Pinning some clarification up here for visibility as theres a raging debate going on in the comments. Matsuri's literal words referring to Hololive's "love ban" rule, is related to 社員/会社の人 (Employee/person form the company). While technically Holomem are under contract and "of the company" context is everything, and Matsuri brought it up to crush her fan's hopes of joining the company wanting to date her.
If I'm not mistaken, this Hololive rule came about around the time of the whole Mel incident, and is there to protect the talents from Cover staff itself, not other talents, and to avoid the Mel situation from happening again.
Are you talking about the harassment incident?
I'm not a super weeb but I do watch a few vtubers, who's Mel and what happened?
@@SlainByTheWire Mel is a Yozora Mel, a vampire from 1st Gen. She was viciously stalked and harassed by a former manager. The police got involved and the case was settled ouf of court. Cover changed a lot of policies and even paid for all of Mel's moving expenses.
@@SlainByTheWire Yozora Mel is another Hololive Vtuber from 1st gen. Someone stalked her for a while, I do not know if it was an employee from Hololive but that is what I've heard the most. She was on hiatus for a while trying to sort it out and she eventually did as she is still with us!

Dran, I know your translations arent technically wrong, but I see this causing a huge misunderstanding in the comments. What Matsuri talked about here were specifically "employees of Hololive" not being allowed to date the talents. This is refering to the staff, not other Vtubers within the company.
The entire point of the line was that if someone was trying to be hired at Hololive or become a manager just to hit on their oshi, it wouldnt be allowed.
It's not your fault, but it would probably help if you clarified this in some way.

I believe she mainly meant the staff. Relationships between people in different places in the company might cause a weird power dynamic that's problematic not just for them but also for the company. Vtubers are however on the same level, so that's less likely to create an issue.
Well, considering that Flare has stated in a stream that she doesn't consider Noel as a friend, but instead as a lover, I'd say that the rule very likely only applies for staff.
@CUTE ONION oh really?

@@pierreyann1 I'm leaving this unnecessary looong, poorly written wall of texts here since people that may come check this clip can get a clearer context😕
Mafumafu, the guy's already been a famous Utaite (Japanese online celebs who mostly do cover songs) that known to attract so many female fans and being nice to all of them regardless, while said Holomem, well, Rushia, personally has been a fan of him for almost 10 years and often shows affection for him online. it seems she's the one who might've felt more passionate about it. Whether they actually date or not, it must've been felt disastrous how her personal emotion was just so happened to be accidently "exposed" like this, especially around days before the Valentine's Day. She even wrote a tweet saying she's in a deep desperation and can't decide what to do anymore. (and deleted it later)
The news quickly gotten on trend and now she's getting a huge amount of blatant hate and support from each sides of their fandoms. The way I see it, unlike the popular belief that only bringing up the "hardcore idol gachikois" of her, most of them simply victimized themselves and walked away, as in, no more support on money and enthusiasm wise. ("Unicorn" is the best example of a term to describe how they behave that heavily rooted in Idol/celeb culture.) The bigger trouble really is mostly coming from the obsessive, angry fans of him that accusing her for how she's at fault for causing the drama. (They despise Vtuber and its fandom in general as well, much similar to how some fans of irl celebs feel towards anime and nerdy stuff) They're insulting not only Rushia, but other Holomems who openly wished her well. Mafumafu had to come out and make the situation clear himself that they're not in fact in a relationship, but it didn't help much. At least Cover corp is now being supportive of her (a few days late and indirectly, but still)
and like I said many of her fans are too. They made a hashtag #るしあ大好きだよ (WeLoveRushia) and it got #1 trend in Japanese Twitter. Overall, it's a bit more complex than to see it only as a war among "hololive fans", as opposed to some bandwagoners make it out to be.
(onward is purely my own opinion) it's ultimately up to Rushia for how she'll handle the situation when she gets better and comes back. I think clearing their relationship is the least important priority at this point. The bait is already there. A simple denying won't satisfy the cesspool of turned fans/antis/trolls and cynical outsiders whatsoever, as already proven by Mafumafu's case. She needs to stand up and make a clear point on distinction between fantasy and reality, the selling point of her GFE that is. The worst I can think of is she simply "apologizes" and cries for everything as expected without any further insight on the matter and causes the whole swarm to target her once again, but twice the hostility.
I genuinely believe this whole fiasco can lead up to somehow a positive result for the betterment of the industry and everyone in it in the end if handled right, but we'll see. All the more power to Rushia, holomems, and their fans💪
No dating your coworkers unless they’re fellow Vtubers... Perhaps this was Yagoo‘s goal all along

