The story was extremely engaging and it shows a assassin who became a Templar not for money or power but so the people's voices could be heard. It tells a story that makes you truly feel that the Templares might be the good guys.
It just depends on who is leading the creed and the order because from those leaders it shapes and changes goals and tactics and then eventually corruption if they are not careful.
The idea was good but the execution was pretty weak in my opinion. Basically a random guy tells Shay he wants to help the helpless (like any politician ever) and the dude doesn't even ask any questions. "He seems to be an honorable man" As if he knew. To me that was a really lame moment, and that's the foundation of his path.

You know, you can sort of get an interpretation from each version of the song. Original = Younger, more angrier Shay. This version is high energy, angry and fits the tone of what Shay would think initially about the Brotherhood's betrayal. Remastered = Older, wiser Shay. However the new version has this cushy, slower alternative tempo that fits an older and more refined Shay. He's more bitter than before (referring to the new third verse, "because you're dead to me") but he's no longer as angered as he was. In fact, he instills himself with a sense of justice from eliminating the Brotherhood. He realizes that it's not just white and black as he once thought and there are only shades of gray between the Assassins and the Templars.
So true. Actually, I would like to see a game with two protagonists (like in Syndicate), one is an Assassin and the other one is a Templar. Would create some pretty interesting situations.

I like this song in general, but this change in the lyrics in particular because it really shows just how deep the betrayal goes, how changed he is that he no longer identifies himself as an assassin and has added himself to the voices of opposition. it's really cool to me how well you brought that out.

Instead it’s just a pointless scene where Arno gets shocked for 5 seconds then gets taken in by de la serre and just moves on like nothing happened. This is why people did not like unity. Also even if Achilles told Connor about shay he would not go to the other side of the world just to kill him. And shay has no interest to kill Connor either because the colonial assassins were literally fucking with the world, that’s why shay hunted them. Connor isn’t doing anything of that sort, and therefore shay does not care about Connor

Yeah, this one honestly feels best for the remastered game. It adds a lot more depth to the song and really makes it sound like Shay is singing about his betrayal and his life now.
It shows that the Assassins aren’t all good and that the Templars aren’t all bad. It isn’t just black and white. Shay shows the other side of the story. The bad and overzealous Assassins and the good Templars.
If anyone knows about assassin's creed descendants, a book that has assassin's creed lore, Shay has a great grandson in the new york riots in the civil war, he thinks that his great grandfather (Shay) was always an assassin hunter. Yet Shay once was an assassin and was betrayed, as seen in rogue. Neat story design for this small character. And it is lore because the great grandfather was irish, turned his back on the creed, and once was an assassin. Couple that with the fact that the airgun the great grandson is using is passed down from the great grandfather. Then, the great grandfather would also have been alive and hunting during the french and indian war, and it perfectly paints a portrait of Shay. Just something I thought I'd share.
I tried to give a listen to the orginal... and i just gave up, this remaster respect to the original that was all rock and beats, it's more adventurous and poetic, you said the this one has less energy than the original, but you are wrong, the energy of this song it's felt in its scale and choice of sound and rythm, you really have evolved your standards, and this won't be surely the only remastered song i would like to hear

This - this is so relatable, just like Rogue's story. It's probably why it holds up as my favourite story in the entire franchise. And this song, it befits the game and it has the most badass vibe that sort of shares a mood I feel in real life! Excellent job!

When this song first came out, I used an app to make the chorus of this song my ringtone. While I cannot relate to the life of an assassin or a Templar, I still admire the way the chorus explained Shay’s feelings of being different from those he was raised around. Also how he was unafraid to walk away from people he no longer felt aligned with. And after having heard this remaster of one of my favorite JT Music songs of all time, I might finally be changing my ring tone. Thank you for a wonderful remaster of an amazing song, gentlemen. Wow, this version is exponentially better. There was something off about the original, like JT didn't quite know how they wanted it to sound, but this version seems way more professional.

Just bought this game after so much time thinking about it. I. Love. This game. And not only is it refreshing to have a templar story, it shows you a perspective from both sides. Awesome.
Just finished Rogue recently, I realize now that I was wrong about this game, it's not a bad game, after all, it's actually a really good game about a guy that tried to save the Brotherhood from itself and was forced to kill the people he knew and loved in order to do so. I just wish we got to get see him go up against Arno for a real final boss battle, instead of what we actually got in Unity.
This is a nice reprisal to the original. Tone wise this feels more like what would play during end credits after clearing the game than at the beginning or middle of a story.
I love how the assassin in the Cinematic Trailer's robes look like Altair, meaning Shay is willing to kill any assassin, whether if it's a typical one, or the godfather of the brotherhood. I loved the story, loved the gameplay, and people still think it's a rehash of Black Flag. And the line: "You want to make heard, the people's voices, then you desert me, for my own choices." is perfect. Since after he's seen all the suffering that the Assassin's caused, made him realize that all of it is not white and black. And tried saving them by taking it into his own hands and confront the very own person who sent him, the person who made the people suffer.
It was made in the same gameplay style as black flag as a "spin-off" as people call it, but ended up having one of the best story, the Templar master assassin, probably made allot of assassins sleep less at night

huh. You can hear a sort of drum-tempo thing keeping pace for the song- almost like those drummers way back when, instead of shooting muskets they just dropped a sick-ass beat. This song is really great-hoo boy, this is going on the playlist.
What I love most about the lyrics" if you could see the light from here, your conscience would not be so clear" is that it shows the assassin's didn't listen or care about how traumatic the earthquake in Lisbon was for shay and wouldn't listen to his warnings of the danger. They weren't there. They didn't see and hear what he saw and heard. They didn't hear the screams and cries of thousands and thousands or possibly hundreds of thousands of men women and children as they were killed by the crumbling buildings and streets. They could never understand the mental anguish Shay had endured due to accidentally triggering that earthquake.

