One of the best episodes ever. I especially like that it shows his exasperation after losing the fish the first time after a four-hour battle and being completely exhausted. It doesn't show it here but just when I thought he was about to completely lose it he just says not quite, not quite, not quite. And then he comes back the next day after a bad thunderstorm and does it all again with an even bigger tarpon. That's what you call true grit, and determination. I also like that he has to use a weird method to catch this fish using an inflatable boat and flippers dangling in the water underneath the boat to get around in and having to fly fish which he wasn't real comfortable doing either and learning how to do it successfully. Great episode.
In this life all of us is fishing for things. So every time I feel bad about my life, I just come here watch this amazing Jeremy. He’s never give up reaching his targets. Well done man.
Believe me Jeremy... That "River Monster Tarpon" made sure you danced toe to toe and once again you showed us all what lurks beneath! Amazing job once again... 🎣
Jeremy: I believe these are the most dangerous tarpon Also Jermey: Fights the fish in an inflatable boat that can’t social distance the two ends of the boat
Hope this guy retires soon if retiring is what it would be called. He just demonstrated he's a legend. This is what he really loves to do. Much respect
It’s amazing how similar this fish is to the arapaima. Both are large fish close to, if not at the top, of their respective food chains, both are air breathers, and both can cause injury by slamming head-on into people.
It puts it all into perspective when you are fishing for these monsters in open water and your main concern is the hammerhead sharks that will come in for the easy kill when the fish is close to the boat after a long battle. The area Jeremy is fishing looks like an estuary where the young tarpon spend the early years of their lives before venturing out into open water. A lot of those areas are protected.

Every fishman knows the feeling of fighting a fish sometimes for a considerable amount of time and losing it last second. It's brutal but still addicting somehow
Losing a big fish is a moment that you just never forget. That memory lasts a lifetime. As a kid I went fishing for pike with my dad and I remember getting a strike after pulling my soft plastic bait above a fallen tree that was in the water. I knew the tree was there and so I knew there's a big chance I'll get snagged but after the first strike when I didn't hook the fish the next cast a big hit and my reel was rushing but it stopped after like 2-3 seconds, I was convinced it was a fish and I kept reeling and my rod was bent that it looked like it was about to snap, it was very strange I tried to reel in but nothing, my rod kept bending, reel kept screaming and I literally couldn't reel more otherwise the rod would just break, it was just as if I was snagged into the tree I just couldn't move it so I though I guess I'm just snagged so I tried to unsnag it and nothing for like 3 minutes of trying. Then I felt that it released so I started to reel in and suddenly a big pike jumped above the water with my lure in it's mouth and as the like was shaking her head in the air the bait just flew out. My heart literally stopped at that moment. Its worth mentioning that I was still a kid and even fished with a telescopic carp rod but still. I saw the whole pike as it jumped and it was bigger than anything I've ever caught and bigger by a lot, the pike didn't even know it was hooked. Even after many years I still think of how big the pike could've been. If I didn't try to unsnag it I probably would've caught that fish. My dad was fishing a spot that was like 30 meters away from me and I remember how he didn't believe me that it actually happened haha. Craziest experience ever, never had a fish that big on the line ever since, that thing was huge. I only saw it from a distance but even far away it seemed pretty big. Those are the moments why I decided to start fishing. Maybe one day I'll be lucky enough to catch a fish that big. Next year is my chance.
For all you wondering how these fish are in these waters, look up “robalos en Honduras” we have the most natural and BIGGEST tarpons and snooks out there! Much love y’all
Tarpon are such an impressive fish, and the fact that both Jeremy and his guide went for them with a fly and in a tiny inflatable craft, mad respect.
Gotta respect and appreciate this man's dedication to his craft
Yes indeed
Gotta respect these nuts
J P 😐
Gotta respect your profile pic

