
+Last Noobn I fought him on extreme. He is not so hard once you get to know him. But the whole battle looks quite scary. He has different color on extreme difficulty btw.
+Master Xehanort I think it's dark outside when you are fighting him on normal too. The battle looks scary on normal too :D But yea, Sehelanthropus is colored black.
+Last Noobn It wasn't hard on Extreme difficulty when you know how to beat him. He's weak from behind,if you see those white pod kind of things on his back, you need to shoot them. Also using D-Walker with gatling gun makes it easy.
hahah I did that too.I used my Rockets and a Pistol that fires grenades.I also had Quiet with me.She may have been unable to damage this thing, but I liked her too much to replace her XD
+Mindaugas7100 I can even run it on i3 3110m, AMD Radeon HD8670M 1gb and 8gb with effects on HIGH and shadows on MEDIUM. This is one of best optimized games.
The issues that made Sahel impractical for mass production and future use: 1. Its cockpit was horribly built its structure cannot accommodate an adult human to pilot it, hence Why a supernatural being like a young Psycho Mantis and young Liquid are the only ones at the time can control and pilot it. 2. Though it has the ability to "stand" upright that of a humanoid, its limbs particularly its legs were not heavily fortified and can be exploited by concentrating offense on its legs to stop its movement; this is why REX was designed based on Sahel's "crouch mode" as it provided better traction on the surface and structural balance on the giant frame while moving. The previous issues were also rectified as the legs were massively armored while not totally sacrificing mobility. 3. At the time, Sahel cannot be fitted with a nuclear weapon armament to the weight limitations, to compensate this Sahel is made out of depleted uranium and uranium metallic archaea (then early form of nano technology), this combination will enable it to melt its parts to provide energy that rivals of a nuclear reactor. The flaw is, Sahel has to has to basically self destruct in order for it to detonate and make a nuclear explosion.
Quickest way, once the game restarts hid behind the cliff to your left and wait, send a bombardment to the very far end of the airbase. The robot weapon will go to investigate, once it's off send another bombardment to far end. Pick up your prisoner and run to helicopter as you lift off man the big gun as robot comes round let loose all bullets on it's head, boss beat complete in 3 min flat.
Kaz and Ocelot cheering the player on really takes this fight up a level. They spend most of the game arguing with each other, but when it comes down to it, they’re both here to be bros for us.
I love the cinematic because it's like snake have a guy who accompany him and record their mission. The noise of the robot sound like an angry elephant. Edit : in the fight, he used a flamethrower when you are near him. But that is kind of wrong when you realise WHERE the flamethrower is on the robot.
it'd be awesome of Diamond Dogs fought alongside you here. All the work you've built up fighting against the Metal Gears. Hell, if we can't control the battle gear, at least having it fight alongside you against Sahelanthropus would've been awesome
Knowing how good this game was and couldve been. Kojima will make sure that Death Stranding is gonna be something ahead of its time. Everything happens for a reason
Leave it to Kojima to present a damn good mech fight...still, nothing beats the first time fighting Metal Gear Rex in fully rendered 3D on the PS1.. or the Shagohod fight in MGS3. The music scores on both hit.
Teixas maybe is the sounds it makes.... but is definitely the most scary MG of them all !!! I too imagine myself peeing all over me trying to escape from that thing XD
Man, reading all the comments and I see people still whining and complaining like little children because they didn't get what they imagined Just get over it, The boss fights are there, go and fight the enemies if you want to, the game encourages you and allows you to replay mission as you unlock new weapons and items, create your own fun and stop whining. I just find it stupid how people complain about everything nowadays.
Carousel For the most times, yes. Because something like a story is the writer's right to present the ideas they have in mind since it's their creation...this is not a supply and demand thing...this is art afterall. The problem with most fanbases is that each one of them make a wishlist of demands for the writer and expect the writer to "suck their dick" with it...and frankly a writer can't just please everyone...so I don't see a point if people keep clinging on to their wishlist and whining about not getting what they wanted about a story. I Believe people should appreciate the writer's efforts a bit more and be more open minded about the kind of story they are presented with and try to be objective when they analyze or critique it...but what is happening with the MGS fanbase is just whining due to nostalgia goggles combined with half truths mixed with alot of mis-information and exaggeration to praise the older games (which I also love btw). It's kinda like the SMT fanbase where the fans of Persona 1 and 2 try everything in their power to ridicule Persona 3 and 4 for being different.
