Anxiety due to spiritual attacks is still anxiety! And its okay to give yourself grace during those times. I also find getting outside helps immensely with anxiety, as well as doing some hard, sweaty work/exercise. And reading ❤️
I read Anxiety - Anatomy and Cure by Robert W. Kelleman a few years ago and it really helped me reshape how I deal with anxiety. God made us with emotions so they aren't inheritantly bad, its just what we use them for. Now instead of getting bothered or feeling shame of sinfulness when I'm feeling anxious I see it more like my phone ringing - its a call to prayer, the anxiousness sparks gratitude because it reminds me of how much greater God is which in turn, helps reduce it. I know you already mentioned prayer but it really helped me change my thinking to not see it as a bad thing but as part of "for my good" because He can use anything to draw us closer to Him.
Excellent book recommendation. I also recommend Loving God With all Your Mind by Elizabeth George, someone who also struggled with anxiety. I also wonder when you had your last physical. I would be worth it to talk with a dr, get some blood tests. You have had a tremendous amount of change in this past year as well as all the anxiety regarding the foster care situation. Esther's comment about not feeling ashamed, not a sin in itself but it depends on how you deal with it.
For me reading helps, water sounds is very soothing ( home water feature or Apple Music) also a weighted blanket has been very helpful. Combo of all three is my happy place.
In addition to the things you mentioned….I love my counsellor, who always helps me so much with anxiety! Distraction can be a good tool to ride out anxiety, but it isn’t a long term solution. I think understanding the cause and triggers of your anxiety is key. When you know why you’re feeling a certain way, you can sit in the discomfort of anxiety a little easier and not panic. 🙏🏻💖
I have to run 3-4 days a week to combat anxiety. I run 2-3 miles at a time. It’s the one thing I keep coming back too, and we actually met with a psychiatrist for one of my kids and she said that high intensity exercise can be as effective as anxiety medication. Other than that - walks, rewatching favorite shows, routines, and giving myself grace. Oh, and an emergency fund - helps me sleep better at night! Hugs ❤
Some things I do are focusing on others (asking how I can pray for them, porch dropping fun things for them), singing hymns or putting on worship music, going outside, reading, taking a nap, and telling my husband or others I’m anxious so we can pray. Also eating dessert 😂
I struggle with anxiety & panic attacks. I’m also a mental health counselor. Things that help me are gratitude journaling. Research has shown that our brains can’t simultaneously be grateful & anxious at the same time. Also, decreasing or eliminating added sugar & caffeine from your diet for a bit could also be helpful. ❤ Praying for you right now that it gets better!
Cleaning, baking, playing simple games on my tablet, easy sewing projects. If you're having racing thoughts, sucking on a sour candy like warhammers, or something with menthol, like Halls coughdtops, helps with that. They kinda shock your brain into focusing on them and not your thoughts.
I struggle a lot with anxiety and the thing that helps me, even more than reading is coloring. I especially like doing color alongs where I can just copy what the colorist is doing. There’s no pressure that way
Oh, I've seen your coloring, you are great! Mine looks about as good as my four year olds. 😂 Although I've never heard of color alongs, that sounds like something I should check out!
So many great suggestions for dealing with anxiety. I find exercising regularly has also helped me this past year (a simple weight lifting program 3x a week). I also really enjoyed the book Heaven Rules by Nancy Wolgemuth. I’m sorry you are dealing with anxiety now, when we moved a couple of years ago my anxiety really spiked. Praying for you!
For anxiety it depends on the situation. For a bad day/time I use grounding. Go outside preferably barefoot. Find 3-5 things each you can see, hear, smell and feel. Wear headphones when the world feels very loud. For a bad week - less technology, more reading. A bath or swim- something about being submerged in water. And try and make sure there isn’t clutter. Also try and stay out of stores or crowded places. Snuggle with my kids and pets. For the long haul I try and set a bedtime (so hard for a night reader) and make sure being tired isn’t making it worse. Try and spend time each day out in the sunshine. Try and remember all the little things I’m stressing over will not make or break my world in the long haul and give it to God.
I love the beautiful outside nature shots. Just said a prayer for you to experience some relief from your anxiety. May God give you the peace that surpasses all understanding! ❤️
@@ChantelKlassen doing great! Thanks for asking ❤️ I haven't had as much time for reading so I haven't been able to watch as many videos. My job has turned extremely fast paced and demanding the last year. But I do try to keep up with you a little. Glad to see you're doing well. Hope you love your robot vac!
I am still trying to figure out how to deal with/process my anxiety and depression. But, I really liked several comments. Prayer helps...but sometimes I feel like I can't even move emotionally enough to pray...if that makes sense.
Camomile tea always helps me to reduce anxiety. I agree outdoors always helps , plants and flowers in the house and of course 'storm heaven' , help will come , maybe when you least expect it .x
I think most of my anxiety is related to my kids' relationship with the Lord and their actions and how those reflect on me as a parent.. so for the first part of that remembering I am not their savior only Jesus can be that. Though I am responsible for teaching them about that I can't make them accept it. So when I am struggling with that just praying for their salvation and continuous relationship with God. Their actions is a reminder that my value to God is not tied to how well behaved they are and to not worry what other people think of me. Now things that help me calm my anxiety down: -talking through it with Tim or another trusted friend -prayer -hot shower -reading and double on that reading w/ a fun drink (coffee, hot chocolate, tea, soda, etc.) and doing that outside -spending time with friends -spending time doing fun things and forgetting about my to do list -getting the house what I call "reasonable" it is picked up and clean enough to not feel like a to do item.. not spotless but good enough that most people could come over (just not my mom 😛) -watch a movie w/ popcorn -go get a coffee or go for a drive basically things that make me slow down and enjoy the moment I am in or get the house to a place I can rest in if it got out of control.
Walks out on the farm does me so good. I usually always take my dog along. Doing anything with my dog really helps me. I got chronic fatigue from glandular virus flare up this year. Was getting frequent panic attacks. For different health issues I'm busy doing a liver detox from metagenics and since I started I have had no panic attack. On a different note😅I changed my name from farmcrochet to Navy and Lassie and started a channel and you were an inspiration
Ooh, thanks for the heads up on the name change! I have chronic fatigue from years of undiagnosed Crohn's, not fun! Interesting about the liver detox though, I have a liver disease so that would probably be helpful for me anyway.
@@ChantelKlassenmy liver looked like a drinkers liver even though I don't drink alcohol 😅 and after the detox all my levels went into the normal range except one....the one that usually takes longer to stabilize anyway. So I'm busy with the last couple of detox weeks now😅
Anxiety decreases for me when a friend and I pray together. Reading the Bible, walking slowly outside, and crafting also help. I tried the chore card idea for extra money for my boys, but gave it up. It was too inconsistent for us. If you get it to work, I'd love to know the details. Maybe we'll try again.
For anxiety, I check my diet. For me, if I can resist the foods that don't agree with me like sugar and starches, and eat more green vegetables, I feel better. Sometimes I uses green powders if I'm struggling to make myself eat healthier. I also take a break from my news source for a few days and read something else.
Definitely being outside helps me esp sitting out with my chickens helps when I'm feeling anxious. Cuddling 🐈. Cutting out carbs and eating more fat/fatty meat. Reading God's Word. NOT listening to videos at 2x speed 😅. Calming music, eagle videos/lives.
