+RogersBase Well, this is unfinished. And from what I see, not the cutscenes only. This mission 51 featured a whole new original area unseen in the final product. So my guess is the level design of that hasn't been worked on fully. As to why this is not in the game... 1) Maybe this featured children soldiers in a too brutal way? 2) Konami pushed it to released it? 3) Konami found an excuse to create a DLC wheather as a patch (along with MGO?) or a 20$ one. In anycase I hope for the later. This thing only feels unfinished now.
Yeah. In my head. Because of all of Kojima's utter bullshit. Vocal cord parasites, photosynthesis, plot convenience beyond all common sense in every single mission, 10 minutes long tapes of dialog so bad it makes ones ears bleed ... Boy, what a cringe-fest that game was.
@@lonestarr1490 Wow, so I guess telekinetic psychics, cyborg ninjas, a dude that controls hornets, immortal vampires, 100 year old snipers, reptilian humans, ghost mediums, electroconductive soldiers, nanomachines, weaponised retroviruses, 27 minute cutscenes, and giant mecha were fine.. but vocal parasites and photosynthesis is where you draw the line? Are you new here, or something?
Pequod is the true hero of MGSV, even after all the shit that happened to him, all the crashes, battles, being involved in a fight between snake and the skulls that left his chopper and him physically turned to rust, and being kidnapped by a bunch of kids and declared 'probably dead' by ocelot... he still flew back to mother base to give snake the info he needed to avert a world catastrophe... Fuck Snake, in my opinion, Pequod is the hero Diamond Dogs deserves...
Very late reply here, but at the end of Chapter 1, Miller's chopper pilot used the callsign Queequeg, another Moby Dick character. I think Morpho was the Ground Zeroes pilot's callsign.
Pshyco mantis casually taking the parasites out was the funniest thing I've ever seen. Uncurable vocal cord parasites just pulled out with pshycokinesis
"That's right, don't blame yourself... Blame me." That has to be the best line delivery Keifer performed for this entire game, and it didn't even make the final cut. What a shame.
Yes. Liquid's Revenge was against his Father. He believed he was the inferior clone of Big Boss, so he blamed Big Boss and Cipher for being "the loser" So when he did in fact lose against Venom, he still blamed them for his loss. In a way, I wonder if he ever repented of his vengeance. I mean, it looks like Psycho Mantis stuck with Liquid all the way till MGS1.
Why is this still here? Just to make me suffer? Every day i can feel my mission 51.... My cut ending.... And even my hayter... The content i've lost..... The dollar i've lost.... Wont stop hurting.. Its like kojima's still there. You feel it too, dont you?
It looks like the important stuff was made but you'll notice when eli is defeated and starts talking there's no facial animations and when the sahelanthropus wreck is lifted only the head placement is there not the entire body. But overall yeah its pretty good
And it's so depressing. Keifer has an awesome voice, and I think he worked very well as Snake.

Loren Helgeson I think we were all very apprehensive for a while after the release because Hayter really was done dirty but the fact is Kiefer Sutherland has one of the most badass voices out there and he barely has to speak normally above a whisper to achieve it. Perfect casting for a character like this, but for Big Boss and Venom? I still think Boss should’ve been voiced by Hayter
thewalrus45 I wonder if we can use the Battle Gear against this (I am still DYING for news on that. A pilotable half-Metal Gear...Damn it, I want this!).
+thewalrus45 I'm shocked that this was cut from the game! The mission sounds badass and there were some key plot points there!! This needs to be released as dlc!
Oh wow I just realized they foreshadowed the whole colour blindness really early in a tape where Snake says colours look faded to him when he's waking up. This seems to be the only part where it actually becomes relevant in-game. The whole true ending DLC practice is awful but it's going to be an injustice if this isn't going to get finished and added into the game eventually.
+RRRadish It happens a few times in the game, far as I know they are very subtle. The easiest one to see is during the hospital prologue, when you fix your leg after the second man on fire attack, blood appears to be blue.
This mission alone would have rounded off the game perfectly. I love the "Truth: The Man Who Sold The World" and "A Quiet Exit" but I think this would have made for an absolutely stellar addition to the final missions.
+igorbog88 I'm in the silent minority that blames Kojima. He threw out 2 million dollars of music. Fucking waste. They could have spent that money finishing the fucking game. I don't see any studio wanting to pick him up after this. The Phantom Pain isn't finished and it's really Kojima's fault
I still wonder why people are so angry about Venom Snake not being the real Big Boss...Phantom Boss is a canon character, and not even a minor one. I honestly found the "Truth" ending awesome: the mindfuck was real, and it was so damn good. It's a shame that chapter 51 didn't make it into the final cut, as I would've loved to play that battle versus Sahelantropus again, finishing it off once and for all, but still I have to say I enjoyed the game.
I am all for the Phantom Big Boss, however it was poorly executed. They promoted this game as the story that will show us how Big Boss became evil. And I understand we got that in a way but Big Boss is so iconic, I literally felt lost when I did learn the truth. Prior to knowing, I could feel the pain that Big Boss was going through with the knowledge of his past. But to find out it was his medic, it left me thinking, "man all that wasn't even Big Boss." Which I suppose is to Kojima's credit because maybe that was part of his intention. But I felt the lead up was lack luster with most of the hints being at the beginning of the game, in tapes such as Eli's DNA test coming up negative, and that this medic was the top solider. Big Boss held this soldier in high regard but we hardly saw him. Maybe it would've been more impactful if we saw more of their interactions in GZ. I am sure it was 4th wall breaking by saying he was the top solider because it was the player that played Peace Walker but it was weirdly executed. Perhaps if we found little notes in the ACC But I think i am mostly disappointed in fact that mission 46 was subtly placed in our missions with no build up and that it was a rehash of the prologue. I remember i almost skipped the mission entirely because I assumed it was just a harder version of the prologue. I am very curious to know how Kojima would've originally wanted to make that reveal and conclude the story as a whole.