The story of shay is truly tragic, he is the only one who notice that the creed accidentally broke the rule of stay my blade from the flesh of the innocent, and he tried to tell them to stop but they did not listen and instead tried to kill him so he had no choice but to kill the brotherhood so in the end shay was the one who was betrayed.
This is absolutely BAD ASS!!! it fits the game perfectly perfectly balancing anger, sorrow, conflict, and all that other good stuff. You guys have raised the bar higher not only others making game music but your selves as well I hope to see more revised versions of your previous works to be on par with this!!!
After listening to both versions I have to say I prefer this one! The energy in the original is great, but I think the slower pace really fits the lyrics.
The game may be short but it was amazing my favorite assasins creed game the story was amazing and it gave you a chance to really feel for both sides of the story Sure all the assasins tell you the templars are bad but in reality both have their faults. And it took a city being destroyed by the assasins for Shay to realise that. Sure he was the one responsible by taking the artifact but it was by their order and shay was the only one to feel remorse and guilt for what had happened. Everyone else just saw it as an honest accident.

When this song first came out, I used an app to make the chorus of this song my ringtone. While I cannot relate to the life of an assassin or a Templar, I still admire the way the chorus explained Shay’s feelings of being different from those he was raised around. Also how he was unafraid to walk away from people he no longer felt aligned with. And after having heard this remaster of one of my favorite JT Music songs of all time, I might finally be changing my ring tone.

Patrick Shay Cormack has one of the most compelling story in a saga of heroes.
Just finished Rogue recently, I realize now that I was wrong about this game, it's not a bad game, after all, it's actually a really good game about a guy that tried to save the Brotherhood from itself and was forced to kill the people he knew and loved in order to do so.
I just wish we got to get see him go up against Arno for a real final boss battle, instead of what we actually got in Unity.

This is a nice reprisal to the original. Tone wise this feels more like what would play during end credits after clearing the game than at the beginning or middle of a story.
I love how the assassin in the Cinematic Trailer's robes look like Altair, meaning Shay is willing to kill any assassin, whether if it's a typical one, or the godfather of the brotherhood. I loved the story, loved the gameplay, and people still think it's a rehash of Black Flag. And the line: "You want to make heard, the people's voices, then you desert me, for my own choices." is perfect. Since after he's seen all the suffering that the Assassin's caused, made him realize that all of it is not white and black. And tried saving them by taking it into his own hands and confront the very own person who sent him, the person who made the people suffer.
This game is actually underrated..
Most people I know hated it only because you play as an assassin hunter.

It was made in the same gameplay style as black flag as a "spin-off" as people call it, but ended up having one of the best story, the Templar master assassin, probably made allot of assassins sleep less at night

huh. You can hear a sort of drum-tempo thing keeping pace for the song- almost like those drummers way back when, instead of shooting muskets they just dropped a sick-ass beat. This song is really great-hoo boy, this is going on the playlist.

What I love most about the lyrics" if you could see the light from here, your conscience would not be so clear" is that it shows the assassin's didn't listen or care about how traumatic the earthquake in Lisbon was for shay and wouldn't listen to his warnings of the danger. They weren't there. They didn't see and hear what he saw and heard. They didn't hear the screams and cries of thousands and thousands or possibly hundreds of thousands of men women and children as they were killed by the crumbling buildings and streets. They could never understand the mental anguish Shay had endured due to accidentally triggering that earthquake.

The story of shay is truly tragic, he is the only one who notice that the creed accidentally broke the rule of stay my blade from the flesh of the innocent, and he tried to tell them to stop but they did not listen and instead tried to kill him so he had no choice but to kill the brotherhood so in the end shay was the one who was betrayed.

This is absolutely BAD ASS!!! it fits the game perfectly perfectly balancing anger, sorrow, conflict, and all that other good stuff. You guys have raised the bar higher not only others making game music but your selves as well I hope to see more revised versions of your previous works to be on par with this!!!
After listening to both versions I have to say I prefer this one! The energy in the original is great, but I think the slower pace really fits the lyrics.
The game may be short but it was amazing my favorite assasins creed game the story was amazing and it gave you a chance to really feel for both sides of the story
Sure all the assasins tell you the templars are bad but in reality both have their faults. And it took a city being destroyed by the assasins for Shay to realise that. Sure he was the one responsible by taking the artifact but it was by their order and shay was the only one to feel remorse and guilt for what had happened. Everyone else just saw it as an honest accident.
i like how the whole reason why there are a lack of assassins the the u.s during the revolution are because shay murdered most of them
