My other thought was something like a treehouse but more just a house on stilts/up in the air.
I loved the enclosed area that feels like such a private space. I love the outdoor shower and sauna - those are super cool features!
I think what I wish was different about it is instead of the quote wall - which is super sweet! - I wish there was a mural with more color as an eye-catching and Instagrammable moment. (As if your whole clamping area isn’t an instagramable moment 🤣)
Also…I don’t know how to spell “instagrammable”. 🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
I hope what you do with the next ones isn’t the exact same as what you already did.
I hope you incorporate more colors in the next one. Maybe a theme?
I really love the idea of using reclaimed materials to create another oasis. I just home you don’t replicate the one you already made; even though it’d be super easy to just do it again.

If you have enough land (I can’t remember how much acreage you have) could you build like an obstacle course as something for couples/families to do in the woods together? Or create a scavenger hunt/treasure hunt for kids?
Those might be ideas to enhance the experience at English Creek???
@@nicolereed8707 those are all amazing ideas!! And the quote wall definitely needs to be changed but we couldn’t think what would weather well since it would potentially get wet so I have an idea. I’m not sure I will reveal it yet but I have a thought! And we have a few little updates we want to do with feedback and things we have noticed we want to change in there but it’s been booked and we haven’t had the chance to get in there! Our next ones will be different! Different layout different style and I have at least one theme! We want to play on romance or special occasion since all of our guests have taken into that category. We are making our barn into a clubhouse and we are working on the creek side access and lots of other ideas! I wish I could snap my fingers and it be done since we are impatient and want our vision to come to life. But we are working away to make it happen. Slowly but surely!

Thank you so much. You must have a really good eye for design because it’s hard to see those kind of things in video and without actually walking a space. But you are absolutely right! At one pint that was the plan… but we change plans every few minutes haha. So if I remember right we decided we had enough glass on that north facing wall and we didn’t end up adding that window there. That’s a great point. We actually will be doing that. We wanted to but actually ran out of time. Someone booked kind of before we were ready and has been booked since so as soon as we get an open window we are going to update some things. We are going to insulate and update the ceiling color. I'm so in love with your aesthetics; I adore the dark paint inside. I was skeptical about the backsplash, but it looks fabulous. Is it going to be hard to clean due to the texture? Your outdoor courtyard is off the charts awesome sauce. The outdoor shower is a great idea and I would not do outdoor toilet and inside shower. It feels good to shower outside, we have one at my parents' farm. It's fun and I really hate to have to go outside in the night to use the restroom. I don't see much that you need to improve upon. Maybe a slightly larger sauna space on the next one. One question I had from either an earlier video or your listing, is about the courtyard drapes on the opening towards the meadow, how do they function? It didn't look like a rod went across and it didn't look like a lot of drapes on each side either. Overall, you should be proud of yourselves, because this is stunning.
Thank you so much!! The backsplash is a pain and we won’t be doing that again! It can flake off little pieces somewhat easily and is hard to clean. I love the idea of the outdoor shower as a more adventure and exhilarating experience but I don’t know about the toilet outside. What if it’s dark and freezing? You’ll freeze your tush off right? We are thinking of a bigger sauna but a community one in our barn. I’m not sure if people would use a community one though- thoughts? We do have a wire rod for the curtains to close. We need to purchase little weights though for if/when it’s windy!

Wow hope it's not hot with no insulation. Ouch. Atleast need some ceiling vents and a low low wall vent to let cool air in and hot air out.

Hey there, seriously love the design and think you two did a great job especially when you were talking about using textures effectively! I heard you talking about excess humidity and wanted to share some thoughts. Is this predominantly happening when the space is unoccupied and the system is not running for an extended period of time? Without knowing more specifically about what ductless split system you chose, there should be the ability to keep humidity down if you investigate the settings.
Oh whoops I think you misunderstood. Here in the mornings the outdoor furniture gets dew on it or if it rains then some of the outdoor furniture would get wet, so I think I was saying we have black towels to wipe down the outdoor furniture. The mini split does a great job and we haven’t had any moisture issues or anything! :) But maybe there was a different part in the video you meant- let us know! Thank you though!
@@buildfixflip That's definitely my misunderstanding and makes way more sense! I thought you were talking about moisture buildup inside and I started freaking out a bit for you (uncomfortable, potential for mold, etc.) thinking that it shouldn't be a hard fix as those ductless splits are actually great at keeping humidity down typically. Glad to hear it's working great! :)

Based on our location, permits and plans are not required. We are in a very rare county where there is no building code or zoning ordinances... so we were free to build whatever we wanted! What are you planning to do and where are you located?

I have a ? Does this actually make money? I just retired and have a small 11 acres and am close to a great fishing stream so was thinking of starting this
Did you insulate the roof with exterior insolation?
I am not sure what you mean by exterior insulation.
At first we had no insulation at all which was a huge mistake. The shed comes with plywood, roofing paper and metal panels.
Earlier this year we decided to insulate the unit, so we took everything out and installed batt insulation r-11 since the shed is built out of 2x4.
It has made a huge difference!!!! Much more comfortable and much less work for the mini split unit
Are you all familiar with Big South Fork? Or Pickett State Park? We are about 2.5/3 hours from you. Just wondering how much traffic a place needs to have to generate a good income? Would love to have something like this here but just not sure we get enough people through here. Great job on your space!
No I’m not familiar with those! I’ll have to look those up! We are about 45 minutes from Gatlinburg and we thought the same thing, that we wouldn’t have enough tourism and we have been almost 100% booked so far! So I think your area could potentially work! I would research to see if there are other Airbnb’s in your area and see if they are booked out!
Is the roof/ceiling insulated?
No, it is not!!! And we regret it so much!!! The lofts get extremely hot when it gets over 80 degrees outside and it’s impossible to keep any heat in there for the cold days. So our mini split has to work all the time to regulate the temperature.
In the next few weeks we plan to go back in there and add insulation to all the walls and roof. I really wished we would have done it before. Are you planning to build something like this? I hope you learn from our mistake and insulate it very well
How much do you rent it out for?
Hi JoAn, right now this glampsite is our top performing unit. We started at $100 a night plus taxes and fees, but today we are around $125 for weekday and $150 to $175 for weekend.
But we have had quite a few bookings over $200 a night in popular weekends and holidays.
The record as of now is $343 per night!
Do you have bears, wolves or other predators in your area?
There are black bears around this area but it has been very rare in the last 15 years from what the Neighbours tell us.
No wolves. Lots of deer, some black snakes, a few foxes. So nothing too crazy

Everything perfect, but I don't like the name. Sounds like a typical American neighborhood name you see everywhere.
We originally were going to name our business Shed’s Creek. We thought is was very fitting and a fun play on words like “Schitt’s Creek” but we took a big vote in Facebook groups about short term rentals and it overwhelmingly said English Creek Hideaway and that we would get higher end clientele? I’m still not sure it was the right choice, but we are open to feedback!!