Well it looks like Konami forced Kojima to prematurely finish his game, & this got cut, but even before his fallout with Konami, this looks to me like Kojima deliberately left the door open for another Metal Gear Sequel, which will never be made now.
+1LIFEtoWIN It probably got cut because budget. Because this would have been a whole new region. A new island. And the game was already far over budget. Back in 2008 MGS4 cost about 40 million to make which is a lot even today. MGSV had a budget of 90-100 million. And this Episode might have brought that up probably another 5-10 million. It's a real loss doesn't take away form a great game that has now a much more intimate ending.
Me after finishing both Quiet's ending and the truth ending: Wow after so much there's still so much to do and the main game isn't over yet. (I didn't take the credits at face value because at this point I've seen several credits of the game already) Now then to get back at that jerk ass little blonde and get back my giant badass death robot! (No more story missions pop up) oh I guess I gotta do a few more side ops for it to trigger. That worked before so here I go (Does Literally every single damn one of them) ....The hell? (Looks up next story mission online only to find out...this) The Hell?!
Kingdom of the flies along with a number of missions in Chapter 2 werent finished. Kojima was removed from the project and Konami ordered them to stop late stage develompent of the late game unfinished missions and finalize what was already fully produced. Kingdom only exists as a video on the special edition collectible DVD. It shouldnt be considered canon at this point. Man who sold the world is the final canon ending.
Handgun777 In that you were actually meant to be the real Big Boss from the beginning, but when they realized that they couldn't actually support that concept after Kojima and Konami has their tift they had to write in a cop out so you would be motivated to play MGO. It's just a thought.
Dr. Steve Brule Maybe. It was kinda cheap that they DID say you were gonna be "Big Boss going Nuclear". Every fan thought that they were finally gonna see the missing Big Boss chapter. The one that explained why he was the way he was in Metal Gear 2.
To anyone feeling pissed at Kojima and Konami, this may make you feel a bit better. MGSV The Phantom Pain is largely based the classic story Moby Dick, right? There were a lot of names and themes in the game that came from the book. like Ahab, Ishmael, etc... During its first publications in UK, Moby Dick was missing its epilogue as well, hence why it got bad reviews at the time because there was no closure on Ishmael's story or in this game's case, Big Boss' story... This may be cruel, but this may be yet another stunt by Kojima...
+Taka Baruna Fuck that. If Kojima did that...Fuck, if that was Kojima's fucking plan all along, to do another stupid fucking stunt, that is total bullshit. All this buildup, and it was wasted because it wanted to be based off Moby Dick. Fuck Kojima. Fuck The author of Moby Dick.
+deetsitmeisterjd i bet this will be released as DLC soon. now that Kojima left, nothing stops them from making the game a $ milking machine. i hope you won't buy the DLC if they release it. don't support them when they screw us like this. i already refund the game, and if they release this content as DLC, i will pirate the shit out of it. i don't like pirate games, but i don't like getting screwed like in TPP either. the one thing you should never cut from a game, and release it as DLC later, is content of the game
+TheRabbitFear It shows what appears to be 9/11 at the end for seemingly no reason. This whole "cut content" thing is a red herring and we can expect more from MGSV soon. Maybe even on Friday (9/11.)
TheRabbitFear What? The image itself shows the twin towers in NYC and this Friday is 9/11. It doesn't matter how the Japanese write the date. lol Friday is still the anniversary regardless.
Interesting that the color blindness can be triggered in-game. These days I fell off a cliff a wee bit too high and Snake sprained his ankle. After healing up the world felt a bit bleak. I noticed the fulton lights weren't red but white, and I thought it was some kind of bug, until a few seconds later it all came back to normal.
Caleb Farnworth backstory: Mother Base was destroyed and he jumped infront of big boss to save him from an explosion. Big Boss didnt have any serious injuries but fell into a coma. Since the only sirvivors from the attack were miller, big boss and one of the best soldiers of big boss and big boss was in danger, the soldier aka venom snake, was put into a coma and the doctors altered his appearence so he can look like big boss and they hypnotised him to think that he's big boss and they gave him all of the bosses memories. After the boss had awaken, he did too after a couple of weeks. While he was in the hospital, he was attacked by mercenaries and with the help of big boss he escaped and met ocelot. Him and ocelot went to afghanistan and thus he became the phantom of big boss.
I personally loved the ending. In the true ending, it shows that the title "Big Boss" is just that, a title. Remember what Liquid Ocelot said in Metal Gear Solid 2 "With the right situation, the right story, ANYONE can be Snake" and in this case, The Medic, after facial surgeries up the ass, the doctor of the hospital in Cyprus, Ishmael and Ocelot both filling this medic the idea that he was Big Boss, just proves Liquid Ocelot's theory right. And this game wasn't trying to be better than the previous games, story wise. It was meant to fill in the gaps, and it managed to deliver it in spades.
+Expand Leo I bet the finished product would also talk about Sniper Wolf, Gray Fox, Naomi Hunter(her story is a bit lackluster) and maybe even The Boss, as some PC gamers found out The Boss's model inside the game files.
+Jatin Ramlowat 1.there are only 50 eposides in the game, 51 was deleted . 2.I finished all the story missions and still couldn't find the scene which was in the e3 2014 trailer .
If you think about it, this is actually one of the two times Psycho Mantis has used his power to help someone. First was helping Eli/Liquid remove their vocal parasite. The next was helping Snake move onto the next area of Shadow Moses
Yeah but he claims when he helped Solid that was the first time. It's explained in MGSV that mini mantis isn't using his powers at will, he's just being controlled by whoever has the biggest hatred in the room at the moment. That probably means Eli used mini mantis to save himself, it wasn't mini mantis who decided to help someone.
