    It doesn't look too bad compared to like an engine rebuild. My '96 doesn't need this yet but this looks totally doable. Sorry for all these negative comments, ha ha. I bet everything was fine when you put her back together.

      I appreciate the positivity! Learning how to film while learning how to rebuild the Jeep has been a task 😂

    why didn't you film the whole thing? anyone can split the case... what about the bearings and seals?

      Next time I rebuild a np231j I’ll film the whole thing, just for you

    All that work getting it apart, and you didn't replace any of the bearings?

    • @motolayne
      @motolayne  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is actually a fix after a fix. I replaced bearings in fix 1, then chain in fix 2

    The rebuild kit comes with bearings and seals? How do you call this a rebuild video?

    • @motolayne
      @motolayne  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Definitely not a great step by step rebuild.

    I’m new to the jeep xj, this is my first time trying to rebuild anything but how do you re-gear your transfer case for the 35 inch tire or where do you buy the part for that or the whole rebuild kit,

    • @motolayne
      @motolayne  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey most people don’t regear the transfercase. It’s more efficient to regear the differentials in your axles.

    Where did you get your speedometer gears?

      I got mine from quadratek. They have the chart too so you can get the right tooth count.

    This unit already had the slip yoke eliminator?

    • @motolayne
      @motolayne  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it did. I was an idiot and didn’t put a new chain in at the time.

      @@motolayne I am in the process of rebuilding mine, but not putting the SYE on. I am fighting with the pump engaging the teeth on the shaft. I may have ran the lower bearing in too far.

    • @motolayne
      @motolayne  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You definitely need to bottom out the bearings on the 231. Are all the clips properly seated? I always have huge issues with getting those to sit in the slot and rotate freely.

    • @craigsturman6661
      @craigsturman6661 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@motolayne I needed to go in from the backside with a socket and pound the bearing back up so the teeth would engage. Or am I missing something?

      I have a sye to install but I’m thinking of trying the install underneath the jeep as some people have done. I only have the advanced adapters sye kit. Do you think I should get a new chain? What’s the best way to tell?

    i watched the video, so... did you rebuild it ? or just said you did but did it so the camera didn`t see ? I think now I will look for a video about splitting the case and maybe that will show the rebuild process. I get it now, it`s like reverse physcology.

    • @motolayne
      @motolayne  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah i did a horrible job showing the actual work I did back then

      My friend, you did a video and you learned there is room for improvement on the information but I was wrong for criticizing your video like I did and I am nowhere near perfect and nobody else here is either. what I should have done was thank you for putting in the time an effort to do this video. keep on making those videos they will only get better. Practice makes perfect. It teaches more to some then it does to others. I thank you for your time.@@motolayne

    Title should be 'how to split open an np231j'. Literally nothing was rebuilt in the video