TPP has TWO good boss fights and a bunch of really shitty side boss fights passed off as main boss fights. I understand why people complain and get frustrated by TPP. The boss battles in the older games are all memorable as fuck, unique, and a HELL of a lot more fun to play. People were expecting to get more cool shit like Vamp, or Fatman, Mantis, or ANY of Deadcell. Classic MGS bosses are memorable as hell and fun to fight. Quiet and Sally are the only ones in TPP worth a shit. The Skulls and Eli boss fights are all terrible and easily the most forgettable boss fights of the entire franchise. Eli is literally just a quicktime battle (twice). The Skulls are just bullet sponge gauntlets you just rocket spam and a shameless Quiet x4 rehash in a jungle. They could have done a LOT more in terms of boss battles in TPP and it shows. People come to expect things from a franchise thats been built over the course of twenty years. The memorable boss battles the franchise is KNOWN for just didnt happen in TPP. People have the right to be disappointed.
Same. I just kept running circles around the same rock structure and hitting him with a launcher. Sahelanthropus's only weakness - cylindrical obstacles
man when I played this part I made the chopper and Quiet do all the work. Ran around like a headless chicken til I jumped in the tanks and started shooting. Awesome cutscenes
***** That's precisely the problem with this boss fight. In older Metal Gears it was only you and your rocket launcher against a big mech. Now you have tanks, air strikes, vehicles, a horse. Everything became too easy.
RobJuanDeLaNooch Skulls with Armor are just that. Skulls + Armor. And Sniper skulls are just quietx4. Quiet was fun and Sniper Skulls on Extreme are fuking insane but still, play pretty much any other MGS game and you'll get 5 times better boss fights.
Meeting the requirements for the Platinum for every single mission in the game and S rank which this time around means Speed was extremely fun and rewarding. At the beginning and at the end. Midway through the list repeating missions tedium hits hard. But I'm proud of myself for memorizing missions and being fast as fuck hitting requirements.
Anyone thinking Sahelanthropus is more advanced than REX... it's actually not. It only seems that way because it's bigger, stands up straight and carries giant swords/whips. However, the threat level and point of Metal Gears - *especially* REX - isn't that they're walking tanks fucking shit up on the battlefield, it's that they're walking tanks with the power to basically airmail nukes to far-flung countries from whatever battlefield they're fucking up. In that, REX is superior to Sahelanthropus. Sahelanthropus armor and outer shell is actually made of *depleted uranium* of all things. So, Sahelanthropus doesn't launch nukes, it *freaking IS* a walking nuke; by melting its own armor, it can self-destruct with the power of a nuclear warhead (it wasn't finished by the time Skull Face and Eli took it out for their spins). However, it's obviously a suicidal last resort and not at all practical for accurately blowing up countries, not to mention that Huey himself stated the max power of Sahelanthropus self-destructing would only be 15 kilotons (equal to Little Boy) and would be a total waste of Sahelanthropus' expensive-as-hell weapons like that giant nano-fiber sword and railgun. That 15 kiloton kamikaze may seem powerful, but it absolutely pales in comparison to more modern bombs like the 10 megaton Ivy Mike and 15 megaton Castle Bravo - literally a thousand times more powerful and destructive than Sahelanthropus's self-destruct - the kind that REX would be launching at countries on the opposite side of the planet from wherever it is *and* launching said nukes with enough accuracy to hit satellites travelling at Mach 30, all completely untraceable at that. *TL;DR* Just a reminder that giant electric swords and walking upright =/= more advanced. As a front line fighter, Sahelanthropus - when fully completed, without needing a psychic demigod to control and lift it - may be the better option, but that hardly matters in modern wars; REX, with its superior accuracy, far more destructive nuclear armament, and still being a beast in close-range battle in its own right, is the actual better.
Huey was, as Howard Stark would put it, limited by the technology of his time. Make Sahelanthropus with the more modern tech in 2007 and it'll dominate.
Gotta hand it to Skull Face, man spent what could've been his last moments giving an evil boss monologue. Man's got his priorities straight.
Only to end up giving it to the wrong guy all along....

It's scary that this giant chases you around and you thought you could easily outrun and hide from it.
Exactly. Everytime I try to out run him by running all around, he right on my ass. I can never beat it. This is 50 but 30 was easy.