Cover is different than many companies though, as there's a line drawn between members and staff. Relationships between staff can be problematic as there's a typical corporate hierarchy which can cause problematic power dynamics if love gets involved. Members are all technically equal in rank, so NoeFure would be okay for example.
I'm happy to hear that their members are given that freedom, though I'm a bit uncertain on what the best policy would be should one of them actually enter a relationship. Would it be something they have to keep a secret or would it be openly shared? Of course, there should be no obligation for them to share such details of their private life if they don't want to. But at the same time the potential repercussions for if it's kept secret and then found out could be much worse than if it were made clear from the start. I suppose it would be up to the individual member how much they plan to divulge.

@Caio Coelho why would you even be public about your relationship specially in a country that puts privacy first? Hell even famous youtubers and actors don't want their relationships being public. This is not about being an idol it's about putting boundaries for your work life and personal life.

And then you actually get in the rabbit hole and there's a dragon selling drugs. Coco brought me in, thanks kaicho.
A lot of people commenting on this video should have started with Coco, which would have given them enough of an ironic distance to know when it's fun to play along with yuri kayfabe, etc. and when it starts to become creepy to take jokes & acts in earnest
Thats all over already, new rules came and told all edgy stuff forbidden.
Just so you know, Hololive has never been an idol agency. Not to be mean but just because Hololive's Vtuber gets flamed for being in a relationship/speaking to a male be it co-worker or other wise doesn't mean it applys to all Vtubers
With Towa the case might indeed be about the boyfriend stuff, but with Aloe and especially Chris you couldn't be more wrong.
People got mad at Aloe because she talked about "taboo" topics like a Nijisanji vtuber's retirement and complaining about her former workplace. Antis saw her as 'someone who talks about things that shouldn't be talked about' and were concerned that she'd do the same to Hololive. Unfounded worries ofc, but yeah. TL;DR Aloe's case did involve hardcore idol fans but not the 'purist' faction.
With Chris it's even murkier coz Hololive itself won't say anything about her. From what I understand Chris's case involved bribes, blackmail, and a sex scandal. We will never know what the truth is but I'd like to think they honored her somewhat: Gen 1 was originally 6 members. The subsequent gens only had 5. Ideally they should've helped her, but doing that would've likely sunk them.
Disclaimer: These are things I found out by being a curious SOB. I might be wrong.
Chris did something criminal that why she was fired. Aloe leaked her own info and got on the bad side of haters she left Hololive for her own mental well being, anyone similar to Aloe case be Coco but Coco is a lot stronger.