Snake going colorblind after a serious injury and shooting Eli was a really clever piece of writing...that I never would've understood if this mission was finished. This actually happens in the game (you really do go colorblind for a bit after healing a serious injury), but it's something I never once actually noticed, because the game never draws any attention to it. I only noticed it after watching this video, when I had just healed and I realized a couple of red cargo containers had turned gray. In this cutscene, Snake actually does look down at his red bionic arm which has turned white, but it would be no guarantee that his arm would be red to begin with. The player can equip any arm for the mission (the rocket arm is silver, the blast arm is black, etc). So the game would need to either: a) come up with some reason to force Snake's arm to be red for this mission and then draw attention to it multiple times before it turns white to ensure the player would notice, or b) explicitly demonstrate Snake's colorblindness during a different cutscene earlier in the game and/or flat-out explain it to the player
I mean correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the game default your arm to the red bionic one when you head into the Quarantine Platform during the second outbreak? I'd assume they were gonna do something similar here, just with this slight variation of the "Biohazard" fatigues
@@BatsAndNights it does, but that's one mission out of 50 plus side ops where the vast majority of them let you choose which arm you want, and which the vast majority of players will choose something other than the default red arm 🤷♂️
@@blizzsmokey1 Yeah, it's definitely established in certain places, but the fact that you only noticed it because you're replaying it proves my point. I bet the vast majority of players would be like, "What? Why did Snake shoot Eli? Why was his suit white for a second??"
Too bad it was cut but thank you nevertheless for showing it to us. Also on another note ,for a ~30 completed work it still looks nice. NOT perfect but it could be left in a far worse state so that noone could retrieve it.
Personally, I say the fact that this was even included in the bonus blu-ray disc that came with the collector's edition and not swept under the rug shows that Kojima did want this in the final game. Recent reports indicate that KONAMI poured $80 million into this game and they were NOT happy about that. With that being said, I think this scene was a casualty of KONAMI not giving the funds and resources to Kojima to finish this final part of the game.
+Sup750 We now know that Kojima went over budget at multiple points in production which led to the $80 budget. To be fair, 80 million is a lot and quite frankly, one wonders if it's just too much for a video game. In Japan where economic woes can be seen more often these days, that amount is A LOT for a video game. You can't just pull tens of millions of dollars out of nowhere and drop it on somebody. As terrible as Konami is, Kojima isn't a victim. He knew that he was going overboard and should have scaled back in other areas if he wanted to make this Stage 1 a reality.
+ZerogunRivale the 80 million also went into the development of the fox engine, so in total, it's not very much since the engine could be used for a fuckton of games, given how optimized it is.
+ZerogunRivale Seeing how much money the game will make, Konami is definitely still to blame. This 1 missions couldn't have cost that much more money. They spent a ton of money on making an online mode (made by Kojima LA, not Kojima himself) but they can't spend money on letting Kojima finish the fuckin game?
+ZerogunRivale but MGS is a series that moves hardware; it's not on the sam elevel of fanboyism as GTA or CoD but it's always been a good seller. 80 million seems cheap considering CoD rehashes a ten year old game engine and blows hundreds of millions of dollars in ardvertisement. Konami got a kickass propietary engine, with the best selling series they have now besides PES; they shot themselves in the foot with this.
Lord Seth 80 million is cheap for American and Canadian developers, but outside of Square-Enix and certain Nintendo games, it's actually VERY expensive for Japan. It's literally two different mentalities for making games between the east and west. Most Japanese games never need to cost anymore than 20 million dollars sometimes. For a Japanese company making a game not named Final Fantasy or Zelda, spending more than 50 million is considered going overboard. This is why Kojima has explicitly stated during the past few years (even before the fallout with Konami was announced) that he'd like to work with western developers. On the flipside, often western developers spend too much. 500 million dollars is in the midst of being used to develop Destiny as a franchise game (that money being spread over the development of the actual game which has been released and all future DLC which is currently being produced).
Kojima was overbudget when the game was released, which is probably why they forced it out Still, the profits eclipsed 80 mil on production by a landslide, raking in 170 million on day 1 alone, so they should have just stuck with it
holy shit.. why the fuck would you cut such an integral scene? who else wants that Eli/Liquid Snake and Psycho Mantis game?! they need to make Metal Gear Liquid.
+Artsic OMG!!! Yes!! Psycho Mantis and Eli!!!! Spotlight is always on Solid and some on Big Boss (3 and 5 and bits in the other games) but a game fully on Eli and PM would be awesome!!
Liquid doesn't do anything really exciting before MGS 1, it's mostly fighting with the SAS and British Secret Intelligence Service during the gulf war. In 2000 he became squad leader of FoxHound just after Solid Snake left, with the goal of killing Snake for Big Boss' death (Liquid wanted to do it ) in 2005 Ocelot convinces Liquid to start a insurrection. Which becomes the Shadow Moses Incident when Liqulid and the FoxHound unit under his command take over the nuclear disposal facility.
Most of his squad were already in FoxHound, minus Psycho Mantis of course, he was made leader of the already existing unit. Though what happens in the 5 year gap is not known, which is where the game can be. Also I'd argue the best Foxhound team is the original; Big Boss, Solid Snake, Gray Fox, Roy Campbell, Dr. Clark (paramedic) and Master Miller.
Konami HQ meeting at the release day of MGSV: "Ok people, we fucked up too many franchises, but MGS is perfect, right!?" "It is perfect!" "Graphics are good?" "Yep" "Audio?" "It's great" "Gameplay?" "Tuned to the max" "Story?" "It's all wrapped up!" "Ok I hope that everyone will enjoy their 51 missions of the final chapter of Big Boss!" "50 missions" "Wut?" "..."