How come Sahelanthropus which was built in the 80's seems so much more advanced than metal gear rex or ray which were built in the 20th century?
How come people still use house phones and phone booths in ace attorney, which takes place in 2017?
@Needles Iblis yes but he's not meant to walk that way. When he stands upright on his own he's like a turret. When he stands upright and is mobile mantis is controlling him. Its why huey is baffled when it can fucking walk upright.
MGR Raiden vs Sahelanthropus would be an anime-level fight.
Redstone Casey Sahelanthropus would die instantly.
Redstone Casey forget Raiden. I want to see *Rex and Ray vs Sahelanthropus*
did anyone else laugh when the Sahelanthropus pulled out his melee
weapon and screamed? haha omfg BRRRRRRRRRRR
+radioactivesandvich
and I remember when people said that MGR:R was "not metal gear" because in metal gear there wasn't mechs with blades on them... :/
+1r0zz I'd say this is a real metal gear game. Sahelanthropus fits the criteria. It has a railgun, it roars at you for some odd reason, and it somehow grew a personality. One that happens to hate snakes.
***** my gawd....
+radioactivesandvich REX and the Gekkos sound like cows, and Sahelanthropus sounds like an ape. Weird, but cool.
radioactivesandvich I thought it was absolutely terrifying.
Probably one of the worst enemies to face in Shadow of the Colossus.
This one has impressive weapons.
Imagine being in snakes boots literally running for your life from a machine the size of a building chasing you and stalking you lol
"Punished Venom Snake" aka medic from GZ: FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK
There's a snake in my boot
This game was so amazing. Wish it was finished though.
Scruffy Black Templar it is. Kojima announced he ended it how it was. Because, think of it. It gets continued with other games.
SloppyNegan I think everyone wanted to be able to use the battle gear
Ben Jammn' exactly
Ben Jammn' oh shit, so ur never able to actually use that? I thought it was through a side quest or sumtin
SloppyNegan _It wasn't finished in any way. There was dad more that they were going to do with the story. Including adding Chico in as a main villain._
6:39, that roar can make you forget about killing the boss, this is now a fight for survival........
4:44 this is when I realized I had bowl movement phantom zone or not
14:37 Phycho Mantis behind soldier :OOOOOOOOO
DeltaXeno omg
But it explained the end's power not with vocal cords parasites, but with parasites that photosynthesise
I was not happy when the kids took my giant robot a way from my mother base
Right bro! Like “get back here with my shit!”
Those kids turned me into an iPhone 17
Scientist 1: "hey we buit this amazing bipedal tank, that can climb any height. Imagine the artillery power of this thing, the tactical advantages. So what ballistic weapon should we put on it."
Scientist 2: "A fuckin sword."
Crazy how a bunch of tanks and helicopters cant kill Sahelanthropus but a Rank 5 Multiple missle launcher can.
Someone legit said "imagine having him as a buddy"
Like how tf would you take it to MB when you done and like enemies could see you with it from around 70 kilometers
Thank heaven you're not dumb
Most epic cutscene I ever seen in my life and easily one of my most favourite boss fights of all time.
Concordo com você amigo.
I remember first seeing all of this go down
There were 4 of us huddled together and screaming at the guy with the controller. He was silent for most of the time and all you could hear where just us yelling stuff like “STAY ON THE HORSE”
Sahelanthropus' whip reminds me of Tallgeese and Epyon from "Gundam WIng"
talgeese had the shoulder cannon also
yup. i loved those mechs!
i actualy S ranked this fight LOL keep out of range of his attacks use homing rockets an quiet using her beastly 50 cal sniper rifle an hes a peace of cake
Just use the GROM launcher on the tanks on his back. They are his real weak spot not his chest.
S Rank!
Was I the only one who S ranked it using an assault rifle?
ngl I did too I FUCKED MYSELF IN 2 MINUTES
Now try the extreme version it is much more difficult
Not tryna brag but i killed it with a supply drop

When you have an inch of health left on the boss, but you die after all the work you put in... So close
"You need to stop it, Boss. Destroy sahelanthropus."
Boss: "Of course. Five tanks and two helicopters didn't do shit, but me on foot gonna take it down. Thanks for the trust."