You could just feel his frustration when the fish got away.....
Yeah, that is obviously a man who wants to cry. And who could blame him?
@@d00mg4ze You can practically hear his inner BLOODY HELL!
He technically caught that first one, but he never got to show it. If you are able to unhook a fish with your hands, you've caught it
@@d00mg4ze Ive been there/ BIG tarpon over 130 lbs are tough and never stop.
I really wanted to see that sucker!
2:35 he was so frustrated he didnt know what to do so he just threw up a gang sign 😆
Lol
😂😂😂😂🤣🤣
Lmfaooooo he was showing the hook in his hand 🤣 but in fucking dead
this cracks me up! hahahahahah 😂😂
Lol
He is one of the most beautiful people in world. Amazing strength , just wow. Could watch him 24/7. Just a good person !
Believe me Jeremy... That "River Monster Tarpon" made sure you danced toe to toe and once again you showed us all what lurks beneath!
Amazing job once again... 🎣
Can we just appreciate how great this man really is!
At first I thought the title said “Epic Battle With A Giant Tampon.” This is a little better I guess...
Lol
I dunno. What would a battle with a giant tampon look like I wonder?
@JACKSON FURLONG you're probably right but as a piece of comedy it would probably be funny
Man the perseverance after the first one got away respect to this icon of rod fishing
Every Fisherman at 2:31 had the same feeling: "Oh SHIT!". God damn, that would be a trip ender for my family.
It’s said that fish quiver when they feel Jeremy Wade enter their continent...
The profile pic makes this comment perfect 😂
Fly fishing with night closing in on a flimsy dinghy with a 150 lb monster at the other end ... Thats what dreams are made of
"I'm stuck on the f****** branch."
I'm a bit drunk and real stoned but this may be the most intense thing I've EVER seen on the internet.
Every modern fisherman love Jeremy Wade and his style of fishing. Extraordinary
You know he’s really intense and in the moment when he’s dropping F bombs left and right!
Crazy that fish stayed on through the trees.
Well-done jeremy .. well done .. lovely to watch
I wish there was a real-time clock going in the corner so we had some idea of how long the actual fight really is from hook to landing.
Wow jeremy wade is a sick fishing man quality show respect 4 this 1 Discovery Channel ❤ *Dave, Liverpool, UK* 👍👊
Jeremy: I believe these are the most dangerous tarpon
Also Jermey: Fights the fish in an inflatable boat that can’t social distance the two ends of the boat
I really enjoy watching River Monsters... When are we going to see the full episodes?
Who else thought he had the hook in his finger when he was trying to get it out of the fishes mouth :((((
that has happened
The Tarpon flopping gets me everytime.
Anyone amazed by this should be reminded of the stingray he was reeling in that hurt him so bad he lost 40% of his strength in his arm permanently.
Not perminant
5%-15% permanently. 40% temporary
All old dogs are fellow members of the lost or broken parts club
what a legend this man is
“I’m stuck on the fucking branch” lmaooo he’s a legend
This man makes fishing seem so exciting and epic! LOL
Tarpon are exciting and epic...
This was the first time I see him struggle to keep his cool. Also I think the first time I witness him needing censorship 😂
Hope this guy retires soon if retiring is what it would be called. He just demonstrated he's a legend. This is what he really loves to do. Much respect
This was one of the best episodes
This is a rare moment to see jeremy curse

I think it is convergent evolution since tarpon r more Closely related to eels than to arapaima
Again I find myself here and I don't even fish o.o Its just too good
Me too
Same lol
Sir Jeremy the best man in his game👍
Don't know which one is more bad azz.....the fish or Jeremy?????💪

Ive been watching this man since i was young this man hooks me up liking river monster like arapaima watching him getting old kinda hurt
One of the best episodes ever. 🎣
what a hard work back there Mr. Wade, and the result of hard work is always good.
I love this rendition of the Hemingway classic!
Fun Fact: Tarpon are in the minnow family, so when he says their the biggest of its kind, he's not lying
Fun fact: no they aren't. There is no "minnow family".
The two Tarpon species are the only fish in their family; Megalopidae.
Fun fact: so which fact is true?
@@Pattinson1004 his...is is the real one :( I was recalling some bs I heard probably more than 10 years ago
Amazing 👍☝,,good luck 🌎

I cant.be the only one who glanced at the title and seen battles giant tampon! LoL
Salute. This vid deserves a like and a subscribe. And give the man a medal
I thought those wraps on his fingers were wounds for a moment too long
The fish looks bigger than his dingy, how he stays on that is beyond me
that was epic! what a magnificent fish. Jeremy you're magnificent also!
There is something about making eye contact with a fish that has eyes as big if not bigger than yours that creeps me out!
The moment you hear the commentary are by themselves nothing happened to them lol
The amount of disappointment in his eyes when the fish gets away
You crazy man. Respect from me.
I enjoy all of your VIDEOS you such fighter with so many different kind of fish :-))
I need to find something to do that makes me as happy as fishing does for him.
Lefty Kreh and Stu Apte approve of this video.
I read the title as "giant tampon"
Lol for giant pussy
Thank you
Woah this fish looks like a modern day Xiphactinus. I can’t remember if they mentioned it in the episode or not.
Boss you are great you are an idol for all angler
Well I think the cameraman and the rest crew knows where this secret location is
For all you wondering how these fish are in these waters, look up “robalos en Honduras” we have the most natural and BIGGEST tarpons and snooks out there! Much love y’all
Read this as giant tampon
Did u change your pad today
Imagine him reeling in a massive tampon out of the water all flopping around and launching out of the water haha
Jon Ragan “so this is it, the fish that has attacked so many people”
I think fighting a 10lb pike in my inflatable kayak is exciting! Imagine this! Incredible stuff
Monster tarpon..wow!!! Is the best!!..😁🖒
He is saying how dangerous this fish is, but he goes to fish for it in a essentially a grown up pool float? With his legs exposed?? Crazy!
Jeremy Wade is basically the Steve Irwin of Marine life.
He really never surrender until he catch this river monsters
How the hell does he catch those monsters on a goddamn blown up dingy?
Inflatables can get to places rigged boats can't.
Goodjob dude
Dam his hands !!! He the champ 🏆!!!
Does jeremy wade know that barramundi and tarpin are the same😂😂😂😂
Like tarpon fishing 👍🎣
2:36 Jeremy throws up his set.
That man is a absolute beast
Haha he actually was stuck on that branch
Nice very good and big fish.
Next time bring some gloves 😂
Jeremy for president!
What was the gang sign he throws @2:35?
Means fish on
It is my dream to one day meet Jeremy, and to catch a Tarpon myself
Bow to the King who gave you a chance to play with him. Perhaps on another lucky day, he may allow you to play with him again.