As a long-time MGS fan, it's such a shame TPP which has great gameplay, also has a pretty rubbish story and the way it's told is a mess. Mission 51 actually looks like a decent ending to the whole Diamond Dog story, which was definitely lacking closure. So I think it's fucking disgusting that this episode - for whatever reason - was axed from the final game. TPP is not the best game in the series, which is such a shame.
+Stonecoldsas 1 If it had even a story half as good as MGS 1-4, it could've been the best game of all time. They really fucked it up big time. The gameplay is in another league compared to the rest of the series and compared to most games period but the story is shit compared to the rest of the series ( still a fuck ton better than most video games stories though) Still GOTY hands down though
TheBangooman Nah, fuck no LOL You think MGS 5's story was lacking? Just wait til you play a fallout game. Even at MGS's worst, it's still ten times better than any fallout story, and the gameplay is already clearly superior to Fallout's as well. MGS 5 still has GOTY on lockdown. Hell, even Bloodborne has Fallout beat
Hugo Stiglitz Man the game is not out yet, so you can't know how the gameplay is gonna be. I personally like Fallout world a lot, and just because it's stories are simple and less contrived doesn't mean they're worse, just diferent. And keep in mind every time Bethesda releases a game (other than ESO) they get GOTY and wreck everyone else, so they can't be that bad. Still, this year is gonna be hot with Witcher 3, Fallout 3, MGSV (unfinished) and some other games I heard are pretty beast. Still it's nothing but a price, end of the day no one cares.
I -NO, WE NEED THIS AS DLC! February 2016! Who's with me?!God, I love the idea of DLC (...as long as its not needlessly cut and/or overpriced) expanding a game, giving devs the opportunity to finish a game which otherwise would've had stuff cut out forever, and experimenting with good ideas for a sequel. DLC done right is epic.
+davekpenyong That ending it's not a good reason to have the actual protagonist being quiet as fuck. I mean, he doesn't have any opinions, nothing, and the tapes are just excuses
davekpenyong And? So if the other one it's not the real, he should be quiet? That's my point. The "phantom" guy (our character) was supposed to had Big Boss memories cause hypnosis like Ocelot said, he took the identity of the real, so he should act like that, not quiet, it does NOT make sense, for me, at least
Faraghorn Warlock yes the difference is youve lost an arm and you the player represent this phantom snake, similar to how we were forced to use raiden in mgs2 with the whole memories of a character thing, it makes no difference whatsoever you aren't the real big boss, as you can see the real big boss was talking 50x more as ishmeal than every scene venom snake is in, besides you have the glorious casset tapes to listen to the real big boss after you've finished the game.
If budget was a concern, I would have rather had "part 1 and part 2". They could have easily sold Ground Zeroes+hospital+Afghanistan (where you kill Skullface) as Part 1 for $60 and sold a more fleshed out Africa+this area (where you become the villain) for $60. I'd rather have that than have a game that feels unfinished (still a great game).
+Sven Stoffels Just when I developed quiets XOF outfit she's gone. MGS5 really didn't meet my expectations at all, sorry that GOTY belongs to wither still.
The music in this game was nothing short of Phenomenal, and there were so many scenes that were excellent when it comes to cinematography, atmosphere and feeling. It is so sad that it didn't reach its full potential.
all this concept art looks amazing. It would've been awesome to watch Diamond Dogs commanded by Venom Snake fight Sahelanthropus. Would've been an awesome way to bring together everything you worked to grow from the start of the game.
cwjakesteel It is. Far worse. Nanos were an ubiquituous handwave to bring closure to the whole flustercuck in MGS4. They were a lazy explonation, but didn't nullify the story. This twist does just that.
+cwjakesteel Nanomachines were a way for Kojima to get himself out of a corner from all the crazy stuff at the end of MGS2. He had to also say a lot of stuff was just misinformation...
Tsinjo Rasamy Soldiers are taught to hold rifles sideways while wearing respirators. It allows them to get a sight picture while still having the stock against the shoulder, Something impossible to do while holding the rifle the normal way.
Recently replayed MGSV and it's such a shame this mission never got completed. It would have provided some much needed closure to the Eli and Mother Base arc. This mission (at least in terms of the incomplete cutscene and dialogue shown-off) could easily have been the best-most interesting one in the entire game. The "Lord of the Flies" references is fascinating.
Why we didn't get this and instead got a bunch of repeat missions is beyond me, though Subsistence C2W and Cloaked in Silence Extreme were certainly fun.
@@UKEDNHAT7 you didnt even need to do them, so they cant be called fillers. I didnt do a single extreme or other type of harder version of the main story... all you need to do is a specific amount of sideops to open up the next story mission in the game. No need to touch the hardmodes.
+BrickArts295 honestly me too hey why don't we just tell konami we'd pay for it to appease they're greedy needs and then get it! no srsly fuck konami give it free they don't deserve more money
@Microwave why would you want anything konami makes creatively when it's not tied to kojima? Only he knew what he wanted to do with the story. Need I remind you the dumpster fire that was "metal gear survive".
The prologue was a standalone, so maybe the epilogue is a standalone too? And fucking shit, let us have Quiet back, I get it, the story calls for her to leave, but what's the point of us having equipment and clothes exclusively developed for her if she's going to leave for fucking ever?
+Eddiethenotsogreat maybe theres more to come becasue you dont just have a great character like quiet and then say oh shes gone. shes not dead becasue she has no lungs for the larva to eat. i think we might be getting a huge patch becasue kojima still works with konami until December
+Gmansniper And maybe psycho mantis will remove the vocal chord parasite from her too. Plus, the supposed reason she left is because of the Quarantine incident leading her to believe that she wouldn't be safe even if she didn't speak english ever but that turned out to be not true once they found out the true cause (douchebag Huey using radiation to cause mutation)
Hugo Stiglitz i was so ready to fucking murder huey after quiet left.but yeah everyone thinks shes going to die but they forget the parasites can only kill you ny eating your lungs which she doesnt have so she can only spread it
Doesnt she have lungs that are just unusable? Also its not like they cant just deoloy an antidote for her. She has eagle vision x100. Pretty sure she'd spot it. I think the only risk are her abilities so she might stop breathing and die.