I think this means there's no written rules about it but like JP idol culture "unwritten rules" probably still apply. I mean someone got suspended before because there's a voice from a guy in the stream no? You would also notice most of the time when they tell stories like they went to the doctor they will specifically say the doctor is female.
This is where different cultures really show, I doubt it would affect overseas fans much if they enter a relationship but their popularity would prolly plummet in JP~
idol culture is really scary though, like there a clip of matsuri explain that she need to convince the management to let hololive join in Apex tournament because the risk of male player joining too
Your example is a bit more nuanced that you realize....
Technically the suspension you're talking about was because the Hololive talent (I don't want to name names) in question claimed the voice was Cover staff and it got out that it wasn't. So Cover had to apologize and lost face (as the talent was pretty new at the time and has just debuted). ... Of course part of the reason the talent felt the need to act as they hey did was because of the unwritten rules about idols that you're describing. They lost JP viewers out of the gate (though I believe have recovered since...), but saw growth from overseas viewers. (Who rallied to support them)
@@thegenregeek Ehhhh, My entire point is if it's not against the rules there wouldn't have been a need to explain in the first place. Whatever said talent (let's not name names) did is wrong or not isn't really something i want to touch on. I mean we agree for the most part but do you really believe the reason the talent was suspended or almost "cancelled" by JP bros was because she lied about who the voice belonged to? If so, let's just agree to disagree there as I believe no matter what she said then, JP fans would have been enraged. I live near Japan and I go there like 2-3 times a year and I have to tell you the Idol culture there is like a religion haha
@@muhammadamarzarkafar2216 omg it is! Hololive idols are somewhat lucky majority of the fanbase doesn't know their face because other idols can't even really go out with any male friends at all!
A lot of people need to watch this clip specially with the recent incident
oh yeah? 🤭
I can understand the no love allowed to employees since... That's not a good sign for others and they will spread lies about it. Unrelated but what about the time that Towa got suspended for having a malw voice being hear at the background? Most people thought she had a boyfriend and got mad which lead to her apologzing. I question if there are really no restrictions. Because i hope they are not restricted to love because if that makes them Hapoy then im happy. An idol is someone to admired to someone to be owned. Though, even if they did get in a relationship i am pretty sure they will avoid announcing it.
Edit: now I've think about it, they probably didn't suspend towa because of that but just to calm things down. Because of that suspension, she had way more loyal fans that actually cared for her. So basically the suspension thing worked out for Towa.
People often misunderstand what actually happened with Towa back then. She lied about the guy on the stream being a Hololive staff member, because she panicked. She had to apologize for that and was suspended for a short time. The manbabies getting angry that she interacts with men are irrelevant.
@@yoursonisold8743 Towa (and Luna) also had hate mobs because of their previous lives
don't throw your arm out patting yourself on the back
Towa did gain a large EN following because that. It less that she gained a lot of her JP following leaving but the overseas stayed because of that for a time he EN following may have been larger then JP for a time. Have an active EN chat made more overseas viewers show up as they felt included that how her Overseas following grew so much.
I be admiss to not admit Towa's JP viewer base has regrown sense but that time nearly a year ago was a interesting time.
The company relationship thing makes sense. It happened to Hololive in a way with Hitomi Chris.
Idk why people think hololive works like your average idol company. What yagoo said back then was that he wants to created a company for those who dream of becoming an idol witout the "restriction" of entertainment bussiness (good face, good personalities, showing up your personal life).
Basically they can be idol with the personalities which they've chosen, without revealing their personal life. That's why people respect the boundaries between the current them and whatever previous activities they did. Whether they date, has a familly, or whatev, doesn matter since you root for talent A that portray B character, not their real self. This is what we both agree when this whole things started.
This is also why you are an asshole if you go around tryana spread their previous activities. They want to be known for who they currently are not their previous one or their next one. You dont chase around your favorite artist/entertainer when they retired do you? Cause that's just borderline stalker and creppy.
Look at what happended to Mel after her debiut. Then you will know why. Cover is not better than any other entertainment company.
@@idrilek It is actually a proof that Cover is better than any entertainment company. They made bad choices (mostly because they were totally newbies in the entertainment scene) but they learn from the mistakes.
Look what happened after the Mel situation. Cover covered all the costs Mel got. No other entertainment company is willing to burn their profits into ashes for a single talent, when they can just dispose her.
@@retrictumrectus1010 They did that same thing with Aloe and Coco.
When one of their talens get into trouble they just send her on leave, hoping that problem will go away. It work with Aloe, problem disappered along with her
And they can't fire Coco, regardles if they want or not, or. This would crumble entire company.
I don't have any grudge against Cover, but i wonder why lot of people see them as some paradise company and will defend them regardles of context. Cover is not different than Ichikara or others companies.
@@idrilek Isn't Aloe graduate because of some angry and toxic Nijisanji fans decided to doxxed and stalked her because she say something about Nijisanji/Ichikara. It's neither Aloe or Cover fault Aloe graduate, it's those tribalist Niji stan.

Yes. That was main reason why she was attacked and other 5 gen girls wasn't (all 5 gen info was leaked).
Coved did jack shit to help her and send her for 2 weeks leave for dumbest reason. They did't fired her, but her leaving was very convenient for them (you don't wanna "idols" with tarnished reputation in this industry).
Cover isn't the bad one here, they just act like normal corpo would act, cut ties with "problematic" employee. But people acting like Cover is some amazing and flawless company.
tbh relieved they dont have any of those strict rules, because stuff like real idol companies is strict asf with their rules on love
glad cover is letting their talents have freedom in what they want to do for their private life.
I never thought they did but I thought they have a rule of not talking about it
I personally wouldn't mind if they actually have boyfriends (or girlfriends for Holostars); I'm not *delusional* as some people are. They're just 'idols' on the surface; I treat them like characters with voice actors that have their own personal lives.
This is just my personal opinion. No offence to anyone.
Have a nice day.