One of the greatest fights in gaming history
3:42 I find it funny how the metal gear goes out of frame, and he ascends upwards has a spaz attack and is in motion instantly. But before that hes just standing there like a statue
Anyone else notice Psyco Mantis eerily standing behind Eli at 14:35?
Kevin Blandon holy shit
Treji was like “Don’t mind me, I’m just hitching a ride.”
I feel like the most important thing about fighting this boss is distance. You have to put a lot of distance between yourself that thing so that you can get a better chance at using range attack. In fact, I’m pretty sure the same principle applies for every metal gear you have to fight on your own.
that’s true. I swear, getting between its legs is a death wish, between its stomping animations and its flamethrower.
It's me.......or Sahelanthropus is more advanced than REX and RAY????
No it's just bigger
+Deathlord126 how is it not? Its a bipedal, sword wielding, death machine... please tell me how a transforming rex like mech that transforms to walk upright isn't more advanced. Nano sword that somehow allows the rock to grow instantaneously? Okay.
+NagualShaman66 Rex has impenetrable armor if you played mgs 1 saloanthropus can be shot with missiles normally
I have played it, and its a game. Cant really base it based on gameplay alone. But just face it, the sahelanthropus is more advanced. Though Rex is my personal favorite metal gear hands down, I personally dont think rex can take this guy.
+NagualShaman66 it's not just gameplay though, in-universe REX's armor is impenetrable indeed, only reason you defeat it in MGS1 is because you damaged it internally and yet it was still operational in 4, in terms of power and tech, REX and RAY both trump sahelanthropus, not to mention both gears can have a proper pilot, Sahel is in such a rushed state that only a kid can pilot it, and even then, it wouldn't be operating at it's fullest without Mantis's control
The real strenght of sahelanthropus lies in it's nature as a "living nuclear bomb", that's why snake and eventually the combat unit in the cut mission can tear it to pieces
The camera men is the most epic of them all.
David vs goliath in nutshell but with gi joe toys and stuff
0:23 You know most tank drivers would realize they are an artillery vehicle and stay far away when shooting. But what would I know.
Complaintzy those were Americans..
I'm not sure if it's accurate to call them artillery but yeah they should be able to hit sahel from way further.
Can't imagine playing some of these bosses on hard. Dx
+Kick Butt i did fight him there is custom of this boss like mgs pw and ya everything almost do one shot
+Last Noobn I fricking love thise guy on extreme:D
4:55 Don't mind me, just marking the roar that will haunt my dreams.
Thing looks like a prototype Orbital Frame, Zone of the Enders is an underrated gem
so am i only one who didn't use the vehicles but instead used my 4 star rocket launcher? With Quiet not D-Horse?
+Nick Titel I used a three star rocket launcher with Quiet. I died. Many times.
hahah I did that too.I used my Rockets and a Pistol that fires grenades.I also had Quiet with me.She may have been unable to damage this thing, but I liked her too much to replace her XD
I just used D-Walker with lvl 3 gatling gun
I have died like four times when it's health was one fight of an inch. Mostly because I'm running off a cliff and not looking forward 😐
Went LMG no buddies and i can say pain realising skulls method was not gud enough ah good ol minutes before almost dying
I want to see Sahelathropus as a boss fight in a Metal Gear Rising game one day
I always died when it started shooting lasers.
Damn this looks awesome. 60fps is smooth as hell. I should have got this on PC.
you can get 60fps on ps4 and xbone

I can even run it on i3 3110m, AMD Radeon HD8670M 1gb and 8gb with effects on HIGH and shadows on MEDIUM. This is one of best optimized games.
+B Curtis there isn't just one i5 buddy
im on the first encounter watching this and im dying of laughter of how you have to shoot its balls with rockets ;)
Looks like Sahelanthropus brought a sword to a tank fight.
MG players after they fight ZEKE: “Just like the simulations”
The issues that made Sahel impractical for mass production and future use:
That’s the first encounter, this is the second
Kaz and Ocelot cheering the player on really takes this fight up a level. They spend most of the game arguing with each other, but when it comes down to it, they’re both here to be bros for us.
I love the cinematic because it's like snake have a guy who accompany him and record their mission.
The noise of the robot sound like an angry elephant.
Edit : in the fight, he used a flamethrower when you are near him. But that is kind of wrong when you realise WHERE the flamethrower is on the robot.