I remember hitting chapter 2 in the game and saying to myself "DAMN! I guess there's a lot more game left!" And then there wasn't. There were only a handful of missions in Chapter 2 and then the game abruptly ended. I'm not a Metal Gear fan so I can't really make heads or tails of the lore, but I definitely was not playing this game for the story. The plot was just impenetrable, especially with this middle finger of a non-ending. The game itself was great, though.
I recently started playing this game again, and I realized that Kojima might have had some weird, artistic excuse for the game not having a proper ending- I think a big part of the story is that Big Boss doesn't even enjoy what he does anymore, he just does it because its all he knows how to do- he's the Ghost of the Battlefield, the Legendary Mercenary, the man know as The Big Boss. He ends his arc with Skull Face, gets his revenge, and then what's he going to do? Disband Diamond Dogs, go back to the States, and become Assistant Manager at a WalMart in Kentucky? No, even if he could handle that, he's got too many enemies and too many people who count on him to walk away from the war (Another Day, in a war that never ends?) Chapter 2 is just Big Boss's life; he wraps up his arc, gets his dramatic showdown with his nemesis, and then its back to shooting mooks for bread money. Maybe in a year or two he'll have to stop some psycho who wants to flood the world with radioactive gerbils or something, but that won't be the end of things either. Big Boss never gets an ending to his story, and neither do we.
WTF, they cut THIS! Man this would've been a fantastic ending to the game. Also, why cut this. The game has all the story setup for this confrontation. To cut this leaves a huge hole in the story. Bad move, unless they're planning on releasing it as DLC at some point, hopefully free as this should've been in the included price of the game. Hell on that note MGSV: Ground Zeroes should've been included for the price of this game. I mean it was only an 1-2 hr. story tops (I explored that mission a lot/site seeing).
+nickreilly72 I understand the reasoning behind Ground Zeroes, don't get me wrong there. The idea was nice. Get players a chance to try out the new mechanics and to get some player feedback before releasing the Phantom Pain. They tweaked some things so it does show that they listened to the feedback. The problem was the price itself. I mean I already knew it was going to be short and I still bought the damn thing brand new (and loved playing the main story and side ops). I just believe that it would've been nice to include Ground Zeroes (just the main story) as an opener for this game. Consider it as an Episode 0 for those that didn't play Ground Zeroes when it first came out. Imagine those players, they're like "WTF how did Big Boss get in a coma and what happened to MSF?" The reason they didn't do that was so that people were forced to play (BUY) Ground Zeroes just to know what's going on from the start of this game. Oh and as far as the horse goes, IMO it controls a helluva lot better than the horse in the Witcher 3.
+Chris Worley I fucking love (read: hate, but find kinda hilarious) the "An epic bossfight happens here, but we aren't going to show it" part. It's like something from a comedy: Like the end of Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
+THEGILLIGANOBAT I know it doesn't take long to beat Ground Zeroes, I've clocked in somewhere between 20-30 minutes at one time (or shorter), but my first go around I took my time. Checking out the engine, what I could do, interrogating everyone I came across, all that type of stuff. So yeah first play was close to 2 hrs. A buddy of mine just ran through the level, it was a blood bath, and beat it in about 5-10 mins. (not including the opening/ending cutscenes).
I really hope this was the work of Konami and not Kojima, such a shame this was put to waste. I think it would have been a better ending than what we got.
Konami fires Kojima: damn that sucks. Konami introduces microtransactions: well they're not necessary, right? This mission is cut from the game: WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK! WHY?!?!?!
I'm actually livid that they didn't have this in the final game. This is the climax. This is the fist-fight on top of a metal gear. This is the old men punching each other. This was what the game needed to feel like it was finished, and it wasn't there. I don't even care if I have to pay money for this, I will, if that's what it takes to make the game feel finished.
+tltar253 The man who sold the world was building Zanzibar Land and Outer Heaven and leading FOXHOUND with Gray Fox under his command. Then he recruited Naomi, Sniper Wolf, Vulcan Raven, Decoy Octopus and Solid Snake after the events of TPP.
+John Doe Naomi in 84 was a little girl and somewhere In Rhodesia. Sniper wolf was also a little living in northern Iraq probably in Mosul or Kirkuk (Kurdish areas ) and Decoy Octopus and Vulcan Raven joined Foxhound after the year 2000. (although Rave was in Zanzibar Land)
@@omkarshinde1628 because it makes the game actually a complete package. They have a scene where liquid and the other kids all leave and then nothing comes of it at all
at the end of 2 otacon says that they where in New York at some point so it would have fit perfect to double down on that after the cassette tape or before. I think they should've made paz a Main op then 51and then the truth. so that there would've been least some little tiny build up. what a shame
I'm depressed. I even lost the desire to play other videogames for now. Cut the Quiet ending, I don't care. I did like the story in general, the twist etc. But this? Why cut the final battle, the final piece of the last MGS game? Yeah, I know, it's "just a game". But we did wait so many years for this. I did invest almost 80 hours playing this game. It's Kojima's last MG game. He did work so hard to make this game. The work of his life. What happened? I can't believe they did this... really... Call me pathetic. I don't care. I won't return here anyway.
+Batman com Preparo I believe it has something to do with Konami wanting the game to be out and are fed up with how long the game took to develop and the money it took. (This is the longest Metal Gear game in development taking 5 years and costing $80mill making it up alongside high end AAA games in development costs). Because even from the trailer last year, Nuclear E3 2014 trailer, it showed part of episode 51 with the crashed helicopter and napalmed children (Which heavily implies Venom Snake returns to this place after the napalming). Since Kojima put that in the trailer he obviously was intending for it to be in the game, and Kojima would've never cut that part or the entirety of the ending. So it shows the episode 51 cut, the Venom snake speech cut and such was a decision made within the past year.
