      WOW! Loved your desktop setup... So much stuff but your organizational skills made it look minimalistic👍🏼... My wife just purchased me a Dell 38” Ultrawide monitor... I’ve been a mobile video editor I use Lumafusion not sure if you heard about it. I wanna step up my video editing looking towards FCPX or Adobe premiere. I do not have a computer and I don’t know which one to buy to run both software. If you can please help that’ll be appreciated. Thanks!

    • @MikeWat
      @MikeWat  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@francisgarcia5201 hey buddy, really glad you liked it! If you're already an iOS user, probs FCPX would be the natural way to go and get a Mac. You can always use adobe premier on it as well whereas if you go with PC you wouldnt be able to use FCPX. Most likely you will only stick to one software, I only use FCPX b/c its super simple and does everything I need it to at this level (and it's only one time payment vs Adobe which is monthly fees)

    I love that at the end of the video you stated that you didnt know anything about this stuff and had to teach yourself and we can do it too.. I work a 9-5 job for Insurance company and due to Pandemic, my department has shifted to a full time work from home environment (closing down local office permanently)... So over course of last year I have begun to transform my home office / gaming setup and plan to learn about editing and filming / streaming for supplemental hobby. Ive gained alot of inspiration from this setup thanks

    this is actually one impressive video, I love how you organized everything and feels good to see others buying the same gear I decided to go for so feels kinda like I did a great choice, it is true, getting a desk totally inspires to get better on the layout of a setup and it is a great starting point, I would love to have an advise if possible, what would you do if the limitation you have to have a better look is the house or room itself, the house is a bit old so the walls and the floor are a bit outstanding with the rest of the setup. I mean the big 5k iMac with the nice dark wooden desk and the audio monitors and all looks pretty great but the house just makes it so contrasting since is so modern and old at the same time,
    I considered to renew the house but so far the investment is a bit big and hard to do so I don't know if I should go for easier solutions or just not rush and wait until renewing the walls and floor turns possible,
    also, on a scale of 1 to 10 how much of a deal an EGPU would stand considering my specs are readon 575 4 GB, 40 gigs of RAM and i5 8770k
    would that make that much of a difference? what about Bootcamp gaming, it is possible to use that EGPU in the main 5k screen or should always be external monitor,
    would appreciate your advice, thanks for making such n awesome video and keep up the great work. your comparison 2015- 2020 reminds me of my first steps in the tech review world.
    nowadays I quitted on that but I totally understand that "dads money, you're rich" gosh, good content and hard work bring that all on time.

    • @MikeWat
      @MikeWat  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey my dude! Glad this vid inspires you :)
      Renewing the house would seem to be a better investment, however, I would fix up one room at a time if $ is a problem. That way you could slowly build it up one step at a time. Walls+Floors in one room should be easier :)
      I haven't tried bootcamp gaming yet so I can't answer that question, but you can use the eGPU with your 5k iMac for sure

    Questions.
    1. When you drag the work of your video editing from the main monitor to your iPad was that because you used the flow technology from Logitech. That ergonomic mouse lets you do that. This is why I asked. That was pretty cool to switch that easily.
    2. Your monitor and monitor arm. What is the measurement from desk to bottom of the monitor with the monitor arm raised to its highest level. Just want to get an idea of how much potential space one can get below the monitor.
    3. The external GPU case and GPU. Is it a plug and play? Not very good at deep tech details. I was thinking of building a gaming PC but I want a Mac mini and like that you have this set up. This seems a better idea for me so that I don’t have to build a gaming PC as well as buy a Mac mini that I want anyway.
    4. The Mac mini doc seems hard to find at the moment. Is the fan suppose to cool off the Mac mini?

    • @MikeWat
      @MikeWat  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey buddy sorry for the late reply!
      1. Apple Side Car
      2. 10"
      3. Yes plug & play, but need USB type C
      4. My mistake there's no fan in the hub, but the design helps to cool it off

    • @carsutube
      @carsutube 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mike Wat thanks. Looks like that monitor needs a special back plate to hang it. I wanted to get that monitor but the plates are difficult to find.
      What is Apple side car? LOL. I’ll have to look it up.

    • @carsutube
      @carsutube 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mike Wat thanks for your reply. I have 2 more questions.
      1. There are 2 issues that a couple of people give points on. The first one is that people are having issues with a Mac mini not doing well connected to monitors. It appears to have started with Apples updated 2018 Mac mini. This was the first updated model in nearly 6yrs. Anyway even the 2020 update was just under the hood with updates to the size of storage. So it’s still technically a 2018 model. I have included 2 links. One person talks recently about why they returned theirs. They had issues with their Mac mini malfunction with monitors and they even highlighted how it was a known issue on Apple forums: th-cam.com/video/O8Apwqc1R4I/w-d-xo.html
      2. This link is from a popular tech guy and he describes the Mac mini in a very balanced way. Does yours get really hot? It appears that the Mac mini runs at very dangerous temps in relation to the cpu and so on. I am so frustrated because I like MAC OS System. I wanted to move away from iMacs and use my own monitors. Now I find this just when I was about to pull the trigger for the Mac mini. th-cam.com/video/737dCFBqO4I/w-d-xo.html
      Your thoughts?

    Random question, what made you choose the Mac Mini for your main machine over a Macbook laptop?

    • @PrincePatel-hb8fw
      @PrincePatel-hb8fw 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Im guessing the upgradability, like you can get a base mac mini and upgrade much more than you can on a macbook which would be more expensive as you have to get it from apple themselves.

    • @MikeWat
      @MikeWat  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question, mainly because I get more performance for the $$ I pay.
      I was thinking of the MBP 16" but it was too expensive for similar specs and the main benefit would be portability.
      However, I don't really need the portability because I found that when I was using my MBP 13" it was always used as desktop mode and was closed. I never edited outside, I only used it for email and stuff which I now use just my iPad so that has replaced my laptop.

The only reason I’m not getting it is because I am not satisfy with the 2020 upgrades in iPad Pro after waited for so long and I couldn’t decide between a MacBook Pro or a Mac mini.
