I just took my daughter to Pigeon Forge Tennessee just to go thrifting! There are so many thrift/antique stores, and and flea markets. My daughter also loves searching for dvds and vhs tapes. I look mostly for home decor, especially brass candle holders and fall stuff:)
I gravitate toward the books, and the aisles of kitchen clutter and household goods. I call it the "junky junk" but I have definitely found some treasures! I got a new Instant Pot for $10! I use it almost daily. I do look at the clothes too but that is more hit and miss.
Unless you’re planning to visit some smaller, independent thrift stores, those prices are very standard. Thrifting is trendy, especially among teens and young adults, and the big stores know they can still sell stuff at those prices! Smaller ones have less turnover, but I highly recommend checking out more than a fad in Edmonton, or Find store (no clothes at that one, but cheap books and other stuff)
Why is this so fun to watch?? That puzzle of the best bookshop in the world (or some-such)… I had that one and was going to give it to you but I figured you wouldn’t appreciate me giving you things before you moved 😂 I found the goodwill on 100th to be SO messy and disorganized, but the one on Gateway Blvd seems to be better. Not sure how the prices compare, but I got like-new AE jeans for $10 🤷♀️
I love watching you settle into your new home. We are moving to town after living on the farm for 37 years. 160 acres to an average town lot. I’m just not even sure how to begin!!
I rarely buy clothes from the thrift store here (Michigan). Clothes are cheaper at our Walmart, especially for the kids. My Dollar Tree weakness is the craft supplies. I buy too many!
The kids clothes selection here was terrible but a thrift store I frequented by our old place had kids clothes for all under $3, I miss that! And yes, craft supplies, ooh, I buy so many of them from Dollar Tree!
We don’t have dollar trees in Quebec! But I always look at only books and once in awhile puzzles lol but it’s a risky business. We’ve gotten puzzles missing pieces!
It always amazes me how overpriced Goodwill is compared to every other thrift store I've shopped at. I very much gravitate to the books, games, and movies when I go thrift store shopping, but I also have a tendency to just look through almost everything because you never know what you'll find.
The Goodwills here in Florida have really raised their prices. It's sad when you can go to a clothing store and just hit the clearance racks for less than you can at Goodwill.
I used to thrift for decades, but with these prices nowadays it’s not fun anymore. I never find good deals anymore. Resellers have been part of the problem, and online selling too.
If you want actual thrift store prices, Goodwill and Value Village will disappoint every time. I really like MCC Thrift on 149th Street. And the Salvation Army has prices that are more in line with what thrift shops should be. There’s also a great thrift store in St Albert called the LoSeCa Foundation. It’s smaller but worth the trip.
Thanks for that info! I know Value Village's prices are crazy but I thought Goodwill would be better (because I've only ever looked at their books and they have better book prices than VV). I'll look at those other stores soon!
I used to buy a lot of thrift store clothes, but the pricing doesn’t make it realistic to do so anymore. I look at books, framed pictures and other “home decor”
At Goodwill I usually shop clothes & books for myself. We are antique dealers & have booths at a big antique mall, I’m always scouring the glassware, etc for that. I’m so glad to hear I’m not the only one who buys what little bit of makeup I wear from the Dollar store.🫣🤣 I also love their cards of course I have a weakness for any type of office supplies… cool pens, post it notes, etc….
I didn't know you were an antique dealer! I know nothing about antiques but I love the idea of that, I want to hear more! Oh yes, office supplies is also my weakness.

Thrifting!!!!! Loved this!
National treasure is soooooooooo GOOD!
Always a fun time, even if you don't buy anything!
@@ChantelKlassen 💯 agree!!!
I love your thrifting vlogs! So fun to watch!
Thank for watching!
So happy to see all the Bones dvds, loved that show! And the books it's based on are good too 😊
You got some really cute puzzles!

Hahahaha! I made a list the last time I went thrifting!!!!! Awesome ❤
That turntable was beautiful! Thank you for sharing your thrifting fun. ❤
We really don't have thrift stores around here in South Africa.

I must just be used to smaller thrift stores because I'm used to much cheaper prices! I'll check out your suggestions, thanks!
A cat obsessed kid.... heck, I'd love those plates 😅
Hehe, I seriously ALMOST bought the plates!
Why is this so fun to watch??

I was shocked at some of the prices, $20 for a used sweater?! Yeah, no. I'll have to check out the other one yet!

Oh wow, that's a big change Kami! Lots to miss I'm sure but I'm sure there will be benefits to town as well. I hope you can find joy in the move!
If you’re looking for glassware, kitchen and home stuff try the Restore (Habitat for Humanity) on the west end of Edmonton.
Oh great, thanks for that tip, I'll have to check it out!

Oh that's not good!

We didn't have a Goodwill near our old place so I had no idea what I was getting into! Their book prices are good though!
The Goodwills here in Florida have really raised their prices. It's sad when you can go to a clothing store and just hit the clearance racks for less than you can at Goodwill.
Ah yeah, that's not fun, hard to justify buying anything at the thrift store then!
I used to thrift for decades, but with these prices nowadays it’s not fun anymore. I never find good deals anymore. Resellers have been part of the problem, and online selling too.
We do stores like tj Maxx, marshalls etc for clothes as the prices are nearly the same. I do like their book prices tho.
I have realized recently that I’m a 500 piece puzzle girl.😉
Unfortunately I find the ones I'm drawn to are always 1000 pieces. I move there be more and better 500 piece puzzles out there!

I wish people would boycott thrift stores until they bring the prices down.
Goodwill prices are insane. I need to find different thrift stores.
I mostly shop and smaller thrift stores so this was a shocker to me!
I used to buy a lot of thrift store clothes, but the pricing doesn’t make it realistic to do so anymore.

Those are great spots to look!
So nice ❤ will u be my penpal friend?