This still isn't all of it. There's a scene where Boss burns down an African village (This was in the trailer) and we see him become the villain we all know. There's a couple more too.
While the story still has issues, it's fucking ridiculous that Konami didn't let Kojima at least finish the mission to complete the final plotline left hanging. Confusing and plothole ridden story or not, at least it shouldn't have been left incomplete. Budgetary concerns are one thing, but with a guaranteed hit like MGSV, they really should've just let him finish it up, since it seems like they had a large chunk of the work done for the final mission already.

+RogersBase Surprised to see you here Roger. Have you ever done any MGS discussions on your channel before? Just curious.
Nope, I just love the series.
It's not Psycho Mantis. This boy is too old to be him.

That has to be the best line delivery Keifer performed for this entire game, and it didn't even make the final cut. What a shame.

Yes. Liquid's Revenge was against his Father. He believed he was the inferior clone of Big Boss, so he blamed Big Boss and Cipher for being "the loser" So when he did in fact lose against Venom, he still blamed them for his loss.

+thewalrus45 It might have been cut when Konami decided to fuck over Kojima Productions and release the game ASAP.
Really? Wow. Though it's random it's pretty cool.
+RRRadish There's another moment in the game where they mention that, I believe it's during a certain fight that the screen gets a bit color blind.
+RRRadish It happens a few times in the game, far as I know they are very subtle. The easiest one to see is during the hospital prologue, when you fix your leg after the second man on fire attack, blood appears to be blue.
+RRRadish It should be free. The game's not finished.
+Dath123 Actually, that happens whenever Snake recovers from a serious injury, and his entire skin (and everyone elses) goes pale as well.
This mission alone would have rounded off the game perfectly. I love the "Truth: The Man Who Sold The World" and "A Quiet Exit" but I think this would have made for an absolutely stellar addition to the final missions.

+Mordekai Quill [citation needed]
+Mordekai Quill Arguably they shouldn't have even made the Fox Engine. That must have cost the bulk of money before they even started up on the game.
I'm right there with you. I really enjoyed it and I even liked that Venom Snake was a man of few words. When he did speak he had a lot of gravitas.
Me too :'(
I am all for the Phantom Big Boss, however it was poorly executed.
Perhaps if we found little notes in the ACC
But I think i am mostly disappointed in fact that mission 46 was subtly placed in our missions with no build up and that it was a rehash of the prologue. I remember i almost skipped the mission entirely because I assumed it was just a harder version of the prologue.
I am very curious to know how Kojima would've originally wanted to make that reveal and conclude the story as a whole.
Venom snake is awesome, and very unique character
lmao it was never a mindfuck, ever since they started promoting mgsv you could tell you were not gonna play as the real big boss.

+1LIFEtoWIN A LOT about MGSV feels like it was meant to lead into remakes of MG1 and MG2 at least honestly.
+1LIFEtoWIN DLC has come to
+1LIFEtoWIN It probably got cut because budget.

So the epilogue was released for moby dick eventually? Did they sell new copies of the book with epilogue included or what?

Backstory: mother base was destroyed, he is mad

Come on, accept the fact that Venom is Gray Fox.
***** Back to the topic, psh. 20 weeks late to the damn topic.

It's pretty impressive,Hideo. Leaked UFO experiments in Nevada 𝐟𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐧𝐞 ARE, A thought be like ironic.
So the game would need to either:
a) come up with some reason to force Snake's arm to be red for this mission and then draw attention to it multiple times before it turns white to ensure the player would notice, or
b) explicitly demonstrate Snake's colorblindness during a different cutscene earlier in the game and/or flat-out explain it to the player

@@romilrh ye I'd assume they'd still let you choose your guns, just not your outfit, which would be locked to the "Biohazard" fatigues
I still dream of the day this game would be completed
But *this day never came*
Too bad it was cut but thank you nevertheless for showing it to us.
In 2023 i still don't understand why they didn't finished this masterpiece. This mission could be incredible to finish
Kojima was overbudget when the game was released, which is probably why they forced it out
Still, the profits eclipsed 80 mil on production by a landslide, raking in 170 million on day 1 alone, so they should have just stuck with it
me too… Especially it’s last game of mgs.. There will not be one anymore…
holy shit.. why the fuck would you cut such an integral scene?

+Artsic OMG!!! Yes!! Psycho Mantis and Eli!!!! Spotlight is always on Solid and some on Big Boss (3 and 5 and bits in the other games) but a game fully on Eli and PM would be awesome!!
Liquid doesn't do anything really exciting before MGS 1, it's mostly fighting with the SAS and British Secret Intelligence Service during the gulf war.
In 2000 he became squad leader of FoxHound just after Solid Snake left, with the goal of killing Snake for Big Boss' death (Liquid wanted to do it )
in 2005 Ocelot convinces Liquid to start a insurrection. Which becomes the Shadow Moses Incident when Liqulid and the FoxHound unit under his command take over the nuclear disposal facility.
the game could be simply him forming HIS fox hound group, which was the coolest fox hound team ever in MGS history.
Victor Katilis i hope they make an otacon dating game too.
Konami HQ meeting at the release day of MGSV:
"Ok people, we fucked up too many franchises, but MGS is perfect, right!?"
"It is perfect!"
"Graphics are good?"
"Yep"
"Audio?"
"It's great"
"Gameplay?"
"Tuned to the max"
"Story?"
"It's all wrapped up!"
"Ok I hope that everyone will enjoy their 51 missions of the final chapter of Big Boss!"