Sure.
@Finn Fire
Oh, okay..
I really love Hololive, and I just didn't like the toxic backlash like with Towa's and Aloe's incidents before..
These amazing men and women brings very good content to us while we're facing a challenging pandemic time; and I don't want them getting cancelled only because they have relationships IRL..
Anyways. These are just my thoughts; sorry 😣
Have a pleasant day..!
why can't holostars have boyfriends
They are not even idols. We just perceive them as idols because of Cover's "hololive idol project". They are merely vtubers, but they now do idol things too because of the idol project.
My dream of working in Hololive at the Fuji summit was shattered mercilessly
NoeFlare though?
Noefure is safe. Even the staffers ship them, most certainly.
That's generic Yuri bait. If u want something real, check outside Hololive (Crossick).

Matsuri just destroy those Nijisanji stans who always associating and accusing Hololive with Idol stuff, and always comparing the Hololive girls with Niji vtubers.
Meanwhile those same Nijisanji stans is also the one who harassing and attacking 2 of the Niji vtubers (Kuzuha & Mikoto) because they suspected that Kuzuha & Mikoto live together.😂😂😂
But the thing it happens even to overseas streamers idk if you remember lily and albert thing when people were very retared about it
Blame the fujoshis, according to the chan forums most of the hate comes from them Since they ship to kuzuha y Kanae.
There is a lot of chip het in nijisanji and nothing ever happened, like gundo and kanda.
The amount of applications for joining Nijisanji must have skyrocketed
Looks Like Noel, Flare, Coco, Kanata, Korone, and Okayu are breaking the rules......
They arent. These arent hard and fast rules and are generally meant more for "talent x staff" relationships and the like. For example a talent dating a manager is a huge conflict of interest and would be severely shunned.

"She says they can't date someone from the company....but what she actually means is..." Honestly, I find the whole jumping through hoops of analyzing and deconstructing what she meant just so people could continue to ship the talent together to be a little bit, a lot, off putting. They're not characters in your fanfictions to use as you please.
The avatars maybe, but the people behind them no way. Even then it's pretty weird given how blurred the line between irl person and their digital persona can get.
80% of chat: dang it
So yagoo can't date hololive members?
"An indoor person would be nice"
Ronaldinho Gaúcho: "tão deixando a gente sonhar"
no hard rule but they know a solid chunk of their income is going down the drain the moment they announce a boyfriend
Matsuri BGM is so catchy
Just to reiterate: Hololive's contract does not include a love ban on ANYTHING. What Matsuri is talking about here is probably just a company policy. She seems to personally think that's how it should be handled, but we know that's not gonna stop anyone if it actually happens. The potential fallout of a breakup is a true risk, but in the end these are mostly anonymous talents. And if we are just talking about staff, then them dating amongst each other is probably just discouraged like at most work places. It is exceedingly rare for it to be an actual proper rule that can get you fired.
NoeFlare are clearly straddling a fine line and taking the precautions necessary, but their relationship is supported. Yagoo isnt some tyrant.
Noel and Flare are a kayfabe yuri act between two colleagues & friends, and you sound like you're off your meds. Like it's okay to play along with the fun pretend parts here but when you start trying to telepathically interpret things that aren't there it becomes genuinely sick
@@MegaZeta How many hundreds of times do people need to laugh at you until you understand that your bait ain't working? lol

@@lalalala3203 You are sadly correct. These people probably saw a handful of clips and think they are immediately experts on the relationships between people that developed over almost 2 years now.
There is this thing with the human brain where you get huge endorphin rushes if you think you figured out a trick or a lie. This is why so many people here get off on the "It's all fake, I have seen through them!" narrative. As if people who actually watch Noel and Flare for a long time cant tell apart genuine feelings from some superficial romance play like MariRushi or Takamori.
They dont watch streams... and even when it comes to clips they probably only go for the superficial attention grabbing stuff. How many of these geniuses actually watched the Tamaki interview? I bet zero.
That's a good personal rule to follow even if it's not written anywhere. Dating coworkers, especially those you work closely with, is risky business.
