    Thank you, this is TRUE USER review, out of real user experiences, not just reviewing the bag out of it's stated features and descriptions

    18:40 For reference, Nomatic's website says the size of its backpack starts at 20 L and expands to 24 L. Peak has both a 20 L and a 30 L version. Though according to Minaal, "measuring bags by litres is far less useful than it seems... there isn't a standardised way of measuring volume in the bag and backpack industry."

    Very very good review. Thank you.
    Really talking what is it for, the fact that it's really good but not so much for regular stuff. So it's not an everyday backpack, but it's good.
    Gonna look up more at the nomatic

    I’ve been using the Peak bag for maybe a month now and at first, I regretted it ...until *dramatic music* , I figured out how to setup the bag to my needs (actually use one of the shelves vertically to accommodate my largest lens) ...I LOVE the Peak bag now (20L), it’s able to hold my Nikon D7200 with a battery grip and 4 lenses all at the same time ... I actually only use 2 of the 3 dividers ....sidenote, that Nomatic Bag looks super nice

      I got it to a point where I could fit/organize my stuff as best I could. But the more I tried adjusting things the more obvious it was that this bag wants to hold camera stuffs.
      I’m still holding my breath that Peak Design will create a new series of commuter packs that have nothing to do with camera gear. Wishful thinking...

      I’ve seen some videos on it. Looks okay, but it wasn’t enough for me to merit a purchase.
      My dream is for Peak Design to create a line of commuter packs that have nothing to do with camera carry. But seeing as camera stuffs is their DNA I’m not holding my breath.

      @HumorousMaximus  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It'll be unfair to both bags to compare them with one another, they're very different. I'd say right now, for the stuff I'm carrying I prefer the Nomatic. The Nomatic is smaller but has way more organization, but isn't as rugged. I'll go into more detail about it in the follow up.

    Thanks for the video! It was really informative. Can you please update us after you start riding your bike with the Nomatic. I'm looking to get the Nomatic Backpack or Travel Pack but I'm concerned about the back padding for comfort, heat, and sweat.

    • @HumorousMaximus
      @HumorousMaximus  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! Glad you found it helpful. Since the Peak is so rigid it actually doesn't follow the curves of your back, which is both good and bad. Bad because it's not as comfortable, but it allows more air to make contact with your back, doesn't have the air-sealed feel.
      Two rides into the year with the Nomatic, it's far more comfortable because it's more flexible and contorts to your back. Downside is that it's gonna get musky in there, I'm wearing layers right now but I can already tell. Summer time will tell all.

    • @HumorousMaximus
      @HumorousMaximus  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t used it since the review. I think the design is the strongest part of the bag. Material choice, and a few build defects keep it from being great.

  • @ayenawnomis944

    Great review. Very informative. I have a question though...
    Is the laptop compartment raised from the bottom of the bag? I'm a little concerned because my old backpack (Incase Icon Pack) dented my computer from placing it down too hard. An elevated laptop compartment is a make or break for me.

    • @HumorousMaximus
      @HumorousMaximus  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, thanks!
      I can confirm the laptop compartment is suspended, and includes extra padding on the bottom where it may make contact if you drop the bag hard enough.
      It’s also the reason why the bag leans forward so much, the stiff back goes down further than the base of the bag so it tilts way forward. I emailed Nomatic about it, they said it was a bad batch or something. But couldn’t tell me when the fixed batch was due.

    Hi!
    If i'm not asking for too much, but can you do a review while wearing the bag (with everyday stuff, fully packed and maybe overpacked) and show how you access the bag's compartments (for example: swipe the bag over your shoulder and access your keys or connect your phone to the powerbank)
    Thanks for your review. It was very interesting to hear a true opinion about this bag!
    On you channel i saw that you own the Prima system as well. I'm interestet in the Errant Backpack from Boundary. Do you have some impressions from the Errant Backpack?

    I have both these bags as well, the Peak Design is built significantly better, with much smoother zippers, better fit and finish, and it actually stands up on its own. They’ve also recently made changes to the bag which degrades organization. The Nomatic bag is not worth the money.

    • @HumorousMaximus
      @HumorousMaximus  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting... I'm not pulling punches in my follow up video. It's definitely got problems. What did they change, the big front organization flap?

    • @MobileConcepts1
      @MobileConcepts1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      HumorousMaximus Firstly, they no longer include the 3 organizational sleeves, the combined the tech sleeve and paper into one, you only get one slot for all your papers now, instead of 2 or 3, plus you have the added bulk of the tech pockets whether you want it or not, and they also no longer include the shoe/clothes organizer sleeve, and yes it’s still the same price. They cut costs but didn’t reduce the bag. Then in the front section, they changed the 2 large open mesh pockets which had 2 smaller ones stitched in front, to 4 spread out small pockets, so whereas before you could place tall items up to 6” in the 2 large pouches and smaller items in front of them, you have 4 pouches that can hold max 3” height items. If you try to put something taller, it either hits the pouch above, or interferes with closing the zipper. They ruined a clever design in my opinion. The original design was well thought out, now they went and broke it for whatever reason. I’ve tried to return it, they want me to pay for shipping back (like this is my fault), I said I want them to pay the shipping since it was false advertising, now they went dark. Great company. You can’t even call anyone, you’re at the mercy of email only.

    Hated the peak design. The design of the straps which pivot, sacrifice any yoke stability, so you’ll notice the bag always wants to ride low and pull AWAY from you, even when the shoulder straps are pulled tightly. This exacerbates the problem of the thin straps because it spotlights them by putting so much weight on them and they cut into your shoulders. Poor design. A backpack that fails at being a backpack