"50 missions"
"Wut?"
"..."
Kojima: The game is finished.
This: cutscene 30% completed.
+Stonecoldsas 1 Yup, this game had potential to be the best of the saga.
+Stonecoldsas 1 If it had even a story half as good as MGS 1-4, it could've been the best game of all time. They really fucked it up big time. The gameplay is in another league compared to the rest of the series and compared to most games period but the story is shit compared to the rest of the series ( still a fuck ton better than most video games stories though)
Still GOTY hands down though
+Hugo Stiglitz I was pretty convinced this was gonna be GOTY, but after this fucking mess, I'm fairly sure it's gona be for Fallout 4.
NO!!!!!!!!! Take back all sold copies and finish this part Kojima! Or give it as a DLC! Liquid!!!!!
*Konami...
+Ron Marks Give it as DLC? I'm sorry but any company that cuts content and sells it back to the player can suck a bag of dicks.
+Ron Marks How about free dlc?
This could've been the coolest ending to a video game. Imagine your entire military army fighting a giant mech.
I hate that Big Boss was relegated more as a silent protagonist in this game. I loved the other games where Snake had a lot of lines.
+Ace C have you seen the actual real ending which relates to mission 46, if so you'll get it
+davekpenyong That ending it's not a good reason to have the actual protagonist being quiet as fuck. I mean, he doesn't have any opinions, nothing, and the tapes are just excuses
Faraghorn Warlock oh it makes perfect sense, as you can see the real big boss is talkative, the one we've got isn't
davekpenyong And?
11:39 "Snake, what have you done? You changed the future!! You've created a time paradox!"
+Alexander DeLarge I think thats what they should have done.
+MythicMage What they should have done is a finished fucking product.
TheBangooman That is what I had thought over the past two years.
The ending to this game fucking blows... 0 resolution, I didnt even know I had beaten the game. That plus quiet is gone as a buddy. This just sucks.
+Sven Stoffels Just when I developed quiets XOF outfit she's gone. MGS5 really didn't meet my expectations at all, sorry that GOTY belongs to wither still.
+JohnJay2142 lol wither
Id give GOTY to bloodborne
bloodborne is overrated, just a dark souls 2 clone
Bloodborne had a better story then MGS5 :p
Someone should make this mission into a mod, use the voices, complete the cutscenes and complete the boss battle and level. Would make a great mod.
that is a shit ton of work you are asking for, but i'd be with you, and id fucking pay for that mod.
@@jasond.valentine5931 in MGS SURVIVE there are all assets for EP:51, it means there is a small chance of making this mission as a mod.
What if someone could just insert the salenthropus fight from earlier in the game and just put these cutscenes inbetween.
That's what I was wondering too
It's impossible to add it into the "Mission List" script. Side Ops are possible to add, though.
>Blow your budget taking Stefanie Joosten to restaurants
>Have to cut the final boss of the game
The Dude Who Is Fucking Kojima
The Dude Who Is Damn Right
NO evidence on that being the case.
Shit that could be true
The music in this game was nothing short of Phenomenal, and there were so many scenes that were excellent when it comes to cinematography, atmosphere and feeling.
It is so sad that it didn't reach its full potential.
all this concept art looks amazing. It would've been awesome to watch Diamond Dogs commanded by Venom Snake fight Sahelanthropus. Would've been an awesome way to bring together everything you worked to grow from the start of the game.
Damnit Konami. You kept in the "EXTREME" Missions after the Truth ending yet you got rid of this?! This actually relates with the plot!
Hey! Don't worry! That Liquid was actually just the medic's son who had his face carved to resemble Liquid and had his memories downloaded.
+Aivottaja lmao this whole story is so stupid
+Aivottaja I wonder if this is actually worse than nanomachines...
cwjakesteel
It is.
+Aivottaja lmfao!
XOF: We hold our guns side ways and communicate via thumbs up
Trojan Hippo sorry if extremely late, but they hold their gun sideways because they cannot aim properly using the mask
Francis How so ?
Tsinjo Rasamy what do you mean
Tsinjo Rasamy Soldiers are taught to hold rifles sideways while wearing respirators.
It allows them to get a sight picture while still having the stock against the shoulder,
Something impossible to do while holding the rifle the normal way.
@YGuy1 it was a "how the fuck you dont understand what i said"
Bravo Kojima.
K O N A M I
Recently replayed MGSV and it's such a shame this mission never got completed. It would have provided some much needed closure to the Eli and Mother Base arc. This mission (at least in terms of the incomplete cutscene and dialogue shown-off) could easily have been the best-most interesting one in the entire game. The "Lord of the Flies" references is fascinating.
Damn, the developers who worked on this game were really talented.
KOJIMA YOU STILL HAVE A FEW MONTHS LEFT AT KONAMI! GIVE US THE REAL ENDING!
Not even one xof soldier decided to switch controller ports
Why we didn't get this and instead got a bunch of repeat missions is beyond me, though Subsistence C2W and Cloaked in Silence Extreme were certainly fun.
Robin Hogan I enjoyed footprints of phantoms in perfect stealth
I enjoyed none of them, just cheap fillers.
@@UKEDNHAT7 you didnt even need to do them, so they cant be called fillers.
I didnt do a single extreme or other type of harder version of the main story... all you need to do is a specific amount of sideops to open up the next story mission in the game. No need to touch the hardmodes.
Mission failed BOSS YOU KILLED A CHILD
I'm gonna get my ass handed for saying this but, I'd pay to play this as a DLC.
+BrickArts295 Don't you give Konami any ideas... If Konami did that, they'd be worse than EA who gave the extended ME3 ending for free.