Yeah I don't know why Emmerich put that flamethrower there
I loved this boss. Best boss in the game. I wish others were as cool as that one.
it'd be awesome of Diamond Dogs fought alongside you here. All the work you've built up fighting against the Metal Gears. Hell, if we can't control the battle gear, at least having it fight alongside you against Sahelanthropus would've been awesome
God that opening scene where he's running and dodging sahalanthroupus....take a second to think that isn't big boss....and how much we don't care.
So this whole army we've been gathering does not participate in the final fight

What the fuck is up with that "spikes coming out from the ground" attack? Is this Doom Eternal or something?
I think it’s Mantis

i personally htink its the way it moves
they managed ot sell that " half mech - Half Beast"
plus the fact it's specifically chasing YOU@@theoneitself
Why is this labeled "Final Boss Fight"? It's only the first part of the game right??
Dan Lindner its basically the final boss, most missions afterwards are just harder copies of old missions
Its the ending boss for chapter one of the game after this is chapter 2
Metel gear games are seperated into chapters
So not the final mission dont worry
The Moment the Game went from Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain to EDF:4.5
Man, reading all the comments and I see people still whining and complaining like little children because they didn't get what they imagined
Just get over it, The boss fights are there, go and fight the enemies if you want to, the game encourages you and allows you to replay mission as you unlock new weapons and items, create your own fun and stop whining.
I just find it stupid how people complain about everything nowadays.
+Miyakolover it's unfortunate that we live in a world filled with spoiled ungrateful brats who believe the world owes them
Not all whining is unjustified. Are you saying that complaining because you didn't get what you imagined is always wrong?
"snake i can litteraly see you."
-sahelanthropus (if he could talk)
I beat him on foot... I used a level 1 launcher and a level 4 am mrs
yup somehow,Boss is able to take it down with just a launcher, when the tanks and choppers clearly do more damage.
+DarthVel because he's the big boss
Same. I just kept running circles around the same rock structure and hitting him with a launcher.
Sahelanthropus's only weakness - cylindrical obstacles
Bob Yatron my exact strategy
I used the AM hand gun and a grade 1 shot gun, they did more damage than my first grade Launcher
Sahenlanthropus reminds me of a prehistoric ape that has the name "thropus" at the end
Sahelanthropus's name was given to the first ape species that walked upright and with both feet.
fully explained by huey by a recording session that you can listen to if you made it far enough in the game
man when I played this part I made the chopper and Quiet do all the work. Ran around like a headless chicken til I jumped in the tanks and started shooting. Awesome cutscenes
This whole fight scene I was screaming LIQUIIIIIIIID!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Because he was mentally linked to this Metal Gear the whole time!
Peace Walker was harder.
*****
Seriously Sahelanthropus is piece of cake compared to other Metal Gears.
*****
That's precisely the problem with this boss fight. In older Metal Gears it was only you and your rocket launcher against a big mech. Now you have tanks, air strikes, vehicles, a horse. Everything became too easy.
+Santiago Vásquez Gómez Honestly never found any previous Metal Gear fight hard.
+Hasan Ismail What about The End, The Boss, Vamp and Laughing Octopus?
+Santiago Vásquez Gómez What I meant is Sahelanthropus might be easy but not as easy as Rex, Ray Peace Walker, Shagohod etc..
He took him down LIKE A BOSS!!

+Al Adeeb more like "The only boss battle in the game". But I still enjoyed it (both the fight and the game)
RobJuanDeLaNooch Skulls with Armor are just that. Skulls + Armor. And Sniper skulls are just quietx4. Quiet was fun and Sniper Skulls on Extreme are fuking insane but still, play pretty much any other MGS game and you'll get 5 times better boss fights.
there are other good boss battles but this is one of the best boss battles of all time
You can actually put down the Man On Fire with the squirt gun.
I know I can do it too. But damn does it seem tedious. You ran the gauntlet sir

Why the fuck is everyone always using horse or dog on this fight when they're worthless? If any a time for Quiet to shine this is it.
RaZeRbLaDeZ eh, its more when D-Walker REALLY shines
BloodStalker 500 it’s a walking deterrent
Huey was, as Howard Stark would put it, limited by the technology of his time. Make Sahelanthropus with the more modern tech in 2007 and it'll dominate.
i killed it With a sneaking suit, 3 stars rocket, quiet, no vehicles. I won because i knew his weakness was the white things on his back and chest
