I'm not saying it needs to be on the channel or anything... but you should check out this one videogame that recently got its first story update called Thems Fightin Herds It started development as a fan game for My Little Pony before Hasbro sent a cease and desist order. It got so popular that apparently Hasbro was concerned people would mistake it for an official game, rather than just a really well done fan game. So Lauren Faust, showrunner and character designer for the show, heard about this and actually approached the devs and decided to work with them to finish the game as a seperate work! She created new character designs for the team so they would have their own original characters that use the same fighting style as the ponies had when it was still a fan game. They are: Arizona the cow, a rushdown character based on Applejack (player character of the 1 chapter story mode, more chapters with other characters in development as free dlc) Velvet the reindeer, a long range fighter based on Rarity Tianhuo the longma (half horse half dragon) an aerial specialist that can fly based on Rainbkw Dash Paprika the alpaca, a grappler and "confusion fu" fighter based on Pinkie Pie Oleander the unicorn, a long and short range mix up character based on Twilight Sparkle (along with a demon living in her book named Fghtng, Fred for short) And Pom the sheep (aka, the one we must all protecc) an assistance based character (she has a small pack of dogs with her that do most of the fighting) based on Fluttershy. The game has actually been noted by the fighting game community as being exceptionally well put together and is even one of the featured games for EVO this year. It is also the first fighting game with a fully playable cast of ungulates.
I hated this episode. This was when I knew that DuckTales as I love it is gone. Carl Barks would be spinning in his grave. I'm sure Don Rosa is disgusted with the lack of resonance with the Duck family comics that are the foundation for DuckTales. The zany gimicky magic is so out of step. It makes the original DuckTales look positively dignified.
With as much respect as possible, I disagree. The duck family inventing golf is canon, and magic is big part of their canon too. The mcduck family castle is full of ghosts and has the Holy grail hidden on the premises and Scrooge once tried to steal the sampo. Donald once found a "birthday genie" in a museum by accident, Scrooge found a unicorn and dinosaurs and the nephews were once sent back in time alongside Stonehenge (admittedly via science). Magicia once bewitched Scrooge to forget what doors were. The series was never afraid of magic, nor to get wacky.
It great they got twilight and Fluttershy voice actors to voice the kelpies. PS. In season 2 there's a episode called friendship hate magic