They won't finish it
Konami is busy making pachinko machines
Probably new generations will be in love with the story of the boss + the graphics detail
In a perfect world this video would have spolied the ending for me
But we do not live in a perfect world
cant believe they cut this, its important to the story and looks like it would be the best mission in the game
BRAVO KOJIMMY

+buck3theadman Man I'm pretty.
That sick burn Venom gave to Eli: "Don't blame yourself, blame me.". Like, this sums up all of Liquid character.
I was hoping a third map would of been in the Soviet Union, a snow covered area.
The prologue was a standalone, so maybe the epilogue is a standalone too?
And fucking shit, let us have Quiet back, I get it, the story calls for her to leave, but
what's the point of us having equipment and clothes exclusively developed for her if
she's going to leave for fucking ever?
I think the only risk are her abilities so she might stop breathing and die.
kinda the point your supposed to grow attached to her love her. so when she leaves it's all the more painful and hurtful.
12:21 everyone's reaction to this and Kojima leaving and metal gear solid 3 pachinko and metal gear survive
17:25 "I have to go know. My planet needs me" *slide whistles into the air*
Damn that psycho mantis, he just removed the parasite from liquid with his power, god damn he is powerful
he can also control ur ps1 controller!
5:55
My cat when I'm done vacuuming
Nice reference , lmao .
I recently started playing this game again, and I realized that Kojima might have had some weird, artistic excuse for the game not having a proper ending-
I think a big part of the story is that Big Boss doesn't even enjoy what he does anymore, he just does it because its all he knows how to do- he's the Ghost of the Battlefield, the Legendary Mercenary, the man know as The Big Boss. He ends his arc with Skull Face, gets his revenge, and then what's he going to do? Disband Diamond Dogs, go back to the States, and become Assistant Manager at a WalMart in Kentucky? No, even if he could handle that, he's got too many enemies and too many people who count on him to walk away from the war (Another Day, in a war that never ends?)
Chapter 2 is just Big Boss's life; he wraps up his arc, gets his dramatic showdown with his nemesis, and then its back to shooting mooks for bread money. Maybe in a year or two he'll have to stop some psycho who wants to flood the world with radioactive gerbils or something, but that won't be the end of things either. Big Boss never gets an ending to his story, and neither do we.
J
well said.
No, Kojima wanted to finish it so it was all Konami's fault
You keep saying "Big Boss" though
I Dunno Why but I Feel Like You Don't Know That *Venom Snake Is Not The Real Big Boss.*
+nickreilly72
I understand the reasoning behind Ground Zeroes, don't get me wrong there.
+Chris Worley GZ took me 37 mins first time through xD
+THEGILLIGANOBAT
I know it doesn't take long to beat Ground Zeroes, I've clocked in somewhere between 20-30 minutes at one time (or shorter), but my first go around I took my time. Checking out the engine, what I could do, interrogating everyone I came across, all that type of stuff. So yeah first play was close to 2 hrs. A buddy of mine just ran through the level, it was a blood bath, and beat it in about 5-10 mins. (not including the opening/ending cutscenes).
yeah you can definitely tell that it was cut, there is a severe lack on lens flares
I really hope this was the work of Konami and not Kojima, such a shame this was put to waste. I think it would have been a better ending than what we got.
If this was the ending the game would have been much better.
Konami fires Kojima: damn that sucks. Konami introduces microtransactions: well they're not necessary, right?
This mission is cut from the game: WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK! WHY?!?!?!
"this mission got cut because it wasnt good enough and not because we wanted kojima out of here as fast as possible" -konami most likely
MEGA SPOILERS FOR THE MAIN GAME
I think Big Boss should have taken this mission, not Phantom
+John Doe Phantom created Outer Heaven from Diamond Dogs...
Winston Poptart Big Boss created Outer Heaven, Phantom just leads it.
Go listen to the conversation between Kaz and Ocelot after the credits.
John Doe Ah I see. Then the Phantom dies in Metal Gear.
i would've loved this to be in the game
Why
@@omkarshinde1628 because it makes the game actually a complete package. They have a scene where liquid and the other kids all leave and then nothing comes of it at all
@@devastatheseeker9967 damn your comment was made 4 years ago. You actually replied to him now. How time flies
The fact that THIS got cut is a fucking travesty
17:12 Psycho mantis then sent bacteria.jpg into the trash bin
That last shot is where zero hideout is in Hell's Kitchen
+Antonio Fusco He weakened him and (apparently) gave him brain damage, but Zero's still alive.
Remember? Big Boss #1 kills him at the end of MGS4.
at the end of 2 otacon says that they where in New York at some point so it would have fit perfect to double down on that after the cassette tape or before. I think they should've made paz a Main op then 51and then the truth. so that there would've been least some little tiny build up. what a shame
I wondered if there was gonna be a confrontation with him and Eli about all this. Maybe?
Trust me, this isn't the last MGS. Kojima leaving Konami is just a ruse. Death Stranding is Metal Gear Solid 0.
pathetic
bathtub man I’m sorry but it ain’t
Lmao 80 hours? I've played over 700 hours now.
11:50 is the moment out of all the cut content i wish we actually got
This still isn't all of it. There's a scene where Boss burns down an African village (This was in the trailer) and we see him become the villain we all know. There's a couple more too.
While the story still has issues, it's fucking ridiculous that Konami didn't let Kojima at least finish the mission to complete the final plotline left hanging. Confusing and plothole ridden story or not, at least it shouldn't have been left incomplete. Budgetary concerns are one thing, but with a guaranteed hit like MGSV, they really should've just let him finish it up, since it seems like they had a large chunk of the work done for the final mission already.
why u do this to me, youtube? why u always remind me of missions 51 with your sadistic recommendations?? :CCC
For those that are wondering this is from the extras that comes with the MGSV Collector's Edition.
I trust that one day, when modding becomes advanced enough, some dedicated fans will complete this mission.
Probably in like another 10 years
Is this the mission where I find "Invisible" tape?
